Hey everyone!!!! Time to start it again!!!!!
Go Packers!!!!
The Packers are going down! This may be a good game, or it could be a blowout. I think a blowout is the only way Minnesota wins this game, as they have rarely closed out a game strong all year.
JCJanko, seeing you are a Bills fan I thought you would find it interesting that my neighbors cousin is Jeff Wright who played NT for the Bills from '88-'94. He came up last year for one of the holidays, I think it was Memorial Day and I got to meet him and BS with him for a bit. Cool guy and he's still a pretty big boy! Here's a link to a story about him on the Bills site: Jeff Wright (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/AlumniSpotlightJeffWright.jsp)

Yeah the Packers are going down to Jacksonville to play in the bowl.
With the way this season has gone, it wouldn't surprise me at all. The NFC is wide open to send a team to the Super Bowl to get their asses handed to them. :(
The Seahawks will lose by 14 and Mike Holmgren will be fired by Wednesday.
Shaun Alexander will go to another team as a free agent during the off season and never be heard of again.
OLO will hold a BBQ/Hot tub party on Wednesday evening to celebrate!! You are all invited. :thumb:

Yeah the Packers are going down to Jacksonville to play in the bowl.
To quote John Cleese in A Fish Called Wanda...
"Are you completely deranged?"
Dude, I heard a stat during last Sunday's game that said the Packers were going into the postseason with the worst rated defense in playoff history. IN PLAYOFF HISTORY.
There's no way on God's green earth that Green Bay is reaching the title game with that defense. No way, no how. Favre can only take you so far.
And what's with everyone handing them next Sunday's game? Wasn't it just two weeks ago that Minny had the game in hand only to lose on a last second field goal? Say what you want, but it's hard to beat a team with comparable talent 3 times in one season.
At some point in the playoffs, Brettsky's arm will give out and Green Bay will collapse like a house of Kraft American cheese slices. It's becoming old hat for the Fudgies. Last year Philly. The year before Atlanta. The year before St. Louis...
Nothing I like better than the annual Green Bay playoff debacle!

A seven year old Minneapolis boy was at the center of a courtroom drama
this morning when he challenged a court ruling over who should have
custody of the boy. The boy has a history of being beaten by his
parents so the judge awarded custody to his aunt. The boy confirmed
that his aunt beat him more than his parents and refused to live there.
When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents the boy
cried out that they beat him more than anyone.
The judge then decided to allow the boy to choose who should have
custody of him.
Custody was granted to the Minnesota Vikings this morning as the boy
firmly believes that they are not capable of beating anyone. :D
Let's hope that changes this weekend!

Ty Law's out for the post season...
Sports Illustrated (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/specials/playoffs/2004/01/07/law.out/index.html)
FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) -- The New England Patriots placed Ty Law on injured reserve Friday, dashing hopes that the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback could return for the playoffs after missing most of the season.
The 10-year veteran sat out the last nine games of the regular season after breaking his left foot on Oct. 31 at Pittsburgh, one of the Patriots two losses.
"We are disappointed for Ty," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "He has worked extremely hard to return this season and we all hoped it would happen."
The Patriots have this weekend off after finishing the regular season 14-2 for the second straight year. The defending Super Bowl champions will play Indianapolis in the second round of the playoffs if the Colts beat Denver on Sunday. Otherwise, the winner of Saturday's game between the New York Jets and San Diego will visit Foxboro on Jan. 16.
In last year's AFC championship game, Law intercepted Indianapolis' Peyton Manning three times in the Patriots 24-14 win. Last Oct. 17, he tied Raymond Clayborn's team record of 36 career interceptions.
Tyrone Poole, the Patriots other starting cornerback, played in just four games before going on injured reserve with a knee injury on Dec. 17.
Law initially was expected to be sidelined four to six weeks from the broken bone across the top of his foot. He had a cast removed from his foot in late November, and he later wore a removable boot to take pressure off it.
On Dec. 1, he was optimistic he'd be able to play this season.
"It's whatever my body can tolerate," Law said then. "When can I come back? That, I don't know. I'm just trying to get back as soon as possible, but I think that I'll be back, definitely, a few games [before the end of] the regular season."
Without Law and Poole, the Patriots have used second-year pro Asante Samuel, free agents Randall Gay and Earthwind Moreland and converted wide receiver Troy Brown at cornerback.
"It's been tough in a sense that the consistency wasn't there," safety Rodney Harrison said before Law was placed on injured reserve. "Whenever you lose Ty Law and Tyrone Poole, of course you're not going to be the same secondary."

01.07.05, 03:15 PM
Wow, that hurts. I'm not about to cry for them though, given the Eagles injury situation right now. That still sucks for the Pats, but I do believe they can still win. Oh, and I heard Vick missed practice with a bad case of the flu. Will see if that will affect him this coming week.

Go Seahawks...then the Eagles can beat you like the mules you are next week!!!
I'd like the Seahawks to win, and actually think they will, but I'm pulling for the Rams. The Rams ran the ball all over us two weeks ago, and ever since then the defensive starters have been talking about that game. I think they feel they shut Stephen Jackson down, and once the JV team came in the Rams ran all over them. So with something to prove, I feel the Eagles defense would be pretty pumped up for that matchup. Plus I just don't think the Rams can win here in January.
I love Herm Edwards. What a motivator. Who knows what the Jets will or won't do in the playoffs. But that coach, man, he's got it. I like the way he carries himself, how he conducts his business. Him and John Fox, I'd go to war with either one.
There's no point to my post, I just wanted to say that.
Eric Allen's moving up on my list of Football Analysts That Matter.
That's all I got. Ready, BREAK!!!
SuckaInA3Piece
01.07.05, 08:16 PM
Eric is excellent on ESPN, both in print and tv. And he was an Eagle so you know I love that. :)
As for Herm, I like the guy, but that speech he gave the media earlier in the week was dumb. I don't buy that whole we're happy to be on the bus shit. You either belong on "the bus" or you don't. I just don't see this team having the confidence to go into SD and take a game away from the Chargers. I really liked the Jets to do something this year, but once again I think they'll fall short. Very good defense though, and they should keep things close this weekend.
My picks:
Colts (freakin' duh ;))
Chargers
Packers
Rams
Oh, and I'd like to take this time to tell the shit talking Broncos that those "soft" receivers put up nearly 400 yds and 5 TD's on your "physical" secondary in the playoffs last year.
Thank you. :)

Well the Seahawks-Rams game is over and the Rams won. I wanted and would have picked the Seahawks, or the Waterchickens as my dad calls them, to win. The rest of the games:
Chargers over the Jets
Vikings over the Packers
Indianapolis over the Broncos
Anyone out there want to bet that not only does Moss show up for this game, he will have a huge impact on it's outcome? I dare ya! I think Moss will have a huge game, and the Vikings win.

Well 2 predictions wrong once again.
I missed the end of the game, did Martz go crazy celebrating?
Both teams didn't belong there in the first place were both lucky to be in a shitty conference.
But I am still standing behind my pick of Denver upsetting Indy. As long as Plummer doesn't throw interceptions as he seems to do alot, Denver has a very good chance of beating Indy in a high scoring game. Denver has a better defense than Indy, and like I said they have a good offense if Plummer doesn't give the ball away.
I am a little less sure about Green Bay beating the Vikings as I was yesterday. The weather isn't looking too bad there. 25-30 degrees and dry. But somehow Favre pulls one out in the end.
Red always could turn to Bud
BOB SANSEVERE
This is for Red McCombs' eyes only:
You've been quiet lately. It has been months since you threatened to move the team to Los Angeles. And you haven't had much to say about the annual collapse of your team.
I've got a feeling, though, we will be hearing plenty from you this week if the Vikings lose to the Green Bay Packers today.
And that's why I'm writing to you.
I want you to know that, unlike that turncoat Randy Moss, I believe Mike Tice is the right coach for this team.
I know there's not a lot of evidence to support that, not after back-to-back 3-7 finishes in the regular season, but I'm convinced the Vikings would have won the NFC North and a few more games if not for Moss' hamstring injury.
The win total also may have been higher if you had given Tice what he needed most last offseason — the budget to sign more than just Antoine Winfield to help that pitiful defense.
That said, I will understand if you fire Tice following a loss to the Packers. I won't rant if you do it. Won't assail your judgment.
It's your team, your right.
Chances are, it would be a popular move among fans. They want more from this team. They want it to be like the old days, the Purple People Eater days when the Vikings actually won games with defense.
Which brings me to my next reason for writing.
If you fire Tice, here's who you should hire:
Bud Grant.
Yep, Bud.
I know he's 75 years old, but Bud makes sense on many levels.
For one thing, he wouldn't be expensive, certainly not anywhere near as expensive as trying to hire a top NFL coordinator or a high-profile college coach. That should appeal to you.
So should this: Bud would be a short-term solution and when you're trying to sell a team you don't want a coach with a lengthy contract. A new owner is likely to want to hire his own head coach, and you wouldn't be hiring Bud to coach beyond 2005.
He would be brought in to restore respect to the franchise as well as whip up the fans and ensure the sale of season tickets, exactly what he did in 1985 when he came out of retirement the first time to rescue the team from the mess Les Steckel created in just one season.
Another thing that should appeal to you is all the national attention coaxing a Hall of Fame coach out of retirement would bring. You can bet if you do this, the talk across America won't be who the Eagles and Steelers are playing. It will be you and Bud and the Vikings.
Now, I must caution you. You would have to be prepared to take some heat from people who don't believe someone three quarters of a century old can make a successful return to the game after nearly two decades. When you hear that, just remind everyone Dick Vermeil left the game for 14 years. And be sure to say, "By the way, didn't he win a Super Bowl after he came back?"
Another thing you'll hear is that the game has changed greatly over the past 20 years. There is truth to that, but here's one thing that hasn't changed: Bud.
The Vikings didn't lose games because of Bud's coaching. They won them. He still knows talent, and he still knows how to use it.
Besides, he wouldn't be doing it alone. He would be overseeing things, sort of the CEO of what happens on the field. I'm sure he would have a mix of young and veteran coaches, just like before. Back in '85, he hired a young DB coach named Pete Carroll. Ever hear of him, Red? He just won his second straight national title at Southern Cal.
I bet Bud could persuade Jerry Burns to end his retirement to help with the offense. Now how about that for a story, Red? You bring back two former Viking coaches, both of them popular, and your chances of getting a new stadium just shot up.
Scott Linehan could go elsewhere if Tice is gone, but if he stuck around he could benefit from working with Bud and Burnsie. And if things go especially well next season, Linehan may even be the guy to replace Bud, whether you're the owner or not.
I asked Bud the other day about coaching again, and he pretty much just smiled and played it coy.
If Tice and the Vikings go on a playoff run, this all will be moot. But if they lose today and you decide to fire Tice, you make sure you talk to Bud about coming back before contacting anyone else.
And if Bud takes the job, I have one favor to ask. Let me be in the room the first time he meets with Randy Moss.
I would like to see that too!
Colts are looking good early.
All I want to know is....."Hey Papa John's.....where's my frickin' pizza?!?!"

