Alright fellas, get your picks in.
I'm goin
Pats
Eagles
Rams
Jets *Upset special*
Colts
Steelers
Falcons
Vikings
Edit: I'm leaning Vikes, but that's only if Moss is healthy enough to make a difference. If not, then Philly takes it easily. Though, I'll be rooting for Philly. Not a chance in hell I root for that dickhead Moss.

Well I heard Moss practicied, but from what I hear his injury is forreal. I'm wondering how his ankle will hold up on the field here in Philly. We're getting hit with a bunch of rain right now, and it's supposed to drop about 20 degrees in the next few hours that I'm at work, so that field will be pretty hard and maybe a bit moist come sunday. The Eagles have better CB's than Green Bay, and Moss was held to like 76yds. What killed GB were the damn touchdown catches, which I don't think the Eagles will be giving up to Randy. It's their TE Wiggins that I think will be a huge factor since the Eagles don't cover TE's all that well.

This is the game Ive been waitin for all season.
manning is a punk.
vanderjack tossessalads.
and this NHL lockout is bullshit.

Pitt 24 NJ 6 - Bettis will roll
Indy 31 NE 16 - Too much Peyton
Illadel 21 MN 17 - No Moss, No peace
ATL 27 STL 24 - Vick will rush for over 100
PATRIOTS

EAGLES
Everyone is making a big deal about no Ty Law. Everyone forgets he only played 1 quaretr in the season opener and the Pats still won. Everyone forgets that the Colts "D" is pathetic???? The field is crap. The weather will be cold. No chance for the Colts. Another season, another Championship.

I think the thing that will hurt the Pats is Seymour being out. If they can't get a pass rush on Manning, it might be a long day for the Pats. If the game is close though, I think Vanderjerk has no luck of kicking and making a field goal in that weather. Vinaterri is the man there.
He's made 50+ yd kicks in worse weather than what will be in NE Sunday.

Couldn't make the one that mattered in Week 1 though, and that may be in his mind, we'll see. He hasn't had to kick alot this year because of all the TD's Peyton has thrown. Don't know if that'll be a factor or not.
Ask Mike Shanihan about the Colts D. :D
Its 55 who matters when it comes to manning.
I just hope brady has his shit together.
Hes been playing sloppy all season.
I know they have keeped the top off the field all week.
just to make it as trashed as they can get away with.
even thou its a cheap trick its still cool.
for those of you guys not from the east coast its been a mess the last 2 weeks up here.

Steelers
Rams
Vikings
Colts
These are the teams I'm rooting for.
The Pats will be playing on the same field as the Colts.
It's not like the Colts have never played outdoors before.
Missing a 48-yarder isn't unheard of from guys that can come out and nail a 56-yarder next time out.
As Flava Flav, a wise American, once said, "Don't believe the hype!"

Well, I just looked it up, and it's not too bad for the Colts. They're .500 in their last 10 coldest games the past five seasons. That's not bad, and they're a much better team then years before I think.
Colts in the elements
Here's a look at how the Colts have fared in their 10 coldest games in the past five seasons.

Ya never know man. I think the Steelers are due for a loss, but wether that'll happen against the Jets remains to be seen. Should be a good game though. In a way I'm secretly pulling for the Colts, because if the go all the way and win, Peyton will have the best season I have ever seen. And that would really be cool.
If the Colts get to the Super Bowl, I don't know if I'll be able to take it, man. lol. I'm a nervous wreck as it is waiting on this NE game. For it to be SB? Ugh. I'd have to be strapped down for the week of waiting. lol

I know the feeling man. I think about the Super Bowl every week, and hope my boys get there. It would be a first for me.
So you don't believe that a team that plays outdoors doesn't have an advantage over a dome team when playing outside come playoff time?
Sometimes, but I don't think it's the one deciding factor. I don't see where the Pats have an advantage in allowing the field to go bad. I just think too much is made about stuff like that. The Packers haven't fared too well on that whole "frozen tundra" thing lately, either.
I think it comes down to who makes plays and who doesn't make mistakes, more often than not.

