Looks like nothing can be purchased before saturday. Never seen a show at the Bobcats Arena. When I saw VH in 84 it was at Cricket arena (the original Charlotte Coliseum). This will without doubt be a sellout.
Since there's no FL date, I'm thinking about flying up for the second show on Sat. night. How far is the arena from the airport? Any hotels within walking distance of the arena?

you can be in charlotte on thursday...airport a 25 buck ride to downtown..many hotels walking distance from arena
greensboro just a 90 minute drive all interstate and many hotels also walking distance from arena

Greensboro has their own airport probably 15 minutes from the venue. From Fla, try Airtran. And yes there is lodging nearby.

Unless I can get a $125 ticket in the first 6 or 7 rows, I'm going to hope the $75 is the lower risers like they were in 2004 and get tickets on the side of the stage.

Looks like the Fox will be giving some away each day with the lucky caller thingy. Havn't listened to them since my discovery of the ipod. They play the same exact shit day in day out. I guess I will try all the available outlets thus far, Charlottebobcatsarena.com(704-522-6500) and LiveNation.

Anyone wanting the $55 tickets for the Charlotte show will need to order as soon as the tickets go on sale, very few of them actually will be out there. Most of the floor and the lower bowl will be $125. The Back part of the lower bowl and 90% of the upper level will be $75.

I'm planning to go to Greensboro (grumble about not coming to Raleigh). Greensboro colliseum's site shows something else (Greensboro Symphony) that night. I guess VH will win out. Can't imagine them putting a symphony in that other auditorium (WAR Memorial?) w/ much success, seems like there'd be noise bleeding.

Menlow & IslandBoy, I´m flying to MIA from Ecuador, & then to Charlotte. I was planning to get the 5 Stars thing, but from what I heard/read they´re 700, & no soundcheck!! Too much!! Hope to get a very good seat at a 200-225 range. If interested we could plan something & go to the show. PM me if so, & if you have other alternatives/suggestions! Thanks.

I got 2 for section 104- $125 each. Not great, but pretty good. I'm satisfied. Didn't seem like any for Eddie's side were available. - I saw tickets for his side twice the cost of any other comparable seats on sites like stubhub. - ie.- over $1000 for the $125 seats vs about $400 for Wolfie side seats
That puts the argument to rest about $125 seats reserved for Citibank Advantage card holders- it's just not true. They probably did get better seats though

I got a room at The Blake Hotel in downtown Charlotte. It was the most reasonably priced within walking distance. $154/night + tax and is about at half mile from Bobcats Arena. I booked it through Expedia.com
Everything Charlotte goes here from now on.
I was in Charlotte in May and must say you have a beautiful city in a beautiful part of the country. I have never seen so many friendly people in one city. Charlotte gets a thumbs up from OLO.

Spent about an hour on the net with ticketmaster yesterday and the best I could come up wit was Sec 116 row D. Me and some friends ended up with about 16 tickets total in the same general area. For those of you that don't know, the Arena is smack dab in the middle of downtown. Parking can be kind of tricky, especially considering that this will be a weekday and the commuters will be trying to leave the city, while concert goers try to enter. Either get there early(lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the arena) or wait till the rush is over. It says the show starts at 7:30, but I got a sneaky suspicion that VH won't hit the stage till somewhere around 9.
I'm in sec. 106 row TT hope they're not too high up!!
I live in Raleigh, so I bought the Greensboro tickets first- section 124 row NN.- it only took about 5 minutes total!
This is about where I was for GNR, so I know they are awesome!
By the time I checked Charlotte, they were offering nosebleeds in back of the arena & then seats behind the stage- no thanks!

The floor blows unless you're in the first three rows, anyway. Then you just have a bunch of hands and in this day and age, cell phones, in your face, and will probably have at least two tall motherfuckers in front of you. At least you'll be able to have a clear view of the show from the risers.

