Thanks for the kind words...We don't have ANY ticket info yet. I imagine we will have some to give away. I'm also trying to set up interviews and all the other blah blah.
I'm guessing Ms. Liszewski isn't handling ALL the press for this. I'm waiting to hear back from the promoter.
Funny...we have VH and "The Other Half" rolling thru within a month of each other. One's at the Sprint Center (Capacity 16k or so) The Other...at the Uptown Theater (Capacity around 3500)
And there has always been the difference :)

Sam plays Tulsa on Oct 25. VH is in KC the next night. May have to drive up and get my complete Van Halen fix.
I get that you're probably a CVH fan, but is you're last paragraph really a fair assessment of each current lineup?
VH with either of the first two singers would outdraw the other singer as a solo show any day.
I will be driving up for the Hagar show on the 16th also.
KC is a GREAT city!!

Do any of you guys know when KC tickets are scheduled to go on sale? I noticed that shows schedules for the week prior have already gone on sale and sold out. No information available on the Sprint Center web site, Ticketmaster or Live Nation. Just thought I'd ask. Appreciate your help.

The rep at the venue's business office.
...count me in as well...
Bringing three friends along for just about the "perfect" getaway weekend:
Road-tripping from Lincoln to KC, catching a Friday night Van Halen reunion show, comp Harrah's hotel rooms, hanging in the casino all day Saturday, moving on down to Westport Saturday night...

Got mine.
Section 116, row 27. Ed's side of the stage.
Pretty much the section I was hoping for. I didn't want or desire floor seats.

Funny you should mention floor seats.
About 10 minutes after purchasing my tickets, floor seats in row 23 on Ed's side popped up. Nice.
That's okay, though, because I'm there to enjoy the show as much as I can without Mikey there, and, since the floor area is where most of the drunks seem to end up, pushing, shoving, and trying to squeeze into seating areas where they don't belong, I don't need or want some alcohol-induced jackass ruining my night.

Dude, if you're a member of AAA, just go to their site, and do a search under "hotels" in the KC area.
Others might tell you to work with sites such as Orbitz, Hotels.com, Travelocity, etc., but I've rarely, if ever, seen prices those sites offer that are cheaper than what AAA has to offer. Most often than not, they're all within the same price range.
Look here, too:

It is brand new and as far as I know there have only been two events there. The grand opening was an Elton John concert and then the WWE was here with Smackdown a couple of nights ago.
They haven't quite developed the area around the Sprint Center yet so there isn't much to do. There are a few bars/restaurants and a strip club within a few blocks. There will be a lot more by next March when everything is done.

Thanks the Rock Gods for this show. So fucking bummed about the St. Louis show, I totally need this show. 6:38am - can't sleep. Too busy getting shit ready for the drive from St. Louis. Too fucking excited. The Mighty Van Halen will be right in front of me with DLR in 14 hours. Saw opening night, but I was sitting back corner, lower bowl, Wolf's side. Tonight, FLR 1 Row fucking 6. I've had front row for VH 3 times in my life, 1988, 1992, 2004. This almost feels better though. Just different with Dave. Been waiting a long time. See you boys tonight.

bought St. Louis tickets about six hours before it was rescheduled.. lol. thats how I like to roll.
I'm envious of you KC'ers. Going to be a fun night.
I'd be going there myself, if not for the fact that I'd already made plans about six months ago to spend this Friday with my girlfriend in Eureka Springs seeing Willie Nelson in a small theater there. We had these tickets LOOONG before the VH thing was a reality. Still going to have a great time, but I'm really bummed about no St. Louis.
Have a good time folks, and don't forget to post reviews for the rest of us to salivate over.
Let us know how that new arena is... I've not seen any coverage on it yet.

Rumor has it STL won't be resheduled due to low ticket sales.
STL is a "Sammy Town" No artist has sold more tickets in that city...ever.
Apparently they're loyal to the boy.
That's what we're hearing here in KC
WRONG.
We get see them...just 156 days from now. MARCH 30TH BAAABBAAAY.
Ticket sales were around 12,500 at the time they announced it was postponed, that's hardly poor ticket sales when concert capacity is around 15,000 with every seat taken.

