Do you have a way for me to automatically go to the last unread post in a thread?
Can I change my sig and/or avatar, and it will change on all my previous posts?
Does a box automatically pop up to notify me of a new PM?
Do you have more than 80 smilies available?

Do you have the option to ignore any poster that you don't like? Meaning that their posts do not show up when you log in?

I did a search the other day from many months ago and saw a post that I made with a signature that I haven't had for awhile.

quote:
Does a box automatically pop up to notify me of a new PM?

No. If you receive a PM it will show underneath the Hello Log In/Out section that's right beneath the "New To Our Forums" at the top left. Or you can look in "Your Profile" which is accessed by clicking the yellow Forum Tools box at the top left of the page. In there it will show your PM's.

Hope that helps a bit, one of the other folks can hopefully fill in a few more of the blanks. Or correct me if I'm wrong. smilies/redface.gif

Glenn, on the new UBB6, signatures will change in every post except those that existed when we were under UBB5. smilies/smile.gif

Glenn, I am grateful for your help, however, this was a trick question. At the Army, the answer to all would have been 'yes'. I knew that you did not offer all these options, so I asked about them, just to be a smartass, and to brag a little.
I am sorry if I mislead you, but as that was my intent(kindof)I am not all that sorry.
Please don't be mad at me..I am willing to make a full confession, and do my pennance, as deemed necessary, by you specifically. smilies/wink.gif

Not sure what that was all in aid of, the army boards look and run great. Dont think too many peeps would argue with that.

Closing this though, this forums really only here so we can debug OUR board, if needed. smilies/eek.gif

Well I opened this for the reason of responding myself to this thread, as these are valid questions. While I have no problem with you posting questions like this, I do question your motives??

The Army uses a MySQL database message board script, which is far different from the one we use, so because of that, Sarge has a login system that allows users to jump to the latest post like that. If I used vbulletin, we'd have it to. But I don't like the program at all, or some of the people that are involved with its development, hence we will never have it.

quote:
Can I change my sig and/or avatar, and it will change on all my previous posts?

Yes.

quote:
Does a box automatically pop up to notify me of a new PM?

You see, I don't want annoying boxes like that popping up, hence we don't have it. I like having the little notification right under your login box. To me that is much cleaner, and the way I like it.

quote:

We will NEVER have more than 80 smilies, because I don't want the board cluttered with different-sized, often vulgar, unprofessional looking graphic images like that. In fact I doubt I will ever add more than another 5 or 6 , unless I found some really good ones. The dozen we have serve a purpose, they aren't just there so that I can have a bunch of useless graphics people can waste bandwidth with. I will never add more just to have a big page of smilies. In fact if people didn't really like them, I'd get rid of them all together, that's how much I think of them.

So does that answer your questions?

Yes Brett, that does. Thank you for your time. I apologise if I sounded like a smartass. It wasn't very well done of me. I need to think a little more, before I open my mouth and insert my foot. I hope you're not mad. That wasn't my intention. I was kinda bragging, but, I honestly thought y'all would read it and say something like "you're not in the army now", and laugh at me trying to impress someone, who really isn't(impressed).
thank you for your time.