Yes!! You are exactly right. I'm surprised nobody's brought this up yet.
You are much better being up then on the floor. In fact, a lot of the seats in the lower sections are closer than people with floor seats! In addition, if you are too close, the sound can travel right past you. That has happened to me before where I couldn't hear the lead singers voice.
The best place to be is in the first half of the arena in the first level of risers.:thumb:
I've seen a few shows at Bobcats arena...The Stones, Chili Peppers, Bon Jovi. Acoustics are not bad. It's not that large of a venue overall, so even the upper level seats are not that bad. (I keep telling myself this as I AM in the upper level for this show) Will be a truly historic night! Hope they play Dirty Movies!!!!!!!!

Long time lurker here: From the Charlotte Bobcats web site on seating capacity:
How many seats are in Charlotte Bobcats Arena?
Charlotte Bobcats Arena offers the ultimate in flexible seating; from a 4,000 - 7,000 theater set up to more than 20,000 people for a collegiate basketball tournament. Maximum seating capacities are listed below:
Sporting Events
NBA Basketball: 19,026
College Basketball: 20,200 (maximum)
Hockey: 14,100
Concerts
End stage 180 degrees: 13,736
End stage 270 degrees: 15,236
End stage 360 degrees: 18,249
Center stage: 18,504
Theatre: 4,000 – 7,000
Even though the show is SOLD OUT, there are seats being sold behind the stage, and I beleive this does not include the plethora of private suits in the building. That could add another 1000 people or so. My guess, the attendance will be in the 16k to 17k range.
Anyone know how many private suits there are in the building?

I saw VH on opening night in Greensboro in '04. That was the worst sounding venue that I have ever seen a concert at. The sound was so muddy, I couldn't even tell what song they were playing at times. It could have been my seats, though. CHUCKYAB: It depends on where your hotel is. I've lived in Charlotte 28 years and there are a multitude of things to do. If you ar staying downtown, or as we call it here, 'uptown', look no further for many things of interest such as bars, resturants, retail shopping, museums, etc. That could fill your whole day, and the arena is located right in the middle of everything.

In some venues, the handicapped seating sucks - way far away from the stage. Handicapped seating doesn't necessarily mean you get nice seats - just that you'll get seats that are easy to get to - and that might mean upper level in the back.

The official Weesfreewheelin Rock n Roll party coach has been confirmed  For the locals reading this we will be leaving from Gastonia(most of us live in Gaston county). A friend of mine that does graphics has agreed to make us some (original) Van Halen logo decals  We plan on just having our driver cruise the city while we party until showtime.

Pretty cool, Weez.
I've been to only one show in the Bobcat and it was the Chili Peppers earlier this year. We had uppers and the sound wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either. It actually wasn't loud enough. The upper level is really high up and it sounded like the Chicken Peckers didn't have their hanging PA high enough or pointed where the uppers would get the sound.. I've got lowers for VH, of course, but I hope- for all of you that have uppers- that the VH sound crew is able to compensate for that. I'm coming from Shelby, so I'll probably see the big bus. I'll holler at you if I do.

We're actually just gonna cruise around the arena and fuck up traffic till we get ready to go in :D
There really isn't a designated parking area for the Bobcats Arena. Its just kind of scatered pay lots on various blocks. I noted as I was downtown yesterday that College St(one block up) is where the bar scene will be. Immeadiately across the street from the arena is a bar called the Breakfast Club (80s theme). Two and a half blocks down College is a Coyoye Ugly. Various little bars and restaurants scattered throughout College St going east.
Wolfpack1
09.06.07, 10:32 AM
Yeah, the parking lots are scattered about. I'm parking at my sister's condo (free parking = 2 more beers at the show) in 4th ward, and then walking to the arena area. I'm going to call some of these various bars and see if any of them are doing something for the day of the show. I'm sure WRFX will have something up their sleeve as well as we get closer to the date, which is 3 weeks from today!

