Alright, well...
Back on the 2004 tour the Toronto thread was one of the biggest I've ever seen on these boards and it started well in advance of the show. I thought I'd do the same this time and hopefully get some kind of pre-show gathering together with this thread. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the hard rock at skydome before the show in T.O. a few years back, so this time around I say we get some linkers together.
So, I guess we can all utilize this thread to make plans for before the show, talk about who will be doing what, and everything in between. I know I will be online at 10 am sharp on saturday purchasing tickets as I was up north for the VIP sale. I hope to see many of you in Toronto for the return of the greatest rock band in the history of the universe!

Im definitely in bangerang--i was actually thinking of starting this thread after the on sale on saturday but you beat me to it! This thread was the biggest on vhlinks back in 2004 and what made it great was there was no mudslinging---we all got along and came to celebrate the worlds greatest rock band! I am excited as hell about this show but would not drop a dime for 5 star ( i did 2 in 2004---1 in toronto and 1 in hamilton) unless there was a soundcheck. Im gonna do the onsale on saturday but will be aptient--i wont spend the quick $$$ to get decent tix---im holding out for the rerelease of tix if I dont score good seats on saturday--ebay and craigs list are other options and so is the option of waiting a week before showtime after the frenzy has dies---a big bottoms up! to TO VH fans! Cabo Brent, jetguy5150, EvH_316_5150 lets get this party started!!!!

I'm a Burlington guy. And I think the stage is horrible. The least "Van Halen" style stage in history. EVH_316_5150 said it best in another thread when he asked, "What time does Cher hit the stage?" In hindsight I think this stage will really take the focus off of Mike not being there. Can you imagine Wolfgang having to stand on the Mike's side on the 1984 stage? He would have no chance of filling that space.

I will let someone else make those decisions and organize this since I am still on the fence as to whether I am going to go or not....but....in 2004 we picked it because it is a very short walk to the ACC and more importantly we had a lot of out of town visitors joining us who don't really know the city very well. How can you not find a place that's directions are: HRC in the Skydome which is at the bottom of the CN Tower? :D Let's just say everyone found it with no problem. Once you start sending people to the bars on Front St. you are pretty much taking a gamble that people will find the place.
Whether I go to the concert or not, I will still be meeting up with everyone before hand. That's just the kind of guy I am. :thumb:

Which also means we will not be working on Monday!!!! :D Van Halen always seems to time these Toronto shows perfectly!!!! The long weekend in 2004 was amazing timing. :thumb: This is pretty good too!!!

Trust me...money is not the issue here. And I will probably end up in a nose bleed seat. I just have no excitement whatsoever for this tour. Can't explain it at all....just no excitement. As for never seeing a DLR fronted VH show again...let me tell you a little story.... Dated a girl in late highschool and she was smokin' hot. This chick couldn't get enough sex and I dated her for 11 months. It was amazing. A month or two ago she found me on Facebook and I agreed to meet her for a drink. I showed up at the bar, scanned the room and didn't see her. Then this hideous beast starts flagging me down and it was her!!! :eek: She was using her old photos on Facebook. Moral of the story... somethings may be better off left to memory. :D
As said....I will grab a nose bleed seat just to be safe. Doesn't mean I will go though. But beer with you whackos will be worth the drive anyway. Who's buying????

I mean, after all, he was mentioned in the review so the least I could do is get the copy of the newspaper to him from July of 2004...... my friend will try to buy ticket by phone saturday a t 10:00.
we can t go to office because we live near montreal.
(there s no place to buy ticket from ticketmaster in prov of quebec).
i hope we have ticket.

I think I'm gonna just try and get SOLID regular seats this time, cause in 2004 I was on the floor for the first show I went to in row 21 and I couldn't see a damn thing, and theres no way I'm getting a good seat on the floor with half of them promised to the 4 and 5 stars.

I actually got the seating chart for VAN HALEN last night and left it on my screen just in case, its a concert west end stage and the only difference I see on it is that instead of labelling the floor sections LFLR/RFLR it just says RESERVED FLOOR across the whole thing. Exact same setup though.

Managed to get something online in the first few minutes. 2 tickets in Section 308 in the rafters. But a minute later they were saying nothing. I don't know if I was lucky or maybe better will show up after the chaos subsides.
Ticketbitch caught me by surprise though - I was hitting the site because it was 10 (11 mytime) but it was still saying it hadn't started yet. When it did start, they booted me with a "too many requests from your IP message, try again in a few minutes" - dirty. Lucky I was at work and ran to the guy next to me and used his PC to get through. When I came back to mine and was able to get past the block, no dice. Couldn't even get a single at any price. I've seen that before for other concerts though - after the dust settles and they figure out what they sold and what they didn't, some tickets show up.
Either way, I'm in. Now to try to trade up.

I was online at 10am sharp and scored two tickets in 118. No chance I was going to look for something better. After placing the order I tried searching again and only single tickets left. Virtual sell out at this point and a second concert is almost guaranteed. I missed out on the 2004 get together because I was late getting into TO but I plan on seeing all of you this time around.