I can dig it man, cause that's exactly right. I do think that weather is a factor, but yea it all comes down to making plays.
Sucka and Wray, speaking as a Panther fan, having your team go the Super Bowl is fun in and of itself, but if your team loses, all of that goes away after the game.
Pats 32
Panthers 29...in OT
It doesn't help to "make a game of it", either.
I've never even heard Jake Delhomme say it was nice to go.
You gotta win, baby.
It would be really nice to see the Pats get knocked off this weekend.... :thumb:

What are the lines on these games? Last I heard they were giving the Steelers 9-1/2...
The funny thing about the Jets/Steelers game is the media jumping all over Pennington for having his worst game of the season if not career. His QB rating was a weak 33.6, now here is the funny part, Big Bens was guess what?? 33.6 as well. bad game for both but Chad gets the shaft. lets hope for a turn of events this week. Hell the Jets were supposed to lose last week too.

True, but they would write Ben's mistakes off because he's a rook. Bettis had the best QB rating in that game. I think it was 130-something... 1 for 1 with a touchdown, lol!

It's all up to Vick and the Rams Defense...will be a great game to watch unless Vick can rule the running game. I am scared when he passes..he is the Rick Ankiel of the NFL.

Divisional playoffs....possibly the best weekend in all of sports. :D
My Picks
Steelers
Pats
Falcons
Vikings (My very own upset special! What can I say, I'm a homer. Isn't that what Pabs called me a while back?)
From what I've heard, Moss practiced yesterday and looked pretty good. I have to sit and wonder what kind of season this would have been if we hadn't lost Rosenthal and Kleinsasser for the year. We have a pretty good group of running backs, but we were never able to get our ground game untracked without those two in the lineup. I love Wiggins but he's not the run blocker that Klein-smasher is. The thing that my friend and I love about Wiggins is when he's running he looks like he's barely moving, like he's running through molasses or something. :D Like I said earlier, I'm not really sweating this game. We are not expected to win, and the Eagles have a lot of pressure on them to avoid the same fate of the last three years. Should the Eagles kick our ass I'll still pull for them to take it all, as I feel a sort of kinship with the Philly fans. Yes, that means I'll have to throw a little love Sucka's way. I won't be wringing my hands and jumping over my couch or anything like that, like I was doing on Sunday, but I'll be rooting for them.
According to weather.com it should be in the lower to mid 30's for the game. I can live with that.
My Picks

I bet Brien will get "FIRED" ASAP! The Jets should have won the game twice....great game though, the Jets defense really impressed me and the Steelers IMO looked vunerable....they did not look like a 1 loss team.
The shovel pass to Hines Ward was as sweet as it gets...what a great blocking scheme to get a T.D.
Way to go Steelers!

Brien===Fired, way to go Norwood twice in the last 2:30.
Steelers looked horrible today and not like a Super Bowl team, alot of weaknesses showed through today.
Steelers didn't win that game, the Jets lost it................twice.

Not sure if you can blame the kicker much for missing kicks at that range, in that stadium. Might want to fire that offense with the way they played today. Great job by the defense though, and they're only going to get better. Offensively, the Jets need help.
SuckaInA3Piece
01.15.05, 04:10 PM
By the way, that second kick by Brien. Had he not pushed it far to the left, it looked like it would have been blocked anyway. Atleast that's what I saw.
Wasn't Brien's fault, Edwards sat on it and didn't get him closer, no guts no glory. Neither of them were easy kicks, and the Jets could have run some better calls to get the second one closer.

Total agreement.
Bone-headed penalties, sloppy defensive coverage, mental misgivings...I'm not totally convinced that a "bi-week" is such a great advantage.
Sure, if your team is banged up, you get a breather.
You also lose momentum.
Witness the way the Jets played today. Look at the way the Colts are playing.
Anyway, I'm working tomorrow, yet I INDEED will be listening on my cheap "Walk-man".