Hate to say I told you so, but the annual Packer playoff collapse is money in the bank, baby. Shoulda taken my own advice and caught a flight to Vegas.
All razzing aside, what Moss did was completely uncalled for. As a Bears fan, I love to see Green Bay get humiliated in any way, shape, and form--but that was below the belt, even for them. And how did you like his postgame comments, "I was just having a little fun with the guys". What a complete moron. The Fox studio crew really went off on him as well.
Was it just a moon or did he wipe his skinny arse across the "Packers" on the goal post padding? That what it looked like to me.
Hey OLO (or anybody else up in WA) have you been to the Seahawks new stadium?? While I was watching the game Saturday I couldn't help but notice how nice it looks and SWEET!!

Yes its really nice! :D
Seahawk Stadium or as its now called Qwest Field is the nicest stadium I have ever been in. The sound system in the entire stadium is out of this world, the Seahawks have a local hard rock station KISW handle all of the music through out the game. You hear all kinds of great 80's rock blasting the entire game.
The 200 level club seats have a SWEEEET consessions area. In each concession area there must be 100 plus 50'' flat screens mounted the the walls or posts so you don't miss anything. The food in this area is amazing, you have your choice of many different things from grilled salmon to a huge prime rib sandwich.
The best thing is the MASSIVE Diamond vision that is at the south end of the stadium. It must be 25 yards high by 50 yards wide, they will split it into quarters or leave it full size. They have one of those little cams that follows the play from field level, replays you see these giant sized bodies flying across the screen.
I thought Safeco field was nice until I saw the new Hawks stadium.

The "Fire Jim Haslett" crowd won't get their wish this year, that's for sure. He got his vote of confidence today, and he'll be back next year.
Hey, I'm not real crazy about what Moss did either, but like my dad said, "Who knows what some jerkoff fan yelled at him right after he scored." It may have been directed at one fan and not the Green Bay fans as a whole.
In any case it will probably draw the ire of analysts and fans alike which will only do more to inspire Moss in the upcoming game against Philadelphia.
Also if they're going to penalize any players then they have to include Brett Favre for his little fist swinging incident in the third quarter (which didn't draw a flag! :wtf: ) and Grady Jackson for his little extracurricular activity against Matt Birk, which also didn't draw a flag.
I'd be a little worried if I was a Philly fan. The Vikings may not be a consistent team over the course of a whole season, but they can be very dangerous when it comes to making a 2 or 3 game run. I'm not saying the Vikes will win, but I would have rather faced Green Bay if I was a Philly fan.
I hope the Iggles stomp the Vikings' ass.
Screw Randy Moss. And he thinks the media blows his stupidity up? Howard Long is right, he's the one that walked off the field, and he's the one who acted like a fifth-grader yesterday. It doesn't matter how the Packer fans reacted, he's playing in unfriendly territory, hell guys do that every week and don't act like that.
Plummer got fined for flipping the bird, Moss will get fined for this, and that's as it should be.
Look for a Colts/Falcons Super Bowl, by the way.

You'd take him J, and you'd be losing in the playoffs, period. I understand that he's had a bad year, but what the hell has happened the last 6 or so years? He's still a very good QB, but have you seen the guy in the playoffs the last four years? If you dig up the stats, it's sick. He actually threw SIX interceptions in the playoffs one year, and that was in ONE GAME. This guy is living off of his reputation, and I don't think that's right. I'm tired of Berman, Buck, and all the rest kissing his ass every chance they get. He's one of the best in the NFL, but he's clearly not superman. I'm cool as ice Wray. Don't know if anyone noticed, but the Pack still had a chance to win that game, well into the 4th quarter. Thanks to Al Harris, that did not happen. So despite the score, it's not like the Vikings dominated the Pack. Brett throws 4 picks, and the Vikings were still trying to give that game away! You throw 4 picks against the Eagles, Pats or Steelers and see if you don't get blown out of your socks. I'm not worried about the Vikings in the least. I respect their weapons on offense, but defensively they are lacking. You look at the Birds and we've got four defensive starters that are pro bowlers, five if you count Ike Reese, plus we have Derrick Burgess and Hollis Thomas coming back to our D line after injuries. So now our defense gets even stronger! I'll take the Birds match up here over the Vikes offense.
Plus I'd also like too add that the Vikings are on their third road game now. They lost to the stinkin Redskins, beat up the sorry Pack, and now come to play the 13-3 Eagles. I don't think any Eagles fan should be worried even a little bit. The Vikes are a sorry team on the road, and sorry period if you asked me. They've lost 7 out of their last 11 games for Pete's sake! Say your goodbyes Viking, cause your boys are going home on sunday. :)

That might be true Viking but he's paid to play not worry about what the fans think. The players need to think of the crowd as part of the stadium instead of a living entity. They should have no negative interaction with the fans... ever. Then you end up with shit happening like what happened in the NBA. Eddymon, you're a fuckin tool. Go back to the baseball thread and stop fucking this one up.
I got a bad, bad feeling about this game. BUT, I had that same feeling when the Pats played Indy at the beginning of the year, and beat them, so who knows.
I honestly don't like the Pats secondary, missing both starting corners, against that offense. But, the Colts can't stop the Pats, either. And in a close game, you can't discount turnovers and big plays, which have been the Pats' hallmark in this two year run.
No predictions here, that's for sure. Should be a great game, I can see it going either way. Hell, I could see it being a blow out either way too.

Rich Hofmann | HAIR LOOMS
GREEN BAY - The almanac says the new moon will rise this morning, along with the latest Randy Moss controversy.
It will be the product of equal parts stupidity and self-centeredness, as most Moss things are. Last week, he left his team on the field to try a last-ditch onside kick as he went to the locker room early, igniting a weeklong hoo-hah. Yesterday, even after spraining an ankle, Moss caught two touchdown passes and the Vikings earned a trip to Philadelphia to play the Eagles by ousting Green Bay from the playoffs, 31-17. But he still managed to overshadow everything by rubbing up against the goal post and pretending to moon the crowd at Lambeau Field after the second touchdown.
Some people are born to wear bull's-eyes, and Moss is one of them. And so it continues.
"The league will deal with that - it's not up to me," Vikings coach Mike Tice said, wearily abdicating. And the NFL will be heard on this - in the year 2005 A.J. (After Janet), of that you can be certain.
Imagine: On the Fox telecast, they wouldn't even show the naughty replay in the interests of good taste. And, as anyone who has watched their prime-time lineup knows, they'll show anything.
Meanwhile, the artist left the interpretation for others.
"No interviews," Moss said, in the crowded Vikings locker room, with a public-relations guy stationed between him and the circling media.
Still, someone ventured another question.
"If you're from Green Bay, to hell with you," Moss said, sweetly. And when the attempted-questioner said he was from Milwaukee, not Green Bay, Moss said, "You're part of Wisconsin, homey."
It had been a long, active evening of interaction between Moss and the homeys. According to teammates, they were flipping him off from the stands and Moss was smiling. They were yelling not-nice things at him on the Vikings' bench in the first quarter and he was pointing at the scoreboard and yelling back, "17 to [blankerblanking] nothing." It was all quite charming.
Now, this. The league will almost certainly fine him and Moss will almost certainly react and back and forth it will go, just as happened last week when Moss did a series of television interviews that seemed to dig him in deeper, further cementing his reputation as a bad guy and a bad teammate.
But did it hurt the Vikings? The scoreboard yesterday indicated otherwise. Long term, having a guy like Moss around has to be exhausting for an organization. Short term, though, who knows?
Meanwhile, his teammates dodged.
"I didn't see it," said the superb Daunte Culpepper (four TD passes), smiling warily at reporters. "Maybe you all didn't see it."
The quarterback then asked to be told what Moss did, apparently so he might be able to brace himself for the controversy that was coming. When told, Culpepper laughed. And, just to set the record straight, he said, "No, we didn't practice that move."
Center Matt Birk - who went to Moss after the early exit last week and told him what he thought of the maneuver (and he didn't think much of it) - said he didn't see this week's installment, but heard about it later.
"A full moon?" Birk asked, rhetorically.
But then he got down to the basic point, the one that they all ultimately make. You don't get the impression that very much in Vikingland is scripted these days, but they all know the following lines by heart.
As Birk said: "Like him or not, the guy can make plays ... That's Randy. You take the good with the bad."
On the field yesterday was very good, even on an ankle that will bear watching this week. As for the Packers, well, they played terribly - or, maybe, abysmally; whichever is worse.
Although they all weren't his fault, Brett Favre threw four interceptions (and it should have been five). They fumbled three times and somehow managed to fall on all of them. A missed tackle led to the first Minnesota touchdown, and interceptions led to a later touchdown and a field goal. A couple of Green Bay penalties helped along another Vikings touchdown drive.
Earlier, with a scrambling first down inside the 5-yard line within reach, Favre dopily threw a pass into the end zone even though he was several yards past the line of scrimmage. Then, to top it off, kicker Ryan Longwell missed the resulting 28-yard field goal try.
Other than that, the Packers played swell. And now Favre is left to contemplate retirement, saying he wasn't sure if he would be back next season, and that he would try to make up his mind soon, and that, "If I come back, I want to do it for the right reasons, and that's to lead this team to the Super Bowl."
The Packers, especially on defense, look to be miles away from title contention. They trailed yesterday by 17-0 and then by 24-10 at halftime. A 1-yard touchdown by Najeh Davenport cut it to 24-17 in the second minute of the fourth quarter, but then came the Vikings' final answer - an audible and another touchdown to Moss over old friend Al Harris, the Green Bay cornerback who won a playoff game last year by jumping a route and who got burned by jumping a route this year, as Moss stop-and-go'd him into oblivion.
"We were able to fool 31 [Harris]," Culpepper said. "He jumped the route and Randy just ran by him."
And then came the celebration, and now will come the repercussions, and Culpepper just kind of sighed.
"Randy felt real bad about what he did last week," the quarterback said. "He's a good friend of mine. I know he has it inside of him to be a winner."
Way, way inside, apparently.
Here's what an Eagles fan on a Vikings Message Board had to say about the whole deal:
I'm an Eagles fan and i don't have a problem in the least in what Moss did. It was very creative, and he summed up the feelings of the Vikings fan base.
Eagles fans feel a kinship w/ Vikings fans. At least i do. We both have to deal w/ media darling teams as rivals, with arrogant fans who take their success for granted. And what Moss did was a big F.U. to the Packer-loving media, and the Packer fans, who, in spite of their boorish behavior (like any other fans) are always given a free ride by the media. Packer fans are 'great, salt of the earth people', and Eagles fans are thugs. Please. Give me a break.
If i were i Vikings fan, i would be in hog heaven after that Moss celebration.
And as an Eagles fan, i give props to the Vikings fans who stuck with their team the past couple of years. Days like yesterday remind you of why you invest so much emotion in your team, why you continue to come back year after year depsite heartbreaking losses. Eagles fans can relate.
Let's face it. The media and the NFL as a whole have coddled the Green Bay franchise for years. Moss fake moons the crowd, and they go apeshit. Should he have done the fake mooning? Probably not. Was it juvenile? Absolutely. But how seriously should we take a fake mooning when the people it was intended for were wearing giant foam pieces of cheese on their heads? On the other hand, Favre throws punches and no flag? And then that dipshit DL from Green Bay, Grady Jackson throws punches at Matt Birk and guess what? No flag! The announcers practically had Brett Favres dick in their mouths when he pulled that bone headed play which ultimately cost them at least 3 points. They were laughing and carrying on and saying shit like "Oh well, that's Brett Favre!"
Some interesting light shed on the mooning incident by Tony Dungy:
I just heard something very interesting on ESPN News. Tony Dungy was asked about Moss' celebration and he responded with a smile. He said there's a tradition at Lambeau that he's experienced 7 times now: when GB wins, there are a bunch of Packer fans who line up and moon the opposing team as they leave the stadium.
What I've actually found out, is that they moon the opposing teams buses as they leave.
Actually what I think happened is that Tice told Moss not to let the fans get to him and to turn the other cheek, and Moss misinterpreted it. :D
Listening to the game, me and my brother were looking at each other with that "What the fuck?!" look, because despite the fact that Minnesota was pretty much in control of the game throughout, the announcers couldn't shut up about how great Brett Favre is. IMO, he is still a good player, but he's had a tendency to choke in big games in the last few years.
My favorite part of the whole deal was Collinsworth saying "Moss is hurt, he can barely run. They can come out of the cover two!" I looked at my brother and said "If they do, watch Moss catch one in the endzone" and sure as shit there it was and I was jumping around saying "I told you, I told you!" Then, Collinsworth has the audacity to bitch about Green Bay going into single coverage on Moss! Fucking moron!
As far as the Eagles game, I'm not sweating it. My season is complete.