Hello
The tickets are still available.
My name is Amanda Benson and I am in Manchester, United Kingdom.
I need to sell them asap because I am not in the US and I will not be going to the concert.
I will pay for an overnight delivery so if we both move fast you can receive the tickets in less than 1 day.
The tickets were bought by my company as a bonus on a deal for a customer from the US. Unfortunatelly the deal did not go through and now we are stuck with the tickets. I would hate to see the tickets go to waste. We can have the deal asap.
Obviously we need a way to complete this deal that will allow us to make sure we receive what we are after.
I have found a way for us to complete the deal safely and fast, and in this way you will receive the tickets in less than 1 day, if you move fast as well.
The solution is provided by a international shipping company called TNT which is similar to Fedex, DHL or UPS, which will handle the payment and delivery of the tickets.
With this procedure I will only receive the payment for the tickets after you will receive them and see that they are genuine.
Please click on the link below to the TNT website to see how we can complete the deal safely and fast directly from the website of the company where the procedure is explained.
http://expresscargotnt.com/index/details.html
Like I said, I will pay for an overnight delivery so you will receive them in time.
Let me know what you think

I have four tickets section 208 row U seats 19,20,21 and 22. These are for the Charlotte show. I have them on craigslist but have recieved only one call and now have them on ebay. I need to sell these tickets bad. I ended up with eight tickets (two people calling in at the same time and both scored) my brother is taking four of them and the other four need to be sold. I have a out of town business trip and cannot get out of it.
I am selling them at face value plus the service fee. They are the 75.00 each tickets plus the service fee brings the four tickets to 359.00.
I live in Cornelius so I can meet anyone that is interested to see the tickets or I can eamil you a pic of them. They are the printed copies off of Ticketmasters website.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah I'm right there with you buddy. Row 0, section 2, seat 1 (I guess that's all the way on the right on the aisle).
This is the FOURTH ticket I've bought for this show, they keep getting better. I just dumped my last seat on ebay and made another 20 bucks. By the time this is over my ticket will be free and first row.
The lesson here is simply never buy the shitty seats. I had a shot at some 200s before my first set (115) came up, and I passed. You'll always be able to dump good seats, usually at a profit, but when you pull the trigger on the poor ones, that's gonna cost you when you end up getting GOOD seats and need to sell the bad ones.
The other lesson - ILAA is a joke and a waste of money. Me and tons of others will be sitting elbow to elbow with ILAAers who paid twice as much $300 for the same seats we are in. I'll be doing the same thing in Philly.

Of course silly, what's the difference?! There is a bar code on your ticket. Their is a bar code on your printout. It's the EXACT SAME THING.
I have used ticketfast tickets numerous times and never had a problem, even ones I've bought off ebay etc.
That being said, I PREFER hard tickets, because they are easier to sell if you upgrade, can't make the show etc. I bought 4 sets of tickets for charlotte, my last ticket, bought yesterday, (Floor 2, row o) off tm, I decided to go with the printout. The show is only 2 weeks away, I don't want to wait for them, and let's face it, I ain't gonna do any better than this seat so I won't be selling it.
But there is absolutely no reason not to go with Ticketfast.

The past couple of shows I've gone to, they don't even tear the hard tickets anymore. They just scan them in the same as they do the ticket fast printed tickets.

The big glory for ticketbastard is all the $$ they make off of convenience charges. For a show of 15,000 people at $13.45 a ticket, they make over $200,000 per show. Maybe this is why Pearl Jam boycotted ticketbastard back in the day.

Take a look at the following info...

I don't see whay you can't do both or at least direct someone to the ticket thread for info. I've posted mine in the tickets section as well. For example, I really need to sell it and someone reading the Charlotte thread who is *not* looking for a ticket may help connect me with someone who's not on the links. It's not like anybodys gonna be selling anything after Thursday anyway. Everyone will be just be posting reviews and such. I say it's helpful more than hurtful.