I think the "bi-week" teams should have home field, but should play the lowest on the totem pole and NO friggin bi-week. A week off to get soft is not right..the hottest team in the NFL got lucky tonight. If there are shitty/lucky teams in the playoffs, they will be sorted out as usual. There will also be some upsets, but the shit will be sorted as usual.

The moral of the story, gentlemen, at "halftime" of divisional playoff weekend:
1. Live by your kicker, die by your kicker.
2. Atlanta is gooooood. Don't let a "bad" quarterback fool ya.
Sucka, the Eagles better win, because I want to see the Battle of the Birds really bad at this point. Two best teams in the NFC.

rams would do much better with a new coach imo

As a Jet fan, if you told me before the game that they would get a defensive touchdown AND a kick return touchdown AND cause 3 2nd half turnovers, I'd say there's no way we lose the game. :brickwall
People can say Brien should lose his job. The guy that should lose his job is Paul Hackett, the offensive coordinator. After seeing Brien miss the 47 yarder, and surviving the Chargers go conservative in FG range last week, he HAS to make that 2nd kick shorter than 43 yds. The bottom line is that the Jet offense scored 3 lousy points, and couldn't keep the defense off the field in the 2nd half. Playing in their 3rd overtime game in a row, the defense didn't have anything left in the tank in the 4th quarter and OT. They were on the field too long.
I'll be really happy when the Jets take the 2nd and long draw play out of the playbook.
I'm starting to get a little antsy right now. Are the Vikings going to carry the momentum with them from the Green Bay game, or are they going to do like the Rams and stink up the joint. I really believe that if they bring their "A" game they can beat anyone in the NFL. Watching the pre-game right now.
Fuck you James Brown! Comparing Randy Moss to Jackie Robinson is fucking asinine! Jackie Robinson was the only black person playing baseball at the time, it was 50 years ago. What was he going to do? Yell "Fuck you, you bunch of crackers!"? Stupid, stupid comparison.
How about those Dirty Birds? Wow what a game that was. It was nice to see the falcons blow out a team for once. Now teams will take them seriously. I hated all those people saying the falcons arent a good team and were going to lose vs the Rams. Now I would rather see falcons play Philly than Minn. I am afraid of Moss burning the floor with the falcons. Plus Nate and Kelly are having solid years. I could see Minn lighting up Atlanta. But not the Eagles. I would like to see how Wrs look for Philly now. See if they step it up. If the Eagles play the Falcons it would be a really good game in the NFC championship. Good Luck Sucka ! I am cheering for those eagles.

Whew! That game yesterday was scary. The Steelers didn't deserve to win but I'm not complainin'. After that game, there's no where to go but up. Glad we got our worst game out of the way first. We better stop the special teams/passing game bleeding or we aren't going to make it to the Super Bowl.
I'll be really happy when the Jets take the 2nd and long draw play out of the playbook.
Brother, I know how you feel. The Panthers' coordinator, Dan Henning, loves to run that shit on second or third down. It rarely works, and defenses can plan on seeing it five or six times a game.

Eddymon, how many times are you going to let us know about the weather? We get the point.
How is what the Minnesota DB did on that play that drew the PI any different than what the Philly DB did to Moss in the endzone on the 4th and 22 play? The bias against Randy Moss continues. The NFL officials are also classless individuals themselves. No matter what Moss has done, the same rules should apply on the field as applies to everyone else. It hasn't been that way for years.
We may get beat today, but at least I got laid last night! :D

He walked off of the field because there were 11 people on the field. Even if we had scored the TD it would have come back. They told him to get off the field and Tice tried to call the timeout but Frerotte didn't hear him.

Yeah, Culpepper and McNabb are the two best QB's in the NFC. They would rather beat you with their arms than with their legs, but they can beat you with their legs if they have to. Which ones better? Well, McNabb was today, but Culpepper showed me something today, he just never quits. I honestly believe that Culpepper will win a Super Bowl someday, I just hope it comes with Minnesota.