Cris Collinsworth is the biggest fucking moron announcer out there. He and that fat, bus riding, tub of shit John Madden should team up and do games together. They both suck.
As far as Randy Moss goes, let him fake moon whomever he wants. I think he is a fuckin' prick, but oh well. I felt the same way about T.O., but now that he plays for my favorite team, I have a little more understanding of a true asshole on a team. The biggest difference between T.O. and Moss is Randy is more NBA meaning I can see him doing the things those assholes are doing to ruin the sport with the ghetto bullshit, while Owens is just ego and having fun.
I think next week's game between Philly and the Vikes should be a good one, but I think Philly's defense will step up and win it for them.
I do think the most interesting game will be the Pats and Indy. The Pats have a lot of injuries, so we'll see how hungry they are to get back to the Super Bowl. Indy is easily the most scary team in the playoffs right now. I am glad Philly won't have to face them unless they meet in the Super Bowl.
What gets kind of lost in all the Moss hype is the stuff he does for kids in the Minneapolis area and elsewhere. The guy has a big heart, just doesn't have much use for adults. That is true about Randy, but the only reason that you don't hear about his community work is because of his own antics. So he's really at fault there. Walking out on your team dude? Nah that's not cool, and I'm glad Matt Birk said something to him about that. And even still, the guy said he didn't care about what Birk said to him. That's horseshit man. He is a guy that truly doesn't get it, and most likely never will.

What gets kind of lost in all the Moss hype is the stuff he does for kids in the Minneapolis area and elsewhere. The guy has a big heart, just doesn't have much use for adults. This is the same guy that signs autographs for kids, but turns down adults saying "Too big dawg". My Dad put it like this "One 'oh shit!' will cancel out 100 atta boys!"
There is much truth to that. I once had the opportunity to sit and BS with Jose Canseco for an hour in a hotel restaurant. Okay...so he ran his wife off of the road, shot steroids(he was the pioneer of baseball roids) and had numerous infractions with the law. No model citizen my any means! But he did a TON of stuff for charity in Miami and was one helluva nice guy to hang with and was quite respectful.
Now that I think of it...maybe Moss and Canseco did the charity stuff for community service lol !!
I want to give Moss the benefit of the doubt, I really do. Moss, Owens, and Harrison are the three best WRs in the league, in any order (although Muhammed and Horn had great years, they are currently on the couch). Moss deserves praise for what he does on the field. And I'm aware of some of his good deeds off the field, too....ESPN the Mag has covered that side of Moss well.
But Moss doesn't care. He doesn't care about his image. He seems to relish the fact that he comes off like a punk. As long as that is the case, the fans and the media will focus squarely on that side of Moss. I don't think he's misunderstood, and I don't think he's a victim. He has every opportunity to change his image...if he cared. Look at Terrell Owens.....he hasn't acheived media darling status, but you know what, he's getting there. Look at Joe Horn, there's no one in the entire league who runs his mouth on the field as much as Joe, and yeah, he'll put on a show in the end zone if he gets a chance, but you know what, he loves his fans, and his fans love him. Because he doesn't cross the line. Moss not only crosses the line, he pole vaults it, and if you don't like it, kiss his scrawny ass. As long as that is the case, he'll be the top story every night at 6PM on ESPN.
Forget the fans and their behavior, whether it's right or wrong. And forget the announcers and their love affair with Brett Favre, right or wrong. When was the last time you saw Favre point at the scoreboard and yell at the fans, "Look at the score, motherfucker!!!" Whether or not Brett is done isn't the story of the day. He knows he blew it, and he knows time is short. And if I were a betting man, I would bet that he retires. Well, I said that two years ago.....the bottom line, IMHO, is this: Brett has won a couple of NFC Championships and a Super Bowl. Brett is a team guy in a team sport. Randy Moss has won...........
Randy Moss has won the 2004-05 Classlessness Award. Some people love that. Fine, but don't be surprised that the majority of football fans do not.
Football, at it's best, is full of positive lessons that translate over into "real life". At it's worst, it's a freak show. I'll take the positive any day.
But here's the positive side of my rant (please forgive me for my rant). Moss can change all of this. People have short memories nowadays, especially in sports. He can be known for all of the positive qualities he possesses. But he has to change. And right now, he could care less about any of that. And that is just sad.

You know, upon further thought, I don't have an issue with Moss' "fake moon" - the Simpsons has Bart mooning all the time at 7:30 pm, mooning is a traditional teen age - early 20's prank, it's just not a big deal. It's a HELL of a lot less "ugly" than the old throat slash, which Mr. Favre has done for example. It's more spontaneous and less tiresome than some 30 year old doing a chicken dance out there after a TD. I think it's funny, and Joe Buck should be ashamed of himself for reacting that way. It just wasn't a big deal. I wonder if he reacts that way if a couple of fans ACTUALLY mooned Moss. I doubt it. He may have said it was uncalled for, but he wouldn't have been all over himself about how disgusting it was.

Hey guys, I just found this and I thought I would share:
The fallout of the Randy Moss touchdown celebration continues to be felt without the critical question being asked -- was there significance to what he did?
The same national media that Randy Moss referred to as pro-Vikings continues to hammer him for his post-touchdown celebration Sunday. Yet, through all the self-righteous condemnation of Moss, nobody has asked what should have been the obvious question -- why would Moss pretend to moon fans?
The answer is simple and makes sense. It's become something of a tradition for Packers fans to line up and moon the team bus of the opposition when they lose. They've done it to the Vikings, the Bucs, the Bears, the Cowboys and others. In a bizarre butt-crack way, it's actually a sign of respect.
Moss has seen his share of these left-handed compliments from Packers fans and was merely giving back in kind. The flap that ensued was started by FOX Sports Joe Buck, who was looking for something bad to say about the Vikings all day apparently, and followed up by the Hee-Haw studio crew after the game. Once set in motion, this non-story took on a life of its own.
The bottom line for Moss is that any time he does or says anything that rubs someone the wrong way, we're all going to be subjected to the stories of the water bottle -- which was six years ago by the way -- and the other stories of Randy's misdemeanor past.
Is Moss deserving of criticism? Sure he is. Throwing a faux moon isn't the smartest thing he could have done. But, knowing why he did it explains a lot -- something none of the people who made it a headline story seem to understand. Consider it a backhanded homage to Packers fans -- or just a case of Moss turning the other cheek.
Fuckers stole my "turning the other cheek" line though!

I'll be honest with ya Sucka, I think the rest of the Vikings organization loves it too. Look at it this way, with Moss drawing all of the attention, it leaves the rest of the team to do what they need to do to prepare without any distractions to them. I wouldn't be surprised to see them come out and play the way they did last weekend because of all of this. Will they win? I doubt it, but at least the media isn't bugging the Vikings defensive corps abut the way they played this year!

I'm not so sure about that. I turn on the tv I see reporters sticking camera's in Mike Tice's face, and Matt Birk, and Culpepper. I can see if it was just Moss they were hounding, but it's alot of the players on that team, and it can become a distraction. Wether it'll be a negative or positive distraction remains to be seen. I just like how the Birds are answering questions about playing the Vikings, and the Vikings are talking about Moss' antics. Plus I heard that his ankle will really hinder him this weekend, so that is also a plus.

True. But you can tell when they interview Birk that he really doesn't care for Moss. As a player I think that motivates you to elevate your game because you don't want to have your play related to something like that if you do lose. I think that is especially true in Birks case. We'll see come Sunday how it plays out. I just hope it's a good game.