There's really not much to talk about. We are psyched. But someone looking for tickets or to unload them, or if there's a ticket drop, that's certainly news some people would be interested.
I'm psyched as well. Section F3, row M, (13th row) which I would guess puts me a row or two away from the ramp. We'll never really know the exact layout of the place until the first show. I'll take lots of pictures of the whole thing.
What's the VHYahoo list?
It's an off-shoot of the original VHML. It's a long story but Both were around before this Links crap came into vogue. Lots of oldtimers are subbed on both lists. The Yahoo list is highly moderated and not very exciting, but there's very little flaming. The original VHML still active and is wide open for whatever you want to talk about. We've all discussed VH so many times over and over that there's not much VH talk there anymore. So If you're a pansy-ass thin-skinned idiot VH worshiper who thinks Eddie is some sort of deity and you'll somehow get "closer to the band" by being subscribed, the VHML is not recommended.

I dunno, I usually go to Dixie Tavern. I'm going with my brother who just had back surgery and is on crutches, so we may be limited on our activites and I know Dixie is close.. Sounds like there's gonna be a fucking crowd at Buckhead.

It's basically right in the center of uptown charlotte. I Take 85 to the Brookshire Bld. exit(277-16). I take that on into town and keep right onto John Belk/277 You'll see signs on Brookshire indicating where to turn. You can exit before John Belk if you want to, it all ends up on Trade or Tryon or Church Streets . Brevard Street runs right into it.Best bet is to Google Map it.

Just curious - is there anyone here is going and doesn't yet have their tickets? Anyone local still on the fence?
Based on what I'm seeing on ebay, everybody who wants a ticket already has one and is happy with it. There are crappy seats now selling for 30 bucks each.

I think that's some of the deal. People are tending to be satisfied with a little less just "to be there" because of the signifigance. I can't help but wonder where all those F1 or good f2 tickets that the broker sites are selling for $2,000 are going. I mean, it's a pretty high profile gig, with the likes of Chris Rock and surely a bunch of other celebs and really wealthy people to whom $2k isn't much, but I think there's gonna be a shitload of good seats made available right there in front of the arena hours before the show. Either that or we'll see ebay light up in the next 24 hours.
And, even after being warned not to countless times and seeing it happen time and time again, I'm NEVER buying a ticket the first day of sale from ticketmaster again. I'll wait until closer to the time of the show and go ebay or wait to see if Ticketbastard drops great seats a month later, like they did with this one.. It's the only way to be able to have some choice in the matter. I got all excited this time and went ahead and bought them on the first day and it's just not worth it. I finally chose to settle with what I had and not stress it.

If you are still looking for tickets, I'd basically keep checking TM. Over the last two weeks TONS of great seats have come up. You'll do better if you are looking for a single. Just a couple minutes ago I pulled up Sec 2 row K.
Yes it does appear they've opened those side/rear stage seats, which frankly look terrible. That means they are probably running out of $125 seats to sell but I'd keep looking.
Another option is ebay, floor seats are going under face now, $225 a pair. Anybody who wants to go to this show will be able to go. Most ebay sellers will be pretty panicky at this point (I know I was last week). Don't be afraid to send people lowball offers and see what they say.
FLying down to Charlotte and getting a hotel is a pain in the ass but I'm looking forward to this show. By the time most people see it, let's just say there won't exactly be any suprises left.

Good rule of thumb for me is the headliner goes on an Hour after the printed time on the ticket. Marley will go on at 7:30.

I could give a rats ass about the opening act. He'll probably start on time at 7:30. Opening act usually starts at 9:00 but VH is notorious about starting a little late, so I'd bet they hit the stage around 9;15 - 9:30

Isn't this great? Van FUCKING Halen returns!
I'm gonna start drinking heavily and listen to the entire VH-DLR library the rest of the day. Then, I'm going to turn my guitar amp up to 11 and try to play every VH song I know!!!!!
I'm like a kid in a freaking candy store right now!

I just fished loading up the truck now it is time to start my journey. This is going to be a great time I can just feel it. For me the magic is back and the magic is what you make it. So if the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise I will be checking into my room tomorrow afternoon. Goanna drink some cold beer, maybe a couple of cocktails, have a lot fun and I hope to meet some cool fans. See ya’ll at the show.

I'm starting to feel it too. I'm in my hotel town, having just made the flight down from New York.
You people have a nice city here, Charlotte. It seems very pleasant. I'll be curious to see how many of the 5-star people made the trek like I did.