Got on right away but only got section 322 (right above 120), row 4 , 119-121. I was hoping for lower bowl but I did not want to risk coming out empty handed. Last time I believe I got nothing when the tickets first went on sale and then bought lower bowl (section 120) about two weeks before the show. This show has much less lead time and with Dave back in the fold I think the tickets sold much faster. See the other post claiming tickets sold out in 10 seconds!

Should I just try ticketmaster when they go on sale or do you local guys have an better ideas?

:funny: Sorry...not making fun of you...it's just that Leaf's tickets are near impossible to get on a good day and Montreal is THE premium ticket in Toronto. Snoop around but the likelihood of Ticketmaster having anything is slim to none and slim just left town. Scalpers is probably the only option.

I got section 321 mitch92. I was hoping for 118 but I didn't think I'd be lucky enough to get those. I've never been the ACC what do you think the view will be like from 321?
There are no bad seats at the ACC. As long as you don't suffer from vertigo 321 should be fine. What row did you get? It is pretty steep in the upper level so that will make a difference. You will be able to see fine. It is a beautiful facility. I took my daughter and her friend to Avril Lavigne a couple years back in section 306 and the seats were fine. The stage seems small and far away but the sound was great and 321 is much closer (mid rink).

Still working on it. I only need a single so I am not too worried. Even if I have to go to a scalper on the day of the show. I also have some other options that I am working on. I will keep you posted if I get anything.

I wonder how our friend Evh_316_5150 made out today. Rough deal having to work. Hopefully someone took care of him.
So...These venue maps are a bit annoying. I ended up buying a single in section 120 but I avoided it for the longest time since it said seat 4 and I assumed it was at the end of the section away from the stage. So I looked high and low for a freakin' map that showed the starting and ending seat numbers for each row but couldn't find anything. Finally after being on hold with Ticketmaster for 20 minutes I was able to determine that it was in fact closer to section 119 and thus the stage so I caved and scooped it up. Damn I hate peer pressure!!!! You bastards owe me a beer at the Hard Rock.
So let's start the Hard Rock Roll Call.... Just like 2004 we will start a list and keep adding to it.

I had to work this morning, but had someone buy a ticket for me. She claimed she couldn't get floor, so she bought Section 120, Row 16, Seat 22. When I came home, I tried and got LFLR, Row 30, Seat 6. These were both for the Sunday, October 7th show. The question is, which ticket do I sell and which do I keep? I'm short, so Row 30 on the floor might suck, but I decided to think about it since only five people will be to the right of me. Does anyone know how many rows there are per floor section? If there's a gap in front of me, I'll take the floor, but if there are 29 rows in front of me, I may opt for Section 120. What do you all think? Oh, and count me in for the get-together, JetGuy!

Sell the floors...you could get some good change for the floor seats no matter where they are. Thats what I would do.

When I was searching for my single seat I had a choice between Floor 30 and Section 120 Row 17. I am telling you man...you don't want to be 30 rows back on the floor. Not only is it a low angle, the sound board will have some form of an annoyance factor. 16 Rows back in 120 will be a great seat. Not only that you will have that really cool jetguy5150 in the row behind you, 18 seats away. :D

Hi sevy. Too bad you can't join us on the Sunday but I am sure someone will put together some form of get together before the Friday show. The Hard Rock at the Skydome is about a 5 minute walk from the ACC.
If they add a Montreal date are you going to try to go to that as well?

Back on the 2004 tour the Toronto thread was one of the biggest I've ever seen on these boards and it started well in advance of the show. I thought I'd do the same this time and hopefully get some kind of pre-show gathering together with this thread. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the hard rock at skydome before the show in T.O. a few years back, so this time around I say we get some linkers together.
So, I guess we can all utilize this thread to make plans for before the show, talk about who will be doing what, and everything in between. I know I will be online at 10 am sharp on saturday purchasing tickets as I was up north for the VIP sale. I hope to see many of you in Toronto for the return of the greatest rock band in the history of the universe!

Hey CL.... I think the logic still holds from back in 2004 when we chose that location. I would say that out of the 30 to 40 people that ended up stopping by for either the whole afternoon or for a quick drink and to meet some people, at least half were from the U.S. or a good distance out of town (Quebec, SWO etc.) I am sure we could find a better bar to meet at but half the people wouldn't find it. You can't give much easier directions than "in the Skdydome, immediately below the CN Tower." It was also great because they gave us our own section and let us put on a mixed VH cd that we made. Soooo....I do agree that there are better bars but there are enough good reasons to keep it at the HRC. And evh_316_5150_hasahotmom gets very sentimental about these traditions. :D We hope you can join us. :thumb:

Yeah, it's just a few minutes away ;) I'll be there. As it is, I just checked the airfare and the cheapest ticket I could find was 750 dollars!!! For a trip that takes an hour and a half!!! Renting a car is a good possibility :)

In 2004 we started arriving around noon since there were a number of us that had to leave at 4pm for the 5* festivities. I would think that since it is a Sunday we will probably start arriving between noon and 1pm. This time I am going to pace myself a little better. :D 11 beer between 12:30pm and 4pm was a little bit....:drunk:
So are you officially adding your name to the list of attendees??? Don't worry, if you don't make it again we won't hunt you down and shoot you. Although a second offense may require some deliberation amongst the group. :D

Not far from downtown, rock and roll pub open late and it gets pretty wild. From what I remember the bar is decorated with bras and panties donated by female patrons. Good stuff!

