I always hated the song, but I do understand what you mean, and completely agree.

I appreciate this song. It's like a way better version of all those lame soft rock songs that cram the airwaves every year. This one, of course, has Eddie with a mean guitar solo and it doesn't suck. I won't say it's one of their better ballads, but Eddie is just so on his game, it doesn't matter how simple it is.

I will admit, considering how much I dislike the song, it does feature one of Eddie's finest solos EVER laid down to tape...

I don't really have a problem with the song. I take it for what it is. It could have been huge if it was marketed the right way...it's way better than "don't want to miss a thing" by aerosmith...I remember reading that ed and sam wrote that while they were touring for the RHRN CD so it always makes me smile...I know things were rough when they did balance and if this was written before the relationship soured than it means something to me...I think they tried some new things on the song and I liked it for what it was worth.

As much as I love Eddie's flashy solos, this one has a lot of feeling. I'd put it in his top ten for sure.

One of the few times Eddie's playing actually reminds me of his idol Eric Clapton.

Still, not a fan of VH doing the power ballad motif.

Just saw this clip for the first time and DAMN.

It's amazing how incredibly tight this band once was.

Wow, just saw my post from two years ago. Anyway, I still feel the same, but for those complaining about piped-in backing vocals, there is definitely something weird going on here too.

The solo is amazing. I'm not a very big fan of balads in theory but with van hagar there was good music to back up the mindless banter that the singer regurgitates up. The other balad crap on the radio is just like a drum beat, maybe with a couple power chords on the guitar. Maybe.
I have never understood music that is not music, if its just a beat why do people call it fucking music!? Doesnt music by definition need notes?:brickwall

I have this on VHS if anyone wants a copy, haha. I did actually record this the night it was on tv. I also recorded two great Megadeth performances from Letterman around the same year.

I get chills every time Eddie kicks in with the guitar. A truly awesome performance from a time before the band collapsed in on itself.

Yeah, song - not so good - but the solo has so much feeling it's always been one of my favorites.

Damn! First, Eddie is such a cutie patootie when he grins at the beginning, playing the piano. Second, Sam's voice was in top form and beautiful for the song. Third, love, love, LOVE Ed's solo. I believe he was going for a George Harrison sort of feel for the song reminiscent of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Good times man, good times complete with the crowd going bonkers.