Yea he doesn't care for Moss in the slightest and I don't blame him for one bit.I think it'll be a good game, but ultimately the best team will win. You should hear sports radio in Philly though man. The fans are NERVOUS! I'm cool as a cucumber man. These games here are easy, it's that damn championship game that's a bitch! :brickwall
This weekend, game for game, is going to be about matchups in the secondary, and turnovers. I don't think Minnesota's receiver corps can overcome Philly's D-Sec. Culpepper will have to make something happen, more often than not on the run, and he can't afford INT's. He's capable but he's going to have his hands full with Sheldon Williams and Brian Dawkins. Philly will have to get some scoring from Pinkston and First Down Freddie. They won't win if those two guys blow it. I'm not sure if Philly's running game alone will take them all the way, Westbrook's capable, and Levens will have to step as well. But if Philly shows any sign of not trusting Pinkston and Mitchell, it could be a long day. I think Philly wins, but this might be a tight game.
I think the ATL-STL game is going to be the same deal, both have capable running games, both have capable receivers. I'm STILL waiting for Vick and Price to have their day, and this could be it, because I have doubts about the Rams' secondary. Vick will have to play smart and let his arm do more than his feet. Bulger will have at least one face-to-face with Patrick Kerney. Keith Brooking will look a lot like Teddy Bruschi. I think ATL wins, perhaps even rolls. But Torry Holt could be a spoiler.
Indy-Pats.....I'm keeping it short and sweet. Manning and Company will rock the Pats' depleted secondary. Will Brady have his way as well? Indy wins a squeaker, this may be the Tivo game of the weekend. Dwight Freeney could be the difference maker, if he can get to Brady.
To me, the Steelers-Jets game is the toughest to call. For all of Roethlisberger's attributes, he's still a rookie. He's done a fine job of making few mistakes. Whether that continues will be key in this game. I think Coach Edwards has been getting a lot out of his team all year, maybe not on the scale of Marty Snottenheimer, but the Jets are overachievers. Confidence is going to be their biggest asset. Look for LaMont Jordan to be a possible difference-maker in a tight game. For me, this is a toss-up, but if a gun were held to my head, I'm jumping on top of the Bus and hanging on for dear life. Steelers win, perhaps in OT.
That's what I think, but as little Arnold Jackson says, Who Fucking Cares? :thumb:

Did you guys hear Mike Vanderjagt's comments about the Patriots??? Wray, your thoughts?
SuckaInA3Piece
01.11.05, 06:03 PM
FOXBORO, Mass. -- Mike Vanderjagt's mouth is still causing trouble, even though he's criticizing his opponents and not his coach and quarterback.
On Tuesday, New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison fired back at the Indianapolis kicker.
"He has to be a jerk, Vanderjerk," Harrison said.
Many of Harrison's teammates brushed off Vanderjagt's remark, made shortly after Indianapolis dominated Denver 49-24 in the first round of the AFC playoffs. Speaking about the Patriots, he said "I think they're ripe for the picking" in Sunday's playoff matchup with the Colts.
Vanderjagt also said on WISH-TV in Indianapolis that, "I think they're not as good as the beginning of the year and not as good as last year."
Those comments stirred little controversy in Indianapolis, where his outspoken nature is well known. That's a sharp contrast to his comments two years ago when he said after the Super Bowl that Peyton Manning should show more emotion and coach Tony Dungy is too mild-mannered to be effective.
Manning then called Vanderjagt an "idiot kicker" and Dungy said Vanderjagt should have come to him with his complaints instead of airing them on a Canadian cable television show. Manning and Vanderjagt later apologized to each other and Vanderjagt met with Dungy.
Now Vanderjagt has provided material that coach Bill Belichick might use to provide extra motivation for a team seeking its third Super Bowl title in four years.
"Have I ever done it?" he said with a tiny smile. "Yeah, probably I have."
But quarterback Tom Brady didn't think Vanderjagt's words carried much weight.
"I mean he's just talking, you know? It's a kicker talking," Brady said. "Whether one guy says something or not, a team that's won two Super Bowls in three years and has established the type of reputation for playing hard and winning football games, I mean it kind of speaks for itself.
"I don't think we ever make comments that teams are ripe for the picking or plucking," he said. "I really think we have enough motivation at this point."
Vanderjagt indicated on a radio interview during the season that he may not be back with the Colts next year. His cap number is around $2.8 million and he told the radio station he might kick in the CFL where he started his pro career in 1993.
"That's great for Vanderjagt," said Pats linebacker Willie McGinest, who has made big, game-altering plays in each of New England's last three victories over the Colts. "Hopefully, he makes it the next time."
The last reference was a reminder that, in this year's regular-season opener, Vanderjagt missed a potential game-tying field goal in the final seconds.
Instead, his NFL record streak of 42 consecutive successful field-goal attempts ended and the Patriots won 27-24.
"He should focus on making the field goals, not worried about what we're doing over here, OK?" Harrison said. "I mean, he has to be a jerk, Vanderjerk, if he sits there and criticizes Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy, one of the best quarterbacks in the game and one of the best coaches in the game. And then for him to put his foot in his mouth again just shows what type of character he has."
Vanderjagt made 20 of 25 field goals this season after going 37-for-37 last year. The 20 field goals are the fewest of his seven-year career, but he had the fewest opportunities with Manning throwing 49 touchdown passes for an offense that scored 61 touchdowns, nearly four per game.
New England's Adam Vinatieri went 31-for-33.
"You won't catch me (making such remarks). I try to just do my job on the field and I guess it's better to not be heard, or seen maybe," Vinatieri said. "He's as much a member of the team as anybody so I guess it's his right to say what he feels and thinks. But, like I said, I don't know what he said, so it's no big deal."
Punter Josh Miller, another Patriot who takes the field only when a drive falls short, understood why Vanderjagt might have spoken out.
"People do funny things when there's a microphone in front of them. They really say what's on their mind. I would never do that," Miller said.
But would he have rushed to cover Vanderjagt's mouth if they were teammates?
"I wouldn't have to. Someone else would have beaten me to that one," he said.
McGinest said that Vanderjagt's comments probably will not have much bearing on this weekend's game, but hinted he felt they were ill-timed.
"If Vanderjagt feels confident enough to guarantee victory, that's great," said the Pats veteran linebacker. "Great for him. But [because he's a kicker] there's going to be a whole bunch of plays when he's not going to be out there [on the field]. The rest of his guys will be out there dealing with it."
Did you guys hear Mike Vanderjagt's comments about the Patriots??? Wray, your thoughts?
No big deal, to me. Just a stupid kicker running his mouth. Nobody cares about the kickers. :D
Though, he better put his money where his mouth is if the game ends up in his hands.
I don't know what all the fuss is about. Seems like much to do about nothing since the Steelers are going to destroy anything that crosses their path.

Minnesota wins in OT on a Morten Andersen field goal (Vengence is mine bitches!) and then goes on to win the Super Bowl against the Steelers, making the Steelers the second team in NFL history to win 15 games in the regular season and not win the Super Bowl (Minnesota being the first) and also avenging the loss to them in Super Bowl IX. NO PUSHOVER
By Bob Brookover
Inquirer Staff Writer
Proof that the Eagles can win without Terrell Owens as their No. 1 receiver and with Todd Pinkston in that role does exist.
Before you object and attempt to present all the recent negative evidence that has circulated on the Internet and in the highlight reels, please read on.
Flash back to one year ago yesterday.
The Eagles, without Owens and without Brian Westbrook, found themselves down by 14-0 after one quarter against the Green Bay Packers in an NFC divisional playoff game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Everybody, of course, remembers the frantic final moments of the fourth quarter. Everybody remembers the fourth-and-26 connection between Donovan McNabb and Freddie Mitchell that saved the season.
Conveniently forgotten is Pinkston's contribution to that unlikely overtime victory. Before and after Fourth and 26, Pinkston provided a series of huge plays.
It was Pinkston who helped get the Eagles within seven points in the second quarter when he pulled in a 45-yard pass from McNabb that placed the ball at the Green Bay 7-yard line.
It was Pinkston, on the first play of the fourth quarter, who stayed alive in the end zone, allowing McNabb to scramble out of the pocket and find his top receiver in the right corner of the end zone for a game-tying touchdown.
It was Pinkston, after Mitchell's astounding fourth-down conversion, who got open on a third-and-7 play from the Green Bay 29. With the wind in the Eagles' faces, McNabb hit Pinkston for a 10-yard completion that made David Akers' game-tying field goal in the final seconds of regulation a lot less difficult.
Pinkston finished that game with seven catches for 95 yards and a touchdown - numbers that might even satisfy T.O.'s thirst for the football. But Pinkston isn't sure anyone remembers any of his positive moments on the football field.
"It's funny you should ask," he said Monday after the Eagles started to prepare for Sunday's NFC divisional playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. "When you go back to last year, all people talk about is the Carolina game. And this year, in the regular season, it has been all about two plays. Now, everybody is, 'Hey, what's Todd Pinkston going to do? Get rid of him.' I don't worry about that. All I'm thinking about is that this is a new year and a new playoff."
Support for Pinkston, Mitchell and Greg Lewis has come from McNabb since the Eagles lost Owens to a severe ankle injury.
"T.O. isn't the only receiver out there," McNabb said. "I think a lot of times people forget the fact that we play with three or four wide receivers, and those guys make big plays for us. I'm not really worried about any negative things happening to us in the pass game. I think it's going to be awesome.
"I think we're going to open up some eyes and make people understand that we can run this offense with the guys we have."
Still, the skeptics remain.
Some are Eagles fans, others are NFL analysts. One is a cornerback for the Vikings.
When Antoine Winfield was asked Monday by the St. Paul Pioneer Press how much the Eagles would miss Owens, he didn't hesitate with an answer.
"It definitely hurts them," he said. "It's like when [Randy] Moss went down for us. Terrell is a big-play guy, and he brought a lot of energy to the team. To lose a guy like that, the team takes a blow."
The absence of Moss earlier this season raises an interesting point. In three games without their superstar receiver, the Vikings averaged 27 points. In 14 games with Moss, they have averaged 25.4 points.
Winfield, however, believes that Owens' absence is more harmful to the Eagles than Moss' absence was to the Vikings.
"We have very good complementary receivers, and the running backs in the backfield," Winfield said. "With them, I guess the guy that is going to have to step up is Pinkston or Freddie Mitchell. We all know about Westbrook. He's going to touch the ball a lot this week."
But?
Owens "opens it up for the other receivers," Winfield said. "He gives Westbrook more room to work. Some teams double-team [Owens]. They can the spread the field more with [Owens]. I don't know what they're going to do without him."
The Eagles believe they are going to win without T.O., and Pinkston believes he can be a big part of it. You're just not going to hear him say that.
"I don't like to talk," he said. "That's not me. I don't want to get into saying what I'm going to do. The only thing I have to do is worry about what's expected of me because I know what I'm going to do and what my teammates expect out of me."

You can bet that the Pats will use Vanderjerk's comments to get extra fired up.
I think it's comical that the guy who couldn't get it done in game 1, and who isn't even on the field for kickoffs and therefore has NO physical impact on the game, is the one yapping. Somebody needs to stick his dumb ass in a locker. Vinatieri (spell?) has made a couple of the greatest kicks in NFL history, is a weight room maniac with the full respect of every teammate, and doesn't hesitate to stick his nose in on tackles, yet you'd NEVER hear him talking shit.
While I made my fears about this game well known, let's all not forget something - the Pats are 8-1 with this "depleted" secondary, and that includes beating both St. Louis and KC - two very good passing teams - on the road. And that 1 loss to the Phins was more a result of Brady's poor game.
I kind of get the feeling this game could be one of those "last team with the ball wins" type deals
jrk5150
01.12.05, 06:14 AM
One more note about this game - my guess/hope is that the Pats will give up yardage until the red zone, trying to avoid the quick strike big plays (as they did in week 1, which is why James went off). Once in the red zone, they can get their very good and experienced - and HEALTHY - linebackers and safeties more into the passing game since the field shortens up and their corners are less exposed. It also opens up the blitzing since the Indy receivers have less room to move - which is what hurt the Colts in week 1, with McGinest getting to Peyton on a critical play. If they can keep the Colts kicking FG's, they win. The Colts need 7's, not 3's.
SuckaInA3Piece
01.12.05, 06:16 AM
Not that they even need the extra motivation, but yea it'll be locker room material for sure. You just don't come out and say shit like that when your QB is 0-5 against another team. Just go about your business and win games. I believe that's what the Pats have been doing for about two years now.

That was such an ignorant thing for him to say. It's embarrassing, and I'm sure Manning isn't happy about it. And knowing you guys are missing a couple players in the secondary isn't making me feel any better about going in. We do have a better chance of winning now then we did, because we are a much better team. I can see it coming down to a field goal.

It all depends on the Pats. I sell to a company owned by Robert Kraft and he told me I'll get a pair if the Pats go this year (He gave my boss a pair last year). I've actually got a trade show in Tampa until the 4th anyway, so if I do get tickets I'll drive up to Jacksonville for sure.

LOL! What did you play? I figured you for a "football or nothing" guy. I played the trombone until my senior year then switched to cymbals. It was so lame but my parents told me it'd be good for me. I wasn't allowed to play football because it was "too dangerous." I got hurt more in backyard football games than I ever would've if I'd played in school with pads. EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Randy Moss didn't practice with the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday because of a sprained right ankle, but he's listed as probable for Sunday's playoff game at Philadelphia.
The wide receiver aggravated the injury several times during his seven-year career, most recently in Minnesota's 31-17 win at Green Bay last week.
A partial hamstring tear caused Moss to miss three games this season and play sparingly in two others.
Also held out of practice were strong safety Corey Chavous, who is doubtful with a broken left elbow, and running back Moe Williams, doubtful with a sprained right ankle.
Wide receiver Kelly Campbell, who has a separated right shoulder, and linebacker Mike Nattiel, who has a hyperextended right knee, did practice and are probable for the Eagles game.

Fox denies Vikings request to pull Buck from booth
Eden Prairie, Minn -- (AP) Minnesota Vikings owner Red McCombs asked Fox Sports to remove play-by-play announcer Joe Buck from Sunday's divisional playoff game at Philadelphia because of his sharp criticism of wide receiver Randy Moss.
After catching a touchdown pass in last weekend's win at Green Bay, Moss celebrated in the end zone by pretending to pull down his pants and moon the Packers fans before briefly wiggling his back side against the goal post. Buck immediately called it a "disgusting act".
That statement, in McCombs' view, was out of line. A two-sentence news release issued by the team said McCombs felt Buck's comments "suggested a prejudice that surpassed objective reporting."
Dan Bell, a Fox spokesman, said the network has "no intention whatsoever" of removing Buck.
"We hope Mr. McCombs enjoys Joe's play-by-play call Sunday, because he'll be in the booth," Bell said.
McCombs, whose office is in San Antonio, was not immediately available for further comment.
Buck, during an interview on Sporting News Radio earlier this week, stood by his criticism.
"I have nothing against Randy Moss," Buck said. "I don't even know the guy. I just know that with the history he's had, and coming off that game at Washington, it was just stunning to see that."
Moss drew plenty of negative scrutiny the week before for walking off the field in frustration while his teammates lined up for an onside kick with 2 seconds left in a 21-18 loss to the Redskins.

OF COURSE Vanderdouches comments will be "locker room fodder", are you that naive? If anyone thinks that coaches don't grasp onto any type of motivational tool they can at this time of year, then you need to follow a different sport because you have no clue. No, I'm not talking college type rah rah shit, but motivation is absolutely a tool they use, even as they talk about how they don't need to motivate their team. I don't think there is a better example of a "professional team" that you'd think wouldn't need this type of kick in the ass than the Pats over the last 2 years, and yet you'd be wrong. Belichick pulls out all the stops to get his guys into the disrespected underdog train of thought.
What happens every time a team wins a big game - right after the game the players spouting off "nobody thought we could do this", "we showed the world", "people doubted us", blah blah blah - where do you think that shit comes from? Coaches will pull out whatever they need to get guys that extra bit of fire that is natural when there's real or perceived "disrespect". NFL games are incredibly emotional, and a little bit of extra oomph of motivation can make a difference.
If Vanderjackoff didn't say it, Belichick would have invented some other sign of disrespect to get into his guy's heads. It doesn't have to have a lot of merit to work...
For the Dolphins fans......not groundbreaking, but some may care.

A second member of the Carolina Panthers coaching staff could be joining the Miami Dolphins.
Tight ends coach Dave Magazu has interviewed with the Dolphins for the offensive line coach job and is expected to be offered the job, according to sources in Miami.
Special teams coach Scott O'Brien previously "retired" from coaching and accepted a job in football operations with the Dolphins.
Magazu, 47, joined the Panthers in 2003. Before making Carolina his first NFL stop, Magazu had worked mostly as a college offensive line coach.

Don't look like a Vikings fan if you ... value your safety and possessions' - Steve Erban, Minnesota travel agent
Should Vikings fans fear Philly?
BY ARON KAHN
St. Paul Pioneer Press
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- When it comes to greeting fans of opposing teams, Philadelphia may not be quite as advertised — the City of Brotherly Love.
Plenty of tickets are available for the Minnesota Vikings' second-round playoff game against the Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, in part because verbal and even physical abuse clearly await Vikings fans, some travel professionals said Wednesday.
Their advice: If you go to the game, skip the Vikings clothing or other team regalia. They could be hazardous to your health.
"Don't look like a Vikings fan if you want to enjoy the game, and value your safety and possessions,'' said Steve Erban, who runs Creative Charters in Stillwater. "The stadium is beyond civilization.''
Erban said when he brought Green Bay Packers fans to Philadelphia for a playoff game last year, Eagles fans pelted them and him with coins and beer bottles and tried to knock them down in the aisles.
"Any time they scored a touchdown, you got bathed,'' Erban said. "I witnessed a Packer plastic helmet, worn by a woman, taken off her head, and then they pounced on it and broke it into pieces. All of that is a staple.''
Michael Nowakowski, a partner in the Ticket King agency in Hudson, Wis., offered a similar but less-scathing critique. "Philadelphia fans have a bad reputation. They take it a little too seriously. It's almost scary if you wear the colors of the visiting team,'' he said.
For the safety reason and others, numerous tickets are available through some ticket agencies and tour companies, who buy the seats from season-ticket holders and sell them at higher prices.
"We've sold a couple of dozen tickets, from $245 to $850 a ticket,'' said Nowakowski, adding that the number is low for a playoff game.
Last week, for the playoff game against the Packers in Green Bay, Ticket King "probably sold 10 times as many tickets,'' said Nowakowski's partner, Brian Obert. "It's so much easier for people to get to Green Bay than to Philly, and then there's the natural rivalry,'' he said.
But the Ticket King partners said there are other reasons why the count is low.
"Vikings fans are generally not good travelers,'' Nowakowski said. "We sell more tickets to people in Montana who are Vikings fans who want to come to Minnesota than to Minnesota fans who want to go out of town. The exceptions are Bears and Packers games. But if this game was being played in a warm climate, there'd be a lot more interest in going to the game and going on a vacation and sitting on the beach.''
At Creative Charters, "we're taking a small group, under 20 people, but we had more negative e-mail from people telling us why they won't go to Philadelphia,'' Erban said.
"This is the only game that almost nobody will go to.''
If the Vikings win, he said he expects 100 to 200 fans wanting to book trips to the next round, in Atlanta or St. Louis.
But Dennis Garrity, who runs Vikings Fan Tours, based in Ashwaubenon, Wis., said that despite the reputation of Eagles fans, "orders are still coming in. We're arranging for 250, but there might be 350 or 400.
"Fans there are kind of aggressive and not always the friendliest, but it's not like risking your life,'' Garrity said.
Eagles spokeswoman Doris Howe said the criticisms are off base.
"We would refute that allegation absolutely 100 percent,'' she said. "Eagles fans definitely are passionate, no argument about that. But folks here in Philadelphia are friendly, and we certainly welcome anyone, any time, to enjoy football games here.
"Our reports are that it's a fun venue."