I would bet my house, truck etc. on the answer being NO. These guys haven't done anything like that in years. In 2004 they almost missed soundcheck because their flight was late. Not a lot of promotion at all.

ya...now with VH in town twice that week...think football will have to wait..the Bills will always be around...my cash is now directed at Toronto show #1 & #2...ps...plus i'll be having family thanksgiving dinner on Monday since they've kindly agreed to switch it to Monday so i can go to the VH show on Sunday...what a great family i have...did you get tix to either show?

it was indeed me...Sammy signed my Ontario 'CABOWABO' personalized license plate at the Hamilton show and then showed it to the crowd before posing for a pic holding it...was a good night...

Very true. A lot of us have some great history together from the 2004 tour so we are picking up where we left off. I am really looking forward to the real reunion this tour which is seeing everyone at the Hard Rock before the show.:thumb:

I went to both nights at the MA in '95...i think Sam said they set back to back records each night for most people in the venue for a show...it was jammed in there!

Was hoping to get tickets when they went on sale on Saturday but stupid Air Canada cancelled my flight Friday night (only after they had everyone sit in the plane for 3 hours with delay after delay). Then had to go to Buffalo to catch a JetBlue flight from Buffalo to NYC on Saturday afternoon (Air Canada supposedly had nothing to NYC on Saturday).
Gonna have to do the scalper route for anything decent for night 1 or night 2. Might be going solo since the wife likely doesn't want to go (although she went in 2004).

Check out the ticket thread and some of the posts in this thread. There are a lot of people that bought multiple tickets to hedge their bets. If you are indeed going single then check Ticketmaster since there are still singles for both shows...some of them not too bad. And then get your name on the list for one of the Hard Rock gatherings. :thumb:

I don't think that is completely to scale. Typically the stage is right beside section 118. If it was that far back then they would probably be selling at least part of 117. Anyone got any tickets in 117? They do usually leave some room at the end of the floor but not as much as that chart shows. I would imagine you can just move that whole floor section down in the overall diagram. Of course I am notorious for being wrong. :D

I first saw VH on the 1984 tour in Toronto,I remember some weird band opened called vox or something like that and when Vh hit the stage they opened with Unchained.I never had tickets for the show and was bummed out and the owner of the House of Lords (Paul) took me to the show and backstage (never saw the band) but saw a wall of cases of Jack Daniels ..and I ended up 1st row floors with no ticket with my girlfriend at the time...What a night,can't beleive it was 23 years ago.....

hahaha...I remember meeting up with you guys in '04. This time, I won't be wearing my VH3 shirt :)...but I would like to wear a "Where's Mike?" shirt if someone makes one. I have an issue with tickets, though. I work Saturday morning and can't get out of it. Also, I have nobody to go with. Anyone want to purchase an extra ticket and I can reimburse you? My first VH show was in Toronto on the 1984 tour. My parents wouldn't let me go (I was 10 at the time). I dropped more than few hints to my '' cool " uncle about my eagerness to go in the weeks leading up to the show. As the show quickly approached, I figured I was out of luck. Show night, he shows up and says he's taking me to a movie, my parents didn't mind at all apparently. Instead of going to a movie, we head downtown to the show. It only dawned on me as we were outside MLG that we weren't going to a movie. We snagged tickets off a scalper and saw the show. Music wise, I only knew the 1984 tunes (since I only had the 1984 album) but immensely enjoyed the show and since then I've been hooked...

Ok...so I came into a bit of a windfall last night. Nothing spectacular but enough to throw some money around on some things...new DVR, doing some custom framing....and I think a single ticket for the Friday show. So....

My first Van Halen show was the Toronto show for the 2004 tour which i really enjoyed never had the chance to see them before well because i am only 20 now and 17 in 2004, but this should be fun cause it is the first concert i am going to where i can drink legally plus ill be staying in Toronto for the weekend of the 12th because my sis lives up there. This is going to be a far better concert for me personally than the 2004 concert.

Sorry I missed this when you first posted....of course I remember tora! tora! We all had a great time at the Pearl Street Grill. I even remember NOaverageJO snubbing us all as he went and had dinner with the guys he sold his tickets to. Nice...reeeeeal nice!!!! :D

I despise Gary Bettman with every ounce of my living self. He has ruined the once great CANADIAN game known as hockey and Americanized it to make it more viewable to those first time viewers and people who don't follow the game. Next changes to come are bigger red/blue lines and larger nets... if this happens... I refuse to watch NHL hockey. Please tell me how we have this moronic American money-hound running our game.

So are you flying solo to the Sunday or the Friday? I am guessing Sunday. It that is the case you should consider making part of the drive on Saturday night and hanging out at my place. We can drink 1 or 2 beer and you can teach me some things on the geeeetar! :thumb: I am picking up evh_316_5150_hopeheshowers on the way to the Hard Rock on Sunday. Just a suggestion. Consider the offer made. :thumb:
