Man, cool that it's on a Saturday night...but it sucks for me that it's the same day as the Civil War football game in Eugene, which starts at 1:30.

Gonna be a quick change of attire and fast road trip...

ChargerDave,

Good to see your name on here again. Anytime I see Eugene, OR on here it brings back good memories. I'm going to fly to Charlotte to see the first show, (as long as we get tickets Saturday morning), I'll see them here in St. Louis, and then at least road trip it to Kansas City, if not more. Look forward to your reviews.

Rock on.

Man I love Van Halen. I have been the huge fan for years. I have been there for every period of their history. I have scalped traveled you name it to see them. With this up coming tour I am little bit irritated. As a diehard fan, I would love to be in the ring, but that section is for rich rock fans only. the band is really taking advantage of their fans. We have stuck with this band through many ups and downs and this is the thanks we get. Some of the newer on sale shows 5 star have been $1000/$500 for 4 star. I did the 5 star last time and in all honesty felt ripped. My show got down grated to a GA 5 star section that they actually sold day of show tickets for $99 to fill it up. The only thing I felt was worth it was seeing the original lineup in soundcheck playing all the old stuff like it used to be. $1000 bucks come one....If you spend a little more you can buy a nice Wolgang, Ernie Ball possibly and something 5150 related. that is alot of money. The sad thing is that 5 star Portland is already gone. they can jack the prices as high as they want with people paying the prices. Stop the greed and with that BRING MIKE BACK.

Can you imagine how much the merchandise will be?????!!!!!!!!!!!!
To get the best tickets and merchandise at the 2007 show you need to take a second on your house.

I honestly am totally lost with tickets and a little pissed off about it. ILAA had it up for WEEKS that they would go on sale on Friday, 9/21. I looked the day before yesterday and it still said the same thing. I look today and it says they went on sale yesterday. :wtf: 4 and 5 stars are sold out. It now says you can get tickets at rosequarter.com. rosequarter.com says they are available on 9/22. :wtf:

Lame.

I've obviously decided to go. I can't miss this.

Nope, When Global Spectrum took over the Rose Garden from Paul "Asshole" Allen They kicked Ticketmaster out. LOL sure took that monopoly away from him, before he would rape you everywhere you turned he owned the Rose Garden, Ticketmaster and the Blazers.

I just got absolute garbage for this show. I tried to get 4 tickets and all it brought up was the very back. Then after release-and-retry it all disappeared and I settled for 2 tickets at the very top. Heck, I spent less for 6th row at RUSH this summer.

WTF? In the past I was always able to get VH tickets right up front and close. For this it's just crap!

09.22.07, 09:39 AM
Ditto dude. I'm fuckin pissed off. I'm in 320. Thing is, I was on right at 10 and had 120 at least. They were locked but the site slowed down and they auto-released before I could settle. :irked:

Fuck! I tried to tell myself I wouldn't get into a rant about being a bigger VH fan than 95% of the people with better seats than me...but this whole thing just sucks. Like all those people are into VH more than us? Yeah right...Every other variation including solo shows I've scored tix right up close. What, were people not interested then? Now somehow everyone is on the bandwagon or something.

I just got mine. Music Millenium Ticket west. They are sec 331. Four tickets. It's way up there but at least strait on. The dipshit that sold me them thought they were behind the stage after I got them. I was scared till I researched online they are dead on to the left a little. You guys are all right. The ticket system in Portland for this show blows sweaty monkey nuts. Worst seats I've gotten for a VH show yet. I remember paying 20 bucks for the VH3 tour in 98 and the seats were great and easy to get. All well, I'm going!!!

How much did you pay?

The base price was $270.00 per seat and with the commission and shipping it totaled out at $605.95. I can't believe how much it costs these days to see a band with a history. I mostly go to blues shows at clubs now...don't spend the bigger dollars very often.

For me, it's 2004 all over again.
Here's the formula: Spend a stupid amount of time watching for the announcement of when the tickets are going to be sold...I miss it for a few days (gee, having a job can be so inconvenient at times), I then plug back in to discover that there wasn't any advance notice, and that the tickets were already put on sale, and everything but the nosebleed seats already gone. I see the same formula this time: Watch, watch, watch....TBA.....now they are on sale again, and again, nothing but shit seats available. I think I am going to say 'screw this' and wait for some other 'gone since the 90's' group to come through, or buy tickets for the next "Disney on Ice" disaster, and then see if I can get away with jumping the rail and pissing my initials in the ice before being thrown out by security. That is something I would pay $100 to see.

Everything else aside, this is definitely turning out to be the biggest cash-grab in history, since KISS went back on the road in 1996 (which I went to....yawn). Layers and layers of crap to wade through just to get a decent set of seats? Searches for tickets dwarfing any "Holy Grail" quest in known history?

You'll be able to see fine. The way that place is built, there's a decent view from just about everywhere (relatively speaking). There are also a lot of hotels in the blocks around the Rose Quarter. I'd bet that the Best Western across the street is booked, though (that's the closest). I think you can go on mapquest and it'll give you the local hotel info.

Speaking of StubHub...

That's where I got my tickets, and they showed up a few days ago. They're the printed page kind and they sent an attachment saying that if the venue has a problem with the tickets to call the toll free number right away. I can remember being at another concert where the announcement outside the stadium said something about tickets not purchased from the box office may not be honored.

I've always had regular, standard-type tickets. Anyone ever have a problem with printed tickets?

The problem with your Ticketfast tickets is that you have no way of knowing if the seller didn't just print up several copies and sell them to other people. My advice is to get to the arena early because if there are multiple copies of your tickets floating around, you want to be the first person to use them.