Yea they built a small court house in the vet due to all the crazy shit that would happen at Eagles games. The court is not at the Linc due to the lack of fighting and lewd behaviour.
Here's somethin for you Packer fans:
MILWAUKEE -- Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan is poised to strip coach Mike Sherman of his general manager duties and pursue Seattle Seahawks vice president of football operations Ted Thompson for the job, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday.
Two National Football League sources who are familiar with the Packers said it was widely known in NFL circles that Harlan is prepared to split the duties and make a run at Thompson, the newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, in an article published Thursday in Gannett's Wisconsin newspapers, PackersNews.com reported that the Packers are pursuing Thompson as a candidate to head their football operations.
Thompson was pro personnel director and director of player personnel for the Packers in 1992-99.
In a third article, the Wisconsin State Journal in Madison quoted two NFL sources as saying that if Harlan decides to take the GM duties from Sherman, Thompson would be a strong candidate for the position.
The Journal Sentinel said Harlan returned from an NFL owners committee meeting in New York late Wednesday afternoon and didn't return a phone message left at his office, nor did he immediately return a call Thursday from The Associated Press.
The team's director of public relations, Jeff Blumb, said Thursday the Packers had "no announcement of any type to make regarding our coach or general manager."
The newspaper said Thompson was scouting at the East-West Shrine game in the San Francisco Bay area and was unavailable for comment, and Sherman has been in staff meetings all week.
Sherman is scheduled to hold his season-ending news conference Friday.
He has a 53-27 regular season mark as head coach but is 2-4 in postseason play.
Sherman became coach in 2000 and added the Packers general manager title after Ron Wolf retired from that position in 2001.
Thompson, 51, worked in Green Bay with all three of the Packers' top personnel officials: personnel analyst John Schneider, pro personnel director Reggie McKenzie and college scouting director John Dorsey.
Schneider and Dorsey also worked with Thompson in Seattle.
Since joining the Seahawks in January 2000, Thompson has run the draft and advised Seattle coach Mike Holmgren on personnel matters.
Thompson was with the Packers when Sherman was an assistant coach in 1997 and 1998,
He is under contract with the Seahawks until June and Sherman has one year left on his contract for the coach and general manager positions.
Sherman's agent, Bob LaMonte, has been pushing for a contract extension.
The Journal Sentinel quoted an NFL source as saying Harlan had no choice but to wait until any new GM is on board to discuss an extension. He said Harlan might have to forgo the extension and risk losing Sherman after the 2005 season.
But the newspaper reported that one Packers source said he doubted Sherman would not accept his new role willingly and work as hard as he could to get along with the new general manager.
Harlan would have to get permission from the Seahawks to interview Thompson, but the Seahawks cannot prevent him from interviewing or taking the job if Harlan offers Thompson full authority over the football operation.

I wasn't singling you out, I just quoted you because there was some criticism of Moss in your post.
And yes I do realize that players mix it up on the field once in a while, but it usually involves a couple of players on the line or in the vicinity of the action, but Favre came running in from about 10 yards away to poke/shove Willie Offord right in front of the refs, and that usually draws a flag. That's where I have an issue. What do you think would have happened if it had been Moss that had come flying in there to do something like that. Flags a plenty, a fine and who knows what else.
Someone else put it like this:
Favre could have grabbed an axe and decapitated Offord and the refs wouldn't have ejected him. And Cris Collinsworth would have praised Favre for showing passion for the game. We are talking about Brett Favre, after all. Nope, no double standards here.
Roethlisberger ready for first playoff start
Wednesday, January 12, 2005
By Teresa Varley
Steelers.com
Head coach Bill Cowher stated that at this point in the season there really aren’t any ‘rookies’ anymore on the field, but Saturday’s game against the Jets still will be the first playoff game for Steelers rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and he is ready for it.
“It will be interesting,” said Roethlisberger. “I’m excited about it.
“I think it’s a different speed now. That’s what everyone has always said. All the veteran players say that it’s not like the regular season, it all gets faster and all gets more complex so that’s something that you have to get use to and get ready for, I guess.”
This will be Roethlisberger’s second start against the Jets, coming out on top during the regular season, and he knows the type of challenge their defense will present for him and the offense.
“They’re a great defense; we saw that the first time,” said Roethlisberger. “We didn’t play very well the first time at all and I think that a lot of that had to do with how good their defense was. They came out and showed us a lot of different things and we had to adjust to it on the run a lot during that game. Now it’s something that we have seen and hopefully we will be a little more prepared for it.”
Roethlisberger won’t be getting paid for his efforts against the Jets and that is just fine with him. Instead he is reaching out to those in need as he is donating his entire game check to tsunami relief.
“Obviously a game check isn’t anything like some of the Yankees and some of those people who donated a million dollars, but everything that they can get probably helps,” said Roethlisberger, who talked with is agent Leigh Steinberg about a way to help out. “Hopefully it’s a challenge to other NFL players because you have seen the NBA guys do it per point and all that stuff. As much as we can give, I’m sure that they will take and it will be a good help for them.
“I wasn’t doing this to have anyone else do it. But you never know. For some of these guys it’s not too much to deal with and do something for people who are in a lot of need for help.”
The NFL's bias against Randy Moss continues:
FOXSports.com has learned the league has fined Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss $10,000 for his controversial taunt of the Lambeau crowd this weekend.
The league didn't want to hit Moss with a major fine or suspension out of concern that such a move would simply bring more attention to an ugly incident, one that NFL execs hope just goes away. The NFL has not yet made an announcement and wouldn't confirm the number.
Initially, it was believed the NFL would hit him with a fine in the range of the $5,000 they levied on Broncos QB Jake Plummer for flipping off the Denver crowd. Plummer's violation, however, did not take place during a nationally televised playoff game.

You have a point there. However, Moss is not a first time offender, so I'm guessing that's why the fine was higher. I dunno. 10K seems a bit much to me.
Sid Hartman: Moss' good deeds kept from spotlight:
All of the negative publicity that Randy Moss has received from the media brought a response Wednesday from a representative of St. Joseph's Home for Children, a Minneapolis charity to which Moss has been a great benefactor.
The letter was delivered to the Vikings with the request that it been given to Moss. The rules of St. Joe's prevent the writer from being identified.
It was titled "That Is Who You Are," and read:
"Lately you have been analyzed, criticized and demonized by people who haven't got a clue about the real you. I do not understand it.
"With people dying daily in Iraq and whole families lost due to the recent tsunami, there are more important things to talk about than two seconds at the end of a football game or some harmless fun in the end zone.
"Sport analysts and your critics need to get a grip and lose their sense of righteous indignation. Many of them do not speak from perfection, balance or fairness. They should be thanking you for giving them the gift of something to talk about. And while talking about and writing about you makes for great radio, great television ratings and newspaper profit, trashing you doesn't feed a homeless family or comfort a frightened child.
"You know how to do this. You are making a positive difference in the lives of others. You do not take credit or publicize your charitable efforts. Never forget, Randy, that your private kindness to others is the measure of who you really are. Always remember your family, team, those you care about, your own personal belief in you, and in a higher power, are the elements of life that are the most important.
"I hope that you will continue to stay true to you and you will keep on 'keeping it real.'
"Continue to love the game and your team. Play with passion. Pound the Eagles and please know that there are thousands of us who support you."
This was very well said. I know the real Randy Moss better than anybody in the media. He does talk to me. I know all of the good things he has done.
Yes, walking off the field with two seconds to play was wrong. He admits that.
But as for mooning the Packers fans after scoring the touchdown that won the game, I agree with Colts coach Tony Dungy, who knows more about what Moss and Vikings players have taken from the Packers fans than any of the media who have written about the mooning.
Mistakes? Yes, Randy Moss has made some. But there is a real good side to this young man that is never brought out.

He did say that walking off the field was wrong, but he also said that he didn't care what his own teammate Matt Birk had to say to him. It's always a two way street with Randy. He's such a good guy when it comes to charities and shit, but in the clubhouse and on the field he can be a dick. I don't have any sympathy for this guy, but I do think that sometimes he gets criticized unfairly.
Best article about Brett Favre I've ever read:
Brett Favre isn't just a future NFL Hall of Famer. The Green Bay Packers quarterback is also a regular dude. Just ask anybody who writes about Favre or talks about him on television. The Packers play Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs late on Sunday afternoon, a time slot that promises plenty of shots of Favre heroically framed in the rural Wisconsin gloaming while worshipful announcers compose loving odes to his talents as a player, husband, father, and man. It's enough to make you want to root for Randy Moss.
As the disconnect between multimillionaire athletes and ticket-buying fans widens, few players have retained the "jes' folks" status of the Packers star QB. Only a few football players—almost all of them white quarterbacks, from Bobby Layne to Kenny Stabler to Terry Bradshaw—are granted special friend and neighbor status. These are the guys whom you could just as easily envision working at the mill and chopping wood on the front stoop as hurling touchdown passes on Monday Night Football.
Because he's just a regular dude, Favre is one of us even when he screws up. Favre received almost no criticism last January when his boneheaded overtime heave cost the Packers last year's divisional playoff against Philadelphia. In this year's rematch, the Eagles demolished the Pack by 30 points, in no small part due to Favre's poor play. After the game, ESPN.com's Michael Smith wrote that the "impossible happened Sunday. My opinion of Favre grew." What towering feat did Favre accomplish? He showed his disdain for personal statistics by pulling himself out of the game when the Pack were losing 47-3 even though his 36-game touchdown streak was at stake. Keep in mind, this is the same guy who went into the fetal position to allow Michael Strahan to break the single-season sack record.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King is probably the quarterback's most eager lap dog and the writer most responsible for celebrating Favre's rural lifestyle. "On the morning he had to leave his beloved home and 465 acres in Hattiesburg, Miss., to report to training camp, he began to think this might be his last camp," King wrote in January 2003. "A private plane stood by at a nearby airstrip for the two-and-half-hour flight to Green Bay. … And there he was, sweating a stream while edging a mile of his property where it meets the road, refusing to leave till he finished the job." In short, Favre is the guy next door—I bet that private jet is up on blocks in his front yard.
To King's credit, he's conscious of his reputation as Favre's Boswell. "Oh no! King on Favre again!" he wrote in the same article. "King's all over this guy! Please, just one column without mentioning Favre's name! And we beg you: Don't tell us what entree you had with him! Sickening!" (The italics are not mine.) That self-awareness didn't stop King from contributing a chapter to Favre, the just-released memoir that No. 4 co-wrote with his mother, Bonita. As Favre's tome shot to the top of the bestseller lists, Terrell Owens' autobiography, Catch This!, failed to find an audience.
Favre and Owens make for an intriguing contrast. If you've watched even a single Green Bay game in the last few seasons, you've heard the misfortune that has befallen the quarterback recently: the death of his father, the death of his brother-in-law, his wife's cancer diagnosis. This year's Monday Night Football opener featured a halftime retrospective on Favre's relationship with his father, complete with home movies showing a mop-topped Brett in shoulder pads and Irvin Favre looking on approvingly from his easy chair. Another Monday night game earlier this year that unfortunately coincided with his wife's battle with cancer occasioned a sit-down with ESPN's Suzy Kolber that included such hard-hitting queries as "Where would you be without her?" and "How would you compare your toughness to your wife Deanna's toughness?"
While Favre is lionized for playing through tragedy, Terrell Owens' success has never been given the same kind of context. As Catch This! reveals, the fact that T.O. made it to the NFL is a miracle. Owens, who grew up destitute and fatherless in backwater Alabama, wasn't allowed to leave his front yard as a child for fear of getting whipped. Favre grew up in small town bliss surrounded by his loving family. Not to demean the loss of loved ones, but who has overcome more here? Why is every hurdle Favre has jumped over presented as the Pillars of Hercules, while a guy like Owens is dismissed as a loudmouth?
No one doubts Favre's Hall of Fame credentials—three MVP awards, a Super Bowl ring, 200-plus consecutive starts, and an ability to laser the ball between defenders even at age 35. On the other hand, it's fairly obvious that Favre has been propped up these past few years by his All-Pro running back, Ahman Green. Here's a guy who plays hurt and plays well, hails from a red state, and is by all accounts a solid citizen who runs youth football camps in his hometown. Yet Ahman only gets props for his yards—I have no clue what tragedies he's had to overcome. I guess he's just not a regular dude.

