I bought a couple videos yesterday. One was VH live at the Tokyo Dome in '89, pro shot. Excellent quality. Looks like it was recorded right off cable TV, you know? The other tape is a compilation of old interviews (US Fest, ET-1983, etc). While it was cool seeing all this stuff that I had never seen before, I wish the quality wasn't so shitty. It looks like a 5th-generation dub done on a VCR with dirty heads, and the sound is muddy. My copy of the US Fest is somewhere in between.

To those of you that have some experience with video boots, I have some questions:

1) How does the Maryland '82 pro shot concert compare in quality to the US Festival, and is it possible to get a CLEAR copy of the US Fest?

2) Does anyone have any of the VH "compilation" videos (interviews, live clips, videos, etc) that I've seen for sale? How would you describe the quality of these tapes?

I have to say that most of my Dave videos are shitty! I have Maryland 1982..it may be better than U.S I don't know...no you know what it is...but all the Roth films I hate. I love the Dave era music but the videos uhhhhh!!!

I got the Maryland 1982 concert and the quality is a C , but the concert is great !
The San bernardino is about B+/A- !
Is very difficult to find concerts with Dave in good quality ! U can find the video collection in good quality , but not the concert ! ...

i think part of the problem is that when these shows were recorded home video technology and vcr's were'nt that great- by the time sammy and gary came along vcr's got a LOT better and now the vhs boots can be decent-

Yes ! it's true , the technology of the VCR at the time was not too good ! ... But my San Bernardino Boot video is quite good ! Not an A+ , but A-/B+ !

my friend had a toronto? boot video from 1984 tour shot with a home movie camera and it was decent b+ - a-

R u meaning the Montreal 1984 ?! ... Yes it's true ... it's good considering the age ! B++ for sure , but I think the best audience shot I got are from 1998 tour with Cerone ! ... Some of this concerts seems pro-shot and not audience !!!

That Montreal video sucks pretty bad. When I got it I had always wanted a video from the 1984 tour and I thought this one was gonna come in like the "Jump" video...bad move bad move!!

Knowing that the video is an audience boot is still good for the age ! ... Montreal 1982 wasn't so good ! ...

I just recieved the US Fest tape today. The visual quality is veeeeeeeeeeery bad, the sound is much better. But I am very excited, that was the first time I saw them live with DLR. 300'000 fuckin' people singing Bottoms Up, it just blew me away!

do you have an original tape or a copy? Mine is a copy of a copy of a copy...
If you rate a very often used VHS-cassette a B+, then mine is an average C, with some B parts, but also some D parts where the screen is completely fuzzled and you can hardly recognize anything. Where did you get yours from? I paid 15$ for mine at E-Bay.

I got that video from Ebay too ! I got 30 VH videos !! ... My problem is that i can duplicate NTSC pal USA in European Pal !
If u wanna , by the time , i got the concert of 1995 from the factory Milan from Balance tour in Pal european and 4 song taken from Rai 1988 of the VH US1983 !! ... I may made that for u ! ... I got the entire US1983 festival in good condition , but I can't made copy for the NTSC pal reason !!!

Hey that would be great!! Maybe i can help you with the NTSC-PAL duplicate.
Just at the moment i'm trying to copy the us fest from ntsc to pal, i don't know whether it works or not. It will be finished in 30 minutes, so i'll be back then. I connected the second VCR to the TV, not to the first VCR with the source tape, maybe that makes a difference....

It worked, it's in color and the same er...quality as the original tape. I don't know why yours is black and white, perhaps it's a copy protection.

I've got a NoName 2in1 TV/VCR that plays NTSC and PAL, and a crappy old Sharp VCR (it's not even stereo), which is pal only.

so u got a combo tv vith vcr an a hold vcr !!!! ... I'll try !!! ... I'll let ya know !!!

i have the audience shot toronto 98 show
the quality is good except for the first 2 songs where peeps heads are in the way but after its fine
and for some strange reason during without you when eddies strumming that cool part before the solo the sound quality gets better

i remember when they played humans being and then alex came in with the drums