I'm taking a huge risk. If the tour cancels for whatever reason, I'm hosed. outside of that, I'm going to go to the box office and see if I can get hard tickets in exchange for these in 113. Like I mentioned earlier, we're driving up from Eugene and the Civil War game (which looks pretty crappy now, so may bail early). Anyway, does anyone know the time VH goes on?

I was guessing about 9 pm.

Crossing my fingers the I-5 drive isn't too bad, with the weather and game traffic.

Funny thing is, I just got back from Portland tonight. I'm a high school football coach and we won at PGE and are headin' for the state championship next week!

Be careful, the shows have been starting earlier then people think. In NY the opening act was on at 8pm and VH was on at 8:45. I have read also of VH coming on even earlier then that. So to be safe, get in as soon as possible so you do not miss anything.

Agreed, from the sound of the past reviews, it's a good idea to get there a bit early. I don't think the storm is suppose to have impact until tomorrow, so the drive shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Seenbad, we're gonna try and get downtown for a drink before. If we make it, I'll check for you in the bar at the Chop House. See if you can put a Diver Down flag in the middle of the table!!!

Enjoy the show everybody...

No, wasn't me...I do remember the name, though. Snow's coming down a little thicker now, but it's not suppose to last. After these ticket prices, I'll take the bus downtown if necessary!

According to the Rose Quarter website, you can bring a digital still camera, but no SLR's or video.

I'm heading out from Beaverton in about 15 minutes. You kids be safe and enjoy the milk and cookies and all the nice music now.

I'm doing it a little backwards, eating before Marley. Typically I'd like to get my contact high BEFORE I eat.

Anyways, hope somebody snags some good vid. John out, with my cock out.:headbang:

No problem. Just keep trying at random times. A bunch of spots open up daily. Lots of good Van Halen recordings on there.

Just wondering since they've still gotta do Vegas at the end of the month and my brother's talking about going.

I really don' think it's anything to look too deep in to Smitty. Really. I just don't think Dave realized Ed had his hand out and was waiting on doing the bow. Just didn't notice or spaced or something. I really don't think it was a deliberate snub but I could see where it could be viewed that way and obviously I wasn't the only one who noticed...hell, 17k or so did, but I don't think it was an intentional thing.

My brother and I were joking about the "snub" incident how people will post about it... I guess we were right... I'm sure it wasn't anything intentional...

Seenbad, Did you see where DLR threw the big ass microphone off the stage? That didn't look too good Man. I was expecting him to ride that thing big time. I had a pretty good view when he walked off stage and he did not look too happy. And furthermore, How in the hell can he forget to join his band mates for a final bow? Something maybe amiss in Van Halen land.

Just my .02 Dude. Hope all is well though.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, and realize you can take it that way. I just don't see any reason to go there. Nothing visible happened during the show that would indicate something was wrong. He threw it over ON to the stage when he was coming off the little hook ramp. No big. I just didn't see him as angry about anything at all. Hope I'm right, but who knows. I just know I got punched in the face with a really kick ass show. I really don't care if he was pissed or not. That's his prerogative I guess, but pissed or not, he owed me a show for the cabbage we dished out, and he totally gave it. Good/Good. I guess if there was a reason to be pissed, he'd be pissed. It happens. I don't think even if he was, it's probably not as big of deal as what people would make it out to be. I don't see them being so brittle as to not being able to handle a little temper, even if I did think that's what it was.

Regarding the bow - I thought it looked like he sorta did a bow and called it good, not knowing the rest of the band was going to stand there so long. DLR sometimes seems off in his own world anyway.

About the concert though, I thought it was pretty good. It sure did seemed like Mike's backing vocals were added into the mix though. It just sounded like it, not out front but in the background there.

I thought Ed's playing was somewhat choppy. Still great, but not what it was say, in 1998. At least he didn't seem all drunk and in his own world like three years ago.

Al was pretty good, and Dave did a great job. I thought Wolf's playing was generic.

I don't know if it is me seeing a bunch of variations through the years, or my cynical view of Eddie, but I didn't have that magical feeling I watching them on stage like I always thought I would. I always imagined it being something greater than the KISS reunion, but it didn't even seem like that. Probably part of that is because Mikey wasn't there.

Anyway, I'd love to see the tour again if the chance comes up.

Yep, there's some videos on You Tube this morning. Just search "Van Halen Portland," and a few will pop up.

He has stopped riding it. I'm guessing all of the people saying it looked "gay" have got to him. Which of course begs the question - if he isn't going to ride it, why bother with it at all?

He picks it up, drags it to the stage, and dumps it. He's been doing that for a month. Another conspiracy theory bites the dust.

Now it's 8:42 (EST) and still no reviews from Seattle. I looked on the Key Arena website to see if the show had been canceled due to the weather those folks are having ... nothing was indicated to say that it was. If the show still went on, then I would guess the delay with input could be because of lines being down or something to that affect ... I hope the botton isn't dropping out ... if they can just keep it together until Atlantic City ... :brickwall

I wanted to go to this show....the problem? I couldn't justify spending $500+ for three tickets, and not get decent seats.

$500+ spent on two hours of losing your hearing, or $500+ spent towards the insane, unjustified rental rates of the Portland area, with no reason other than crooked local government driving up the cost of property, with artificial growth boundaries, for higher property tax income?

I went with the rent, but listened to VH in my Mustang for two hours Saturday, with the volume cranked to full....and the neighbors all staring at me like I was.....listening to Van Halen or something. That will teach them to continue sending their snot-nosed little brats over to my house at all hours of the day.
I had my own concert, and I got to pause it whenever I had to go back into the house to take a piss. Do you think Dave would halt the concert so I could go get a snack or take a leak? I didn't think so.

Home concert > Actual concert, with 30,000 people who all smell like Pot, and bathrooms 1/4 of a mile away