I'm loving this game, 6-3 and snowing like crazy? Hell yeah. :thumb:

Well, this game is almost over, and I do believe I called this one. As I said before, I'll take Brady any day in the playoffs. And after this loss, dome teams will fall to 9-26 in the playoffs. There goes that whole weather not being a factor thing. Great year for Peyton, but once again he falls short, and I hope that isn't the case for my guy #5 next week. Sorry for the loss Wray, but great win for the Pats. Congrats to all my New England brotha's. Let's hear it for Pats vs Eagles in 2005. :thumb:
Yea I'm about to go grab some dinner and watch that Colts game. Before I go, I will give props to the Vikings today. I thought that if the Birds came out and scored early on them, the Vikings would just quit. To their credit, they kept fighting and were in the game well into the third and even fourth quarter. So I will give them credit for being men, and having pride for the jersey they put on everyday. I still think that Mike Tice has a long way to go in order to beat a guy like Andy Reid.
Yeah, we need a defense! The Vikings did play better in the 2nd half on defense, just couldn't get it going themselves on offense, but that has a lot to do with the Eagles defense. If the Vikings can even get a respectable defense, they will be scary. Also, they had a couple chances at INT's and just flat out dropped them. :brickwall

Turnovers didn't help you guys either, and penalties just killed ya. I think it was like 8 penalties for 108yds, or something close to that. A couple of them were iffy calls, but that's why you play well during the regular season, so you'll have home field and don't have calls against you. They gave us a run though, so I'll give the Vikings credit.
The one thing I do want to point out, and HOPE Irvin does the same on ESPN. Mr. Moss clearly "alligator armed" a few passes out there, and Cris Collingsworth made no mention of it at all. Now they bash our WR's every chance they get, and he does it, and not a peep from them. I don't get it. It was also clear that he was hurt alot more than the Vikings lead on, and that really hurt them. But traditionally, the Eagles play Moss very well.

I feel bad for Peyton and Co....man do the Patriots have Mannings number! Home field advantage surely made it's point tonight. That will make it more important for the Colts to win a few more games next year. Soooo many what if's, but that is the NFL and football!! What a great game! :)
You take Brady, Sucka. I'll still take Manning. This a team game, and the Pats proved to be the better team.

Whatever you say brotha. I don't want to diss your guy, because it's clear that he's an elite QB in the NFL, but in the playoffs, Brady is 6-0. I know it's a team game, but having a great QB like Brady is crucial in games like today. Not once did he get frustrated out there, and that's something Manning was clearly showing. Brady just seems to have this cool as ice mentality, and that's why I would take him come january over any other QB in the league. That's just my opinion. I could be a homer and say I'd take Donovan, but it's clear to me that Brady is just THE man come playoff time, and his numbers show that.

Of course it could easily go either way. Curtis Martin wasn't runnin' all over us (77 yards) and I don't think Dillon will either. Plus I don't think they'll be able to stop our running attack. At least not for a whole 4 quarters. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach. You've already made up your mind. I'll also say that the Steelers beat your Eagles with a solid running game so you better look out for those Falcons next week!

Ouch. I'll also point out that the Steelers beat us without Brian Westbrook, AND now pro-bowler Trotter solidifying the middle of our defense. With the revenge factor in the Eagles favor, I'd like to see the Steelers again in Jacksonville. Oh, and since that Steelers game, we haven't been dominated by the run by anyone. Much of that is because of Mr. Trotter. I'm sure he'll be there to say hello to Mike Vick next sunday.

Only one losing team showed up to play this weekend. That was the Jets. The rest of 'em should be embarrassed. Especially the Colts.