That was the word that filtered down from someone "in the know"
The fact that it was resheduled to MARCH of 08 might support the soft ticket sales part...but the Sammy part's a little hard to swallow
Sounds like after 15 shows, Van Halen finally mailed one in. I think these reviews are fair and unbaised and are true barometers of how the tour is proceeding. Since I can't/won't respond directly to the K.C. review thread, let me ask those who have responded to elaborate further on the show (* in this thread, not the review thread*) and let some discussion grow from that. Forget the "Wolfie isn't really Playing" thread and all that. Try to keep it civil. This is the first show that I"ve seen where all the reviews were not 99.9% positive. I think that's worth a little thread extension. Was Dave sick? Did Ed seem like he regressed back to 2004? THere are a few people who attended the show who haven't posted reviews...Vince G. and Paul Marshall, specifically, whose opinions I trust and would like to hear from them especially. Thanks.

Now is not the time for the band to half ass it. They have some serious dates in Mass. and NY coming up. They will be judged harshly so they need to bring it. Just from reading the posts and from what I have seen live, Ed might be going down a path that is just a bit too disruptive. Why? A million speculative reasons. Reign it in and keep it together. Be experimental from time to time and not every second. Lets hear more from the KC'ers who were up close. If Dave was sick that's fine but Ed is running out of excuses at this point.
I'm too tired from the road trip; about 4 hours of sleep last night. I'll give you the whole rundown of the show last night tomorrow. I was 6th row on Ed's side, and I was sober, so I have plenty of details.

Yeah. You're absolutely right. But I swear, the intensity of what I saw the first two nights... I can't imagine how hard it would be to keep that up over 50 shows. I guess I kinda knew they would have to break down after awhile, but shit...they knew what they were getting into. Still, I'm 41 and I play in a dinky little cover band maybe 20-30 shows a year and it is fucking HARD work. I don't have the luxury of limosines and roadies and personal assitants, but even without that, the performance itself is draining. Sorry for the people in KC sho shelled out all that money to be dissappointed, but hopefuly, they can get this thing straightened out and do well the rest of the tour. Shit.

Maybe the volume of the sound had something to do with it, but there were times when it was hard to hear the "groove" of the songs. There was just too much happening with the music itself. I will say it again, it was better than the 2004 show that I saw in Minneapolis, but I did think Ed reverted back to the "2004 Ed" during this show. It was just not clean playing. Ed had alot of energy, no doubt, but I would have preferred an Ed with less energy and better playing.
I listened to the steecoe re-master from the Charlotte show on my iPod on the flight home, and it was just a different band. It is disappointing.
Although the band was off, I thought that the crowd was very good and very much into the show. The crowd was very enthusiastic and had lots of energy.
I know alot of people have praised Dave and all, and I like Dave. I saw Dave in the 2002 tour and I saw him again in the summer of 2003, I think it was. He sounds better now, but I think he "speaks" some of the verses now instead of singing them. Do you know what I mean?
Also, Dave's "Joker Smile" face is over the top. It just looks too fake....and the Big Microphone routine at the end of Jump is atrocious.
I read on another thread that Wolf looks/acts like he is a reality show contest winner, and I think that is the perfect way to describe it. I do not want to bash the kid at all, because I think what he is doing at his age is quite amazing, but he hasn't earned a bit of it. I can appreciate that Ed wants to play with his kid and all, but I just have a hard time cheering for a 16-year old "contest winner" when I know that Mike is sitting at home (or in a motel room on the road with Sammy). There is just something very un-natural about Wolf standing on top of the ramp holding his bass up playing the intro to Running with the Devil. Also, the "C'mon Dave...give whoever the person you are talking to a break" line is ridiculous. Just say "..give them a break".
Wolf's playing is very good and really shines on Romeo Delight and So This Is Love. His vocals are ok, but the "oh yeah"'s during You Really Got Me are way out of tune.
I got the feeling during I'll Wait that they were trying to make this song into a rock/love ballad, i.e. Not Enough. It isn't that type of song at all and should be removed from the set list. CVH isn't about that. CVH is foot on the floor pedal to the metal. Little Dreamer is good enough to keep and should fit the need for the "slow love song".
Alex is just incredible.
...wow...really, wow. That's about all I got for right now.
I've given the KC show a couple of days to sink in, because, in all honesty, I REALLY thought my immediate reaction after the show was a little too harsh and cynical...
...but, the VERY FIRST post I look at around here is where "it looks like VH has finally mailed one in", and guess what?
THEY DID, period.
I'll leave it at that for now. I wanna go back and look over the other reviews of the KC show to see what the overall feel of the night was.
But, I would LOVE to sit back and discuss this show, because it STILL isn't sitting well with me, two days later.
I've seen the band almost 40 times since 1984...the good, the bad, AND the ugly. I'd like to think that this simple fact alone would give me a pretty good barometer on how they sounded/performed Friday night.
And the biggest problem I have with the whole vibe from the KC show is that VH may have finally settled in and are comfortable with being a "greatest hits" nostalgic act...
...and I, for one, AM NOT READY TO give up the ghost on this one, yet...
Enough for now...I'll settle back and see some of the other reviews...but I DEFINITELY want to get some thoughts and feelings about Friday's KC show off my chest in the next couple of days...
out for now.