Pretty scary isn't it? I wish he would just go back to the old buzz cut he had his rookie year.
Okay let's all blame Brett Favre for his image. Let's blame him for T.O.'s childhood, and Moss' "FTW" attitude. After all, he's got the announcers and the reporters on his payroll. While we're at it, let's blame him for not calling Garcia a fag, for not refusing to play in Green Bay after his agent screws up on a contract deadline, and for basically not doing anything ridiculous other than throwing a bad pass here and there, and admiting he's had a problem with pills and booze.
I really don't see the point, here guys. Equating one player's non-play-related antics to another player's media-darling status means what exactly?
If Moss didn't act like a jerk, his off-field good deeds would be the only story, that and his obvious talent. Like I said before, it's a shame that's not what he's known for, but is that Brett's fault?
And in reading that article, I find it slightly amusing that the writer points out how T. O. would get a spanking if he left the yard, yet Brett grew up in bliss? How does he know that? That's just a stupid way of making a non-point.
Heck, I got spanked for leaving the yard when I was a kid. But if I go on national television and yell at everyone to go fuck themselves, is that Sucka's fault for being a good mod?
I just don't get it. Maybe that's my fault.

Great points Red, I hear what you're sayin dude. The Owens/Favre references didn't need to be in there, but I guess he wanted to get his point across. I see it like this. Every year for the last four years I have watched the Packers a ton of times on national tv. I have to be subjected to Theisman, Michaels, Madden, Bradshaw, and a slew of others hold Brett Favre on a higher pedastal than the top QBs in the NFL. They tell me that if there was anybody they wanted to lead their team it would be Favre, when I look at the stats and see the likes of Manning, McNabb, Culpepper and Bulger up at the top. These are guys that are not only great QB's, but are superior leaders in their sport. Culpepper gets criticized for fumbling, McNabb for his accuracy issues, Vick for not actually being a QB, Bulger for taking too many hits, and Manning for not winning a ring yet. But when Favre throws up an interception, or two, three, four, five or even SIX, it's ok.
I'm not blaming Favre for all the media hype surrounding him, I'm just tired of it. Hell, he'd probably like for them to quit that shit too. Which NFL QB would I like to kick back, shoot the shit, and have a beer with? Probably Brett Favre when it comes right down to it.
Agreed, he's been declining for awhile now. And I think he'll retire. I hope the Packers are getting ready for life without him.
The media absolutely goes too far when it comes to kissing his ass.
Maybe the media is going too far in criticizing Moss. I'm aware of his good deeds. Like I said, ESPN the Mag did a story that went into detail on this, probably three months ago or so.
I just don't think his image is anyone's fault but his, and trying to put the blame on Joe Buck or anyone else is just weird to me.
Viking, I want to ask you something, sincerely. Not trying to start shit with you at all, I know you're a Viking fan and that's cool. But you posted a piece a few days ago on Bud Grant. I've been wondering.....how would Bud Grant deal with a player like Moss?
You know, Moss might get unfairly criticized sometimes, but he made his bed a long time ago, and now he's going to have to sleep in it.

Atlanta over St.Louis - Not a big Atlanta/Vick fan but Martz is a horrible coach
Minnesota over Philly - I hate how Philly packed it in the last month of the season, plus Culpepper may be the most underrated player in the league
Steelers over the Jets - Steelers remind me of the Pats Super Bowl teams, very well balanced team
Pats over Indy - As a Patriots season ticket holder I can honestly say this game scares the hell out of me. Obviously, I have some major concerns over the Pats secondary - Richard Seymour (Questionable) has to play to get pressure up front on Manning (since they can't afford to blitz). Rumor has it that Belichick spent the bye week studying every game Manning's played over the past two years looking for tendencies. I think where this game is won is the Pats offense against the Colts D. The Pats offense must be sick of hearing about how great the Colts/Manning are and will light them up. My money in the playoffs is always on Belichick and Brady.

I'm responding to this because I believe it is aimed at me...if I'm mistaken, fine.
I understand and easily grasp the tools of motivation on a banged up team, as I am not naive nor do I feel it neccesary to be told to follow another sport, which I find insulting to say the least.
I restate my point: these comments are from a kicker...yes the same "liquored-up kicker" ( to use Peyton Manning's words).
It falls to credibility on Vandy's part, of which by appearances sake, he is empty.
Locker room fodder, or focus at this point in a season, with everything on the line should already freely exist. This belief is NOT naive.
We are talking professional sportsmen here.
I agree, you are correct in stating that Belechick could/would/should devise a form of motivation for his team, yet leaving it to hinge on comments (that at one point, where quite on the mark) made by a fellow whom does not even get his uniform dirty shows illogical thinking in my frame of reference.
And that certainly is not an instance of me being naive, nor needing to start watching bowling.

I just don't get it. Maybe that's my fault. No!!!!! It is all my fault...man, I am a Packer fan...it is my fault that Moss is an ass while he is a football player, it is my fault that Owens celebrates his way in the end zone, it is my fault that Favre doesn't get the media attention that he deserves....Favre needs to be seen as a throat slashing, walk off the field, disrespecting the Cowboys star asshole on beer and pain killers only because his Dad died, his brother in-law died and his wife has breast cancer all within a year. Moss gives to children what Owens did not have and Favre is a gem: it is my fault guys!....bla, bla fucking blaaaaaaaa

I think Bud Grant would have handled Moss the way that I hoped that Tice was going to. I really thought that Tice was going to crack the whip when it came to Moss, but he has disappointed me in that aspect. I don't think Grant would have put up with his shit, but I don't think Moss would have tried to pull as much shit with Grant as he does or has done with Green and Tice.

Um, you and another, can't remember who and I'm too lazy to look. But NOT aimed at you "personally" if you catch that. The tone and tenor that I took that I responded to was that it was silly to think that the comments would be or should be used to fire up a pro team. I think that thought process is ridiculous. Hell, NFL coaches will use a team waterboy's comments if one is stupid enough to spout off (no pun intended). ANY sign of disrespect, real or imagined, gets used in NFL locker rooms. While the Pats have properly downplayed the whole thing publicly, and frankly are probably less susceptible to that type of motivational tool since Belichick tends to be more fact/teach oriented, it will still get use to fire up individual players behind the scenes, as it should be.
Another example - Vijay's caddie showing up with a Tiger Who? cap when Tiger was at the top of his game - you REALLY think something like that should fire up Tiger? Yet Tiger absolutely used it for motivation. Whatever it takes to ratchet it up a notch.
Nothing personal craig, I just strongly disagreed with what I interpreted from your post.
And what's wrong with bowling? :D :thumb:
This is the playoffs. If you have room for any extra motivation, you're going to lose.

ESPN.com news services
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Randy Moss trudged out to his truck in the subzero cold, with a huge, black hooded sweat shirt covering almost his entire face. All that was showing was a carefree smile.
In his usual flippant manner, Moss showed no remorse for his latest misdeed.
“ Ain't nothing but 10 grand. What's 10 grand, to me? ”
— Randy Moss
Minnesota's controversial wide receiver was fined $10,000 Thursday by the NFL for pretending to pull down his pants and moon the Green Bay crowd during a playoff win last weekend.
"Ain't nothing but 10 grand. What's 10 grand, to me?" said Moss, whose salary this season is $5.75 million. He then jokingly suggested he might perform a more vulgar celebration next time.
KARE-TV of Minneapolis recorded the exchange between Moss and reporters outside the Vikings' practice facility.
Reporter: "Write the check yet, Randy?"
Moss: "When you're rich you don't write checks."
Reporter: "If you don't write checks, how do you pay these guys?"
Moss: "Straight cash, homey."
Reporter: "Randy, are you upset about the fine?"
Moss: "No, cause it ain't [expletive]. Ain't nothing but 10 grand. What's 10 grand to me? Ain't [expletive] … Next time I might shake my [expletive]."
Peter Hadhazy, the league's director of game operations, penalized Moss for unsportsmanlike conduct for the end-zone antics in a letter released by the NFL.
"Your actions were based on poor judgment, did not reflect well on you or the Vikings, and were insulting to many," Hadhazy wrote. "They have resulted in widespread criticism and needlessly detracted from Minnesota's dramatic playoff victory. Fans should look to you and your teammates to see how to compete and win in football. But when you lose your focus on playing and engage in sideshows as you did on Sunday, you forfeit much of this."
Moss also briefly bumped the goalpost with his backside before hugging teammates in the end zone following a fourth-quarter touchdown catch that clinched the Vikings' 31-17 victory over the Packers.
League rules mandate discipline for "obscene gestures or other actions construed as being in poor taste." A fine for the first offense under those guidelines is $5,000.
The NFL said Moss was fined more than the minimum because this isn't the first time he has been disciplined for unsportsmanlike conduct. He paid a $25,000 penalty in 1999 for squirting an official with a water bottle.
Moss wasn't the only player fined Thursday. The NFL also fined New York Jets linebacker Eric Barton $7,500 for hitting San Diego quarterback Drew Brees in the head during last weekend's playoff game.
Moss, whose 9,142 career yards receiving are the most ever by any player over his first seven seasons, has drawn more than his share of punishments and negative publicity.
Randy Moss
Moss' agent defended the celebration, claiming it's been "blown out of proportion."
The league fined him $5,000 for his role in a scuffle with the Chicago Bears during a September game, and he was charged the same amount in November 2003 for spiking a ball at the foot of Detroit Lions cornerback Dre' Bly.
In December 2002, he was fined $1,200 by a judge after being charged with bumping a traffic control officer with his car in downtown Minneapolis.
For verbally abusing corporate sponsors on the team bus following a loss in November 2001, Moss was fined $15,000 by the Vikings and required to receive anger management counseling.
And just last week, he was rebuked by teammates for leaving the field before the end of a loss to the Washington Redskins.
Moss' agent, Dante DiTrapano, said the fine was unnecessary and that he plans to appeal.
"If you can't have freedom of expression on the football field, come on," DiTrapano said.
DiTrapano argued that there was a story behind the dance Moss did in the end zone. The pantomimed pants-pulling was a response to Green Bay fans' tradition of mooning the visiting team's bus in the parking lot. And the rump bump against the goalpost, DiTrapano said, was a tribute to an old friend of Moss' who was at Lambeau Field for the game. Donnie Jones, who played at Dupont High School in West Virginia a few years before Moss did, used to celebrate like that after touchdowns.
"Like everything else, I think it's blown out of proportion," DiTrapano said. "It's not fair, but we're used to it. It just rolls right off of us."
Last month, Denver quarterback Jake Plummer was fined $5,000 for an obscene gesture.
Moss, who had four receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's game, didn't practice with the Vikings on Wednesday because of a sprained right ankle but is listed as probable for Sunday's playoff game at Philadelphia.
I've tried to see things Randy's way, but after his comments yesterday after practice, I just can't do it anymore. He's an immature prick that just doesn't get it, and I don't care how many charities he's apart of. He's a dick, end of story.

