admittedly i was as big a critic as any --trying to be reasonable now...

sometimes bands have live shows recorded , not for release, but for radio broadcast.
once, i was driving in the car and a vh3 " in concert special" was on and i heard "without you". it was actually good-- it incorporated a beetles tune" we gotta work it out" toward the end... not bad!

anyhow, was this particular show ever booted on an album?? what was the title??

aside from that- what are the best vh3 boots?

"We can work it out" was as staple on the III tour. If they played the concert on radio, then I guarantee it is in circulation for trade. Out.

Yup, I beleive the radio show was in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania & Gary's birthday. The bootleg is called Unchained Monsters I think, pretty good show too. I agree the songs off 3 sounded better live than the studio album.

Yup, Unchained Monsters is the boot-Great sounding soundboard show, including the 3 tracks recorded in Germany. People can say what they want about Gary, but IMHO, this is a great VH3 boot. He does a fantastic job on Romeo Delight, the Dance The Night Away/Feel Your Love Medley, and Humans Being. And like any 3 tour show, Eddie smokes on Year To The Day. This incarnation of Van Halen was WAY better live than on the VH3 CD. Maybe that's why a lot of us had high hopes for their next album with Gary.

Absolutely no doubt. It really was a shame that the album was so far below their live sound. I'm more of a Dave-era fan, but the 3 tour just plain ripped ass. Ed & the boys were totally on fire. DEFINITELY get your hands on that boot, jorL5150, if you can. Yes, the name of that show is 'Unchained Monsters', and also a side note, it is commonly mislabled as being from Pitts., but it was actually from Hershey, PA. [then again what difference does it really make http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif].

Another great boot from the 3 tour is 'Wolfgang Attacks', from Japan, and 'The Only One', also from Japan.

Just check out www.vhboots.com (http://www.vhboots.com) for all the details you need on all VH boots.

I'd say either of the two 10/23/98 Osaka boots would be good choices also. If memory serves me correctly, its's one of the few shows with "Dirty Water Dog" performed as an encore instead of "Josephina" on a bootleg.

Yeh wolfie attack is Osaka, and it's a 'josephina' free zone

The show I saw live on the III tour they did josephina.... Guess what..... Eddie 'forgot the fuckin words' so to speak http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif
was pretty funny actually.. Eddie and Gary sittin on a little 'mini' drum riser, and eddies pissing himself laughing through the song.

what a great way to end the song "without you" live in concert. lots of copies of the III tour around, do you self a favor and pick one up.

Can someone tell me how,"Sympton of the Universe," by Black Sabbath goes? Any of the lyrics? I don't recall even hearing that tune on the radio, but you hear kids talkin' about it being jammed out during ATBL in '98.