Let's just hope this was a 'bad' stop and that they regain the moementum once again. I really (I know my name implies 'sam' fan but I love VH in all forms) would like to see this all go back on track again. As well I'd really like them to keep it together and produce a CD with new songs to tour with next round :)
I don't know that this is going downhill at all, I think it may just have been a bad night for the band and some bad sound issues. Maybe they didn't spend enough time setting up or sound checking the equipment? But it wasn't just the arena though, maybe that had something to do with it, but not all of it. And it did seem to get to Ed during the solo. And maybe the issues aren't Ed, maybe it is the tech, maybe the stuff wasn't setup right to begin with. We will probably never know for sure.
I still had a great time, and some songs were dead on, but issues in others was disappointing. Especially since I brought both my daughters and told them - now you'll see why your dad is such a VH fan-atic (I took my oldest to the 5 star in 04 but this was the first VH concert for my youngest). Remember most of us that have mentioned these issues have listened to some of the youtube and boots so we had the bar set for us. Ones that did not seemed to be rather happy.
I would like to hear from those in the closer rows (though the big screen shows alot as well, ie Dave's bottle of Jack) and see what their take was. I'm hoping the reviews for the next gig will being with ' they're BACK!' -- For now I'm going to listen to the Charlotte show again, that's the way I wish it would have been for us Friday. Still love that boot!

WOW!!! That little guitars clip was bad.. I saw them in CT and thought they were pretty good. Agree with an earlier post that DLR is not really singing the lyrics and that big mocrophone is hidious. Also that Joker smile is pretty awful also.
As bad as it is I still prefer the music of Roth over Sammy. The music not the singer. If Eddie played all of the old stuff without anyone singing I would go.

Yikes, that makes 04 sound stellar. What the hell happened there? Is it possible that is just a shitty boot, or did it really sound like that? I mean, that's really, really bad. That's what I sound like in my basement. Actually, I might sound a little better than that.

Ed fucked up. It happens. Was he hamming up onstage and fked up? Did he recover for most of the rest of the tune or was the whole thing a mess?