Yeah, and I think Terrell Owens is a prick, so I guess we're even.
Even how? It's not like Owens is a family member of mine or anything. I could care less how you, or anyone feels about Owens. The fact of it is that Terrell goes over the middle, he blocks his ass off, and despite what Randy thinks, Owens, Holt, Harrison and now Wayne all see the coverages that he does. And despite Terrell's over the top celebrations, he's never "mooned" anybody, or say that he'd shake his dick next time. I'm sorry but that's just not cool.
Yeah, Randy can be a fuckhead, but I'll take him over that list of receivers that you listed any day. I guess there's no reason to get uptight about it, defending two players to the death that we don't even know. Like you said, it's not like they're family members or anything. Jeez, we can get stupid over football can't we? :D Don't you just love this game?

LOL it's football time man, it's tense. Especially for you knowing that your squad is going down sunday at 1pm EST. :)
I don't think so! Shit, I just realized what time it is. I better get my ass ready for work! Do you think they would accept the excuse that I was talking football for being late? I don't think so! We'll get down to the smash mouth football talk later. :D
A little more on the Moss "Fake Moon" incident:
Conspicuously absent from the absurd hysteria surrounding Randy Moss' pantomime moon job in Green Bay on Sunday is a story not accompanied by video. It is a story deserving of the label Joe Buck attached to the Vikings wideout's tush antics: disgusting.
Ironically, this story was reported by Buck's partner, Cris Collinsworth, Wednesday night on HBO's "Inside the NFL." As his colleagues - Bob Costas, Dan Marino and Cris Carter - discussed the Moss affair, Collinsworth shined a light on something more serious and despicable than Moss' end zone "celebration."
Collinsworth, who worked Sunday's Vikings-Packers playoff game with Buck and Troy Aikman on Fox, said he was standing on the field before the game.
"Randy Moss comes out (on the field) and his hair - they (some Vikings players) blew out their Afros - and there were some racial comments (from fans directed at Moss) along the lines of '(Hey) Buckwheat' and other things," Collinsworth said. "It was pretty crude going both ways."
Moss' ultimate response to the racial slurs was to let his booty do the talking. While the moon was offensive to some (not me), including Buck (now it comes out that what really steamed him was Moss rubbing his butt against the goal post), Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw and James Brown, it is not in the same league as fans spewing racist hate in Moss' direction.
Those running the National Football League tacitly condone this abhorrent behavior. They encourage - and many of their sponsors glorify - "tailgating." This is when fans sit in the parking lot of a stadium and get so twisted on booze they become emboldened to say whatever comes to what's left of their minds.
The combination of liquor consumption, the violent ambiance of an NFL arena, and, sometimes, their own prejudices produces a cauldron of sleaze - the kind of stuff the NFL uses its United Way commercials to hide behind.
"Classless, ignorant and embarrassing," is how Fox's James Brown characterized Moss "celebration" in Green Bay. Wonder how Brown, who earlier that day said he didn't "get upset at Randy Moss anymore," would characterize the racist bile Packer fans hurled in Moss' direction?
Collinsworth, during Fox's Vikings-Packers telecast, never raised the issue of the fans taunting Moss. Too bad. If he did, maybe Buck could have put Moss' moon job in its proper context and perspective. And maybe the panel in Fox's studio would have spared us all their sanctimonious drivel concerning Moss' behavior and focused on what instigated all this - the fans' racist epithets.
Instead, all this degenerated into Viking owner Billy Joe (Red) McCombs basically making Buck into a hero. By demanding Buck be taken off Sunday's Vikings-Eagles divisional playoff game, McCombs turned Fox suits into pillars of journalistic integrity. The Foxies, while praising Buck all the way to the moon, basically told McCombs, a car dealer by trade, to stick it.
Perhaps Fox honchos, and their NFL studio cast, can show legitimate, righteous integrity this weekend by revisiting this Moss episode and reporting on the Green Bay fans' racist taunts. This, of course, would not please their TV partners at league headquarters. Obviously, fans calling Moss "Buckwheat" or using the N-word does not concern or bother Paul Tagliabue and his lackeys.
Why else would Moss be fined $10,000 for daring to taunt the pigs who started things in the first place? Maybe Bradshaw, Brown or Long can explain why Moss gets fined $10,000 and Jets linebacker Eric Barton gets a slap-on-the-wrist $7,500 fine for trying to take Drew Brees' head off Saturday night.
This is justice?
So, don't hold your breath waiting for Fox to touch this story or offer some balance by reporting what Collinsworth revealed on the HBO show.
The Fox voices, and the suits at Fox Sports - like their TV partners at the NFL - want this story to go away. Not only will it get in the way of their precious playoffs, they all know Randy Moss is perceived as Public Enemy No.1 in the league. They know no one cares whether he gets fair treatment.
Moss provides the NFL with a convenient scapegoat. Especially for fans with a racist agendas.
Agendas that can be described the same way Brown described Moss.
Classless. Ignorant. Embarrassing.

This was posted on the Viking message board I frequent:
My brother in law (a Packer fanatic) was in a wedding of a coworker. The coworker's father is a season ticket holder at Lambeau and said that the signs and the epithets being directed at Randy Moss were horrible and many of them were overtly racist. I am stunned, frankly. Why did the announcers allow this travesty to go by the wayside while castigating Moss? I would say he controlled himself amazingly well considering the level of abuse that was reported by this diehard Packer fan. He said he was absolutely appalled at the fans.
I now understand why there were so few shots of the crowd and why so few signs were shown. The one shot I recall of the crowd (and my brother-in-law concurs) was from up in the stands looking down toward the field. Apparently so many of the signs were offensive that few shots of the crowd would have been appropriate. Way to go, Fox Sports and the rest of the media. Turn a blind eye to overt racism and focus on a silly prank.
Suddenly, even the comment that Moss made about shaking "himself" seems quite a bit less offensive.
Randy still needs to control himself a little better, although I thought the fake moon wasn't that big of a deal. His comments afterwords about "Shaking his dick" are far more offensive than the fake moon.
I went to the barber shop this afternoon, and the barbers were talking about this Moss thing. I never said a word. The guy cutting my hair said "If it was anybody else, it wouldn't be a big deal."
That's one way of looking at it. My thought was, "If it wasn't a playoff game, and it wasn't a player with Moss' talent, his own team would be making a HUGE deal about it."
There's so many "ifs" involved here. Everybody's right and everybody's wrong.
As for Eric Barton's $7500 and Moss' $10,000 fines.....who has the history? Has Barton been fined before? I don't know...
Nobody wins here. Everybody's pissed one way or the other, and no one wins.
My final thought on the matter....racists suck. Sounds like there was plenty of classlessness to go around that day.

I agree with that. Ike Reese, LB for the Eagles said that the few times he's been to GB, he's had to deal with the fans mooning the Eagles on their way out of the stadium. So he didn't see anything wrong with Moss' mockery, but did say that he would never want to be on the same team with Moss. I think there are alot of players out there that wouldn't want to be either, and the other half would just deal with Randy's antics because he's so great.

Well here are my picks guys:
As much as I'd like to see the Jets pull off the win against the Steelers, Pittsburgh should get by in this one. New York though will keep this one close and if they can maximize the few opportunities they'll get against the Steelers to put the ball in the end zone and avoid the turn overs they might surprise. Final score Pitt 20 Jets 17
Falcons over the Rams-this one could be a shoot out and will probably be another close game. St Louis can put up the points but the o line is a patch job right now and it's going to be difficult for them to contain Vick. Final score Atlanta 31 St Louis 28
The Eagles Vikes is also intriguing with the way the Eagles played down the stretch. This one is a coin flip for me because Minnesota might be the biggest jeckyl and hyde team in the nfl and watching the eagles trying to flip the switch after playing pathetic down the stretch will be interesting. Yeah I know they rested a bunch of guys but with TO out that might have been a bad move. They needed to develop some cosnsistency going into the post season especially on offence and I think that will play into the Vikes hands. If Minnesota gets up earlier like they did last week this one could be lights out fairly early. Final score Vikes 27 Eagles 20.
Last game and the one I'll be sweating over big time is the world champion Patriots up against the Colts. Yeah I'm going to sound like a homer but who cares. Alot of the so called experts think it's the Colts time and that the Patriots are beatable, sounds like a good premise but it plays right into the Patriots hands. The more people that don't expect the team to be succesful the more they rise to the challenge. Yeah the secondary is a bit of a patch job but that didn't stop them from winning 14 games and the reason for that is they're the best prepared and best coached team in the league. Let's not also forget the players on the team that execute the game plan to perfection and that's why they've been the best team in football 2 of the last 3 years. This years team is more explosive on offence then they've been in years past and with a solid group of receivers and one of the best running backs in the league they can counter punch with the Colts and if the game does become a shoot out I think the Patriots can still win. We all know how bad Peyton wants this game but the Colts will also be facing a very motivated Corey Dillon who's been waiting for his 1st post season shot in about 8 years and the could be the x factor in this game. Don't get me wrong I like the Colts, I like Peyton and Tony Dungy class acts all the way but not when they're going up against the Patriots. I'm not going to work on Monday in a shit mood with the Patriots losing this one-no fuckin way. Besides which the Pats owe the Steelers a bit of pay back. The Steel stopped their streak earlier this year and the Pats will return the favour next week. Final score Patriots 38 Colts 34

:D :thumb:
Aww crap...still getting used to this new place, and you guys are keenly aware of the simple fact that I edit like old people fuck...
Thank you, first of all to IED...
For one thing it was pretty damned decent of you to respond and lay out your side .
Honestly, I think we are in agreement on this topic, yet are coming at it from different avenues.
Bowling is terrific, if one is playing...watching it, without the beer and french-fries, I dunno.

Seahawks fired President Bob Whitsit today.
My guess is Holmgren gets another chance.
