Yeh getting a bit of games overload at the moment, I took the lil lady out to the olypic site a couple of weekends ago - everythings pretty much ready to go tommorrow if need be, the facilitys have really been orginised well.. the main stadiums been finished and in use for over a year.

Major problems gonna be traffic round the city - sydney traffics pretty ordinary at best. The bulk of olympic traffic goes into the park via rail - most of the facilitys are in the one big park, serviced via rail.. but its gonna be fun.. 'specially for guys like me who work on the road... ah well

But we gripe bout things, some aspects of the orginising hasnt been great.. but it'll be fine when it happens.. Melbourne set a pretty high standard for freindly, sucessful games in 56, hopefully we can keep our end up this time http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

Over here in the U.S., we've got a nice little scandal brewing over how we rigged the voting to get The Winter Olympics in 2002 for Salt Lake City, Utah.

Yeh we heard about that here too, no doubt our reps were doing the same thing, its just the way it operated!

What gets me is the scenario that the IOC walks into a potential host city... delegates say 'grease the wheels, get my vote'... so the city complies - everyone else is doing it, and if your gonna get the gig, its gotta be done...

Then when the shit hits the fan, the (corrupt) IOC throws it all back at the host cities.. As far as the cities knew, it was all part of 'what had to be done'.. lets be honest - a games bid is a BIG money deal.. Sure the cities probably knew it was wrong, but when theres that kinda money already commited, they are gonna do what it takes, rather than waste the money they have already spent on a failed bid