Got back from KC yesterday, so here is my review of the VH concert Friday nite. Met up with some friends met at the Greensboro show last month, and the party was on. VH fans were flocking downtown, so it was really going to be a good show. Met some really nice good-looking women waiting in line for the freakin metal detector, which took about 30 minutes or so. Traded emails with one of them, and she was going to text it to me, well she had verizon, and she had no signal cuz we were at the SPRINT center, I got sprint, and I had like 15 bars….. it was too funny!!!
Finally got inside, had missed the warmup band by the time we got our drinks and crap. Pretty brand new facility, and you could tell. Wasn’t a bad place. Got partying with several people around our seats, and they were cool!! Had good time with a lot of them. A lot of women all decked out for the occasion, and I loved to see it……
The concert starts and the place went wild. Now me personally, being we went to the Greennsboro show, I even said to myself that was the best concert I had ever seen, it would be hard to top that one, especially since I have listened to our audio from that nite over 30 times or so, and no its not the same audio that’s been floating around the internet, this was recorded from a lot closer ( http://vhshowdown.tripod.com/vanhalen2007greensboro/ )
A lot of people have been saying the concert stunk, VH is over, I cant bare to remember them this way, ya whatever! Sure they didn’t hit all the notes perfect, the show was rushed for whatever reason, time limit, got started late, whatever the reason. No banter in the songs, no mention of being in KC, no look at all the people her tonite, etc… People have been writing Dave was sick and forgot the words. If he was sick, he still gave a pretty darn good effort. And that’s all I can ask of anyone really. We were in the 6th row that nite, and you could see him clearing his throat all nite long. I don’t think he forgot the words, I think he was having other issues, so he couldn’t sing all the words. I don’t know, just my opinion. Wolfie is still slightly a deer looking into the head lights, but if I were a pimply 16 year old kid again, the only thing I would be worried about would be beer and in getting in girls britches… I don’t think I would want that pressure every nite of being on stage with those guys, but my hats off to him…….
Alex, well Alex was Alex…… He has been solid every show I have ever seen him in. What can you say, except he still has it. Eddie, well just didn’t have it. He had the energy, which was really great. After the first couple songs, you could tell it was going to be an off nite. Little Guitars for instance, in Greensboro, it took a minute or so to get ready for that song, in KC it was really quick, and it sounded like crap……. But I still cant get my car stereo that loud as a concert, so I was jamming anyway. This concert was about the experience, cuz the music was off. We met up with the women we were in line with after the concert. They had never seen any of the VH you tubes, any audio boots, or anything. So for them, they said over and over, it was a great show!! And it was, cuz VH was on stage. So they didn’t know they missed the banter and stuff, they aren’t worried about hitting the notes perfect, for them, and I agree, KC was about sharing the stories, partying together, and just sharing time!!! I am not going to cry that they didn’t live up to Greensboro, I knew they couldn’t in my own mind!
Now it definitely was the worst performance of the VH to date, but does that mean this band is over?? Hell no, they had an off nite, or whatever. Is Eddie drinking again?? I doubt it! Is there tension building now?? I doubt it! They get some time off now, they will come back and kick some ass, you watch. Its kinda like your favorite football team losing to the worst team in the league, which you know they should handle them with their scrubs, but still end up losing, only to come back next game and kick some ass like they have been doing all along. Well, VH will do the same, I am a betting man, so I would bet on this!!!

Check out the KC boot and see what you think of the sound. I am not about to stretch it as far as saying Ed was messed up at all. I certainly hope not. But there was a problem of some sort.
I was there Friday, you can find my reivew. I listened to the boot and that's the way I heard it then. Case in point - everybody wants some, no riffs in the beginning. Some rough spots on other songs as well. Maybe Brett will be able to post it on un-radio. I hope this will push the band to get things back together again. To me it sounds like an 04 version of Charlotte, not the crisp 07 Charlotte I heard earlier in the tour.
Don't let me sway you, judge the sound for yourselves.
I still had a great time, and I love the old tunes.

Let it be noted that the wheels fell off the Van Halen express on 10-26-2007 at aprox: 8:45 pm!:brickwall :irked:
One concert is an aberration; two is a trend...
Let's see about tonight in Boston.
(I hope they're all good next week in Worcester!!)
