I gotta go with Pretty Woman . Dave purrs like a cat , thats hilarious . IMO Josephina is the worst song ever by Van Halen . How Many Say I is more listenable . http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif

Can you shine a Light !! ???HUH??

Anyways , Josephina has no melody at all .
It reminds me of a bad hair band song .

Pretty Woman is cool so is the video is too, especially the italian video. But I have to say Josephina because there are more parts, more in depth,Pretty Woman doesn't have a solo which is ok it is still a fun song. But after the music part in the middle of Josephina when Gary comes back in..."Hey Josephinaahhhhh!!""yeah hey heayeah!!!" The hair on my arms is standing thinking about it!

Josephina, because of recent experiences.

Josehina, because it's a Van Halen song.
The other is a cover, and the guitar work is way cooler in Josephina.

Pretty Woman is awesome, but I'll go with Josephina, especially the live version.

Josephina! I just can't vote for a cover. It is never the same magic as the original.

Enough with 3 comparisions. If you want to compare songs, make sure they are sort of similiar, like Don't Tell Me vs. Judgement Day, Dance the Night Away vs. Beautiful Girls or Unchained vs. Mean Streets.

By the way, Pretty Woman. I never could listen to Josephina. It delayed the release of VH3 and it wasn't worth it. I would have rather had TWILY.

Pretty Woman all the way. This was the song that turned me on to VH back in '82. Josephenia is just too Air Supplyish for me.

I don't really like the album version of Josephina, but I did like the live version on the 3 tour. Both Pretty Woman and Dancing In The Street turn my stomach.

Ed6150, Can you shine a light means can you shed some light, meaning he wants to know about her, her life, and everything. It's a very cool song, one of my favorites.

Pretty Woman is another cover that I like better than the original. If Van Halen did a Garage Inc-type of CD, it would kick Metallica's lethargic ass! The one thing I've always wanted to hear was VH's cover of KC and the Sunshine Band. I heard they used to play that shit on the party circuit. I can just imagine what Ed and Dave especially would do to Shake Your Booty! http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif

I can't believe I'm voting for a VH cover over an original but Josephaga downright sux. VH does a cool version of it.

Josephina - one of only two songs I really like from 3 - Dirty Water Dog is the other one...

Pretty woman was cool, not their best cover, but cool. Josephina should have been an instrumental (as should have most of that album...) because the lyrics were weak. The better of the two? I guess I have to go with Pretty woman. Although it's a cover, it's more like a Van Halen song than Josephina. To think that WB held up the album for this? Sad... It should have been TWILY.

Lead Synth

But those 2 songs have nothing in common!!

*sigh* Guess I've gotta say Oh Pretty Woman because I can't stand the beginning of Josephina, and I don't really care for the words either...although it does have really good guitar work as someone pointed out. (like all VH3 songs.)

I absolutely love TWILY and think it's an awful shame that it wasn't included on VH3.

Uh guys, this a terrible comparison, makes no sense like others have said. This is like comparing Tony Orlando's "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" to "Eruption." Two songs that share absolutely nothing in common.

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing Bretthttp://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif but I thought about it cause people always ragged on Pretty Woman and Diver Down so I never liked Josephina , so I compared em , but your right man . Your example of Tony Orlando was funny http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif

Some of the guitar work in "Josephina" is very cool, the lyrics are pretty weak and it sounds like bad "Styx" song (and all of their songs are bad). "That's Why I Love You" is a far superior song, and one of the band's many mistakes with "3" was switching thest two songs.

I respect your resiliency DonBo. A verse is a part in a song just before the chorus, not a pissing contest to see who's better.

i'm ready... you can bash me...

i realy like 3, but josephina is the worst song vh produced... and i can tell this is the worst ever... they can't do something worst than it.

although pretty woman is a cover, i think is better than the original, so it gets my vote.

twily should be in place o josephina... i'm sorry ed, but this song realy sucks.

i think 3 has some great tunes... i love without you, once and ballot or the bullet is a power heavy tune.

3 is my last vh pick, but for sure a very good record.

imo, everyone was expecting too much of it, that's why there were a litle disapointment, but i realy like what gary did... except josephina...

Pretty Woman. Who cares if it's a cover. Van Halen always Van Halenize cover tunes. Give them an edge, so to speak. The only one I wasn't crazy about was "Dancing In The Streets". Has anybody heard their version of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition"? Napster has a snippet of it. I loved Stevie's original but Van Halen's version is DA BOMB! I too, would love to hear their covers of KC & the Sunshine Band, Ohio Players and other R&B songs.

I'd rather hear just about anything but Josephina. I can't believe they dropped "That's Why I Love You" at the last minute for this yawner of a song.

I know, it's still VH, but even they can't hit a homer every time.

Thank God for Track Advance.

Yeah Women and Roth First, you're absolutely right! So is DonBo. We shouldn't compare songs, especially sucky ones like Josedicka, I mean, Josephina http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif Pretty Woman is my favorite, right behind Dancing In The Street. Why doesn't anyone like that song?! Is awesome, especially the version from the 1983 Argentina show!

Why does some people like That's WHy I Love You

I mean, it's a pop song pretty much. It's not terrible, but it isn't better
than Without You, Fire In The Hole, One I Want, Dirty Water Dog and Once.

I just can't vote for a cover. It is never the same magic as the original.

This sounds like an Eddie-ism.

I think a cover can have more magic than the original. For example, listen to any song that Elvis, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, classic Van Halen, The Who, The Black Crowes, Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Velvet Revolver, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Mark Lanegan, Son House, Junior Kimbrough, John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Slim, Them, The Animals, Lead Belly, Mississippi Fred McDowell, R.L. Burnside, Tim Buckley, The Rolling Stones, or them Beatles ever covered.
