Actually, if I'm not mistaken, this pic is one of a few that was taken during the BAMMIES (Bay Area Music Awards) back in the mid 70's, well after he was out of high school.

In the other pics I saw, it was backstage and he was with the likes of Jefferson Starship, Bill Graham, John Kolodner and the members of his solo band after Montrose.

Not the most flattering hair style...or pose...and this was taken BEFORE the extensive dental work took place as well.

Well, from this angle and the way he's got his mouth open talking you can't really make it out, but this WAS before he got the caps (or whatever they did) done. He had those 'beaver-like' two front teeth that were longer then the ones on the sides of them. If you look at pic of him smiling NOW days with his mouth slightly open...all his teeth are EVEN with each other.

I did a double-take... in that shot Sammy looks EXACTLY like Brad Gillis from Night Ranger... who was in a bay area funk band called Rubicon at that time... so he may even have been at that same Bammies show. Wouldn't that be funny to see them there side-by-side?