My friend Jake and I were talking about Trotter's monster game. I believe the Vikings had a shot at him in the offseason, and Tice said that we didn't need any more linebackers. :brickwall

After what happened at Lambeau, I suspect Buck and Collinsworth were told to keep their opinions to themselves regarding Moss.
Irvin usually calls in on Mondays to the Dan Patrick Show on radio....Playmaker will probably have a thought or two to share on the matter. :thumb:
As for next week, I think both games are tough to call at this point. Philly's receivers answered the bell today. I've got the game I wanted to see (other than a sentimental Cats-Birds rematch ;) ) in the NFC, and I have absolutely no idea who wins this Steelers-Pats matchup.
I have to take both the Eagles and Vikes to task for leaving points on the field today. In the end it didn't matter, but conventional football wisdom says you always, ALWAYS take 3 points when you can get them. Why Don threw that pass going into halftime, I don't know.
But that was only thing I could find wrong with his play, being the expert I am. ;)
I guess I have to pull for the Steelers next week, since my team lost to the Pats last year, and I really don't like Teddy Bruschi.
And I guess I have to pull for the National Birds since the Dirty Birds absolutely OWN the Panthers, and I know how bad Philly needs to win this.
First Down Freddie gets a huge thumbs up for straight rockin' that hat and bowtie. :thumb:
Later, football fans.
Are Eagles fans really the worst in the NFL?

How the hell was that worse then what happened at the Pistons/Pacers game?? And this quote is my fave...
"The announced crowd of 67,722 seemed determined to enhance a well-earned reputation as the National Football League's crudest."
So you mean to tell me that over 67,000 people were determined to be jackasses in the stands? Was there a head count or something? This is dumb.
Fans like that are in every stadium around the league, and that's a fact. To brand a whole fan base just because of a few idiots, is ridiculous, and just not right. You take a risk when you go into a visitor's stadium wearing the opposing team's jersey. It's just the way it is. All you have to do at the Linc is get up off your ass, find an usher, and that usher will call security.
Yea, Green Bay is nothing like Philly he says. Green Bay fans were only yelling racial slurs at Randy Moss, but I guess we won't mention that shit. :irked:
I can't recall too many stories about Vikings fans being threatened with bodily harm in Green Bay, just for supporting their team. Philly's reputation would seem well-earned.

Well earned? Just from one story? I don't recall hearing about anything like this all year. If we're so rowdy, where was it during the regular season? Am I to believe that there were no fans of the visiting teams at the 8 regular season home games?
And what I also can't get is, if this Vikings player was so worried about his family, why did he get them seats in the upper level? Why not put them in super boxes where they'll be safer? And why did they sit there and take all that abuse? Why not just get up and find an usher? I don't get it.
If this Vikings were to play the Browns, would this guy sit his family in the "dog pound" with Vikings jersey's on? I don't think so. So with the reputation of what might go on in the upper level at the Vet, and now at the Linc, why would you sit your family up there?
That's a good question. Perhaps he didn't think that Eagles fans were as thuggish as they seem to be? I suppose a person wouldn't expect that kind of behavior in most NFL stadiums. It's pretty amazing to me to have people threatening to throw batteries at someone because they wore a jersey of a different color.

It's amazing to me as well, and I hate how the media tries to make it a Philadelphia fan thing. It has nothing to do with being a Philly sports fan, and everything to do with being an irresponsible jackass. I like to tailgate sometimes too, but at 6am??? No thank you.

It has nothing to do with being a Philly sports fan, and everything to do with being an irresponsible jackass. I like to tailgate sometimes too, but at 6am??? No thank you.I always wondered why too...Eagles and Phillies fans seem to get called out more as a whole than other fans, well except maybe recent White Sox issues, but it is not fair for the media to generalize any type of fan base as any certain bad or good type. Lambeau crowd is crazy just like any other NFL crowd, but they seem to be propelled in to Saint-Hood because the fans own part of the team. The St.Louis Cardinal fans are supossed to be the "best" in baseball, but they are not any different than Twins or Brewers or White Sox fans that I have seen during a game.....The Friendly confines of Wrigley: ever go there in with a Brewers hat and T-shirt????shit, that wasn't a friendly experience and I felt confined. BUT I fucking expected some shit, so I am not going to write that Cubs fans in general suck.
It's a no-win situation with this generalization from some stupid media people.
