Nothing against Mike or any other bassist, but I have never once been entertained by a bass solo. BORING.

The ONLY good thing about having Wolf in the band is no bass solo.

Actually, I take that back, I did like the Billy Sheehan/Steve Vai double solo they did on the EEAS tour, but that is about it.

I prefer the way Rush does it in concert, with an instrumental jam in which each member has a brief 5-10 second spotlight spaced throughout the song. Saw them a week ago: good show.

At least Michael ACTUALLY PLAYS his bass LIVE, and doesn't have it PRE-RECORDED....

Millie Van Halfass pulled the wool really tight this time out!

Well I'd like to see this one. I'm probably one of the few that actually likes Mikey's bass solos. The sounds he can get out of a bass are pretty kewl.

At least to me anyways. So where is it?

I just sent it to Kevin so he & Michael can see it, I'm waiting on one of them to call & let me know what's up. Not sure what he's going to do with it, maybe on a DVD, or might put it on his website??? Best bet is to keep checking www.madanthonycafe.com in the next couple of months! I can't see it taking longer than that, but I'll let you all know as soon as I hear what's up, or at least tell you what I can...

Take it easy!

Regarding Bass solo's, the finest I've personally seen are from the great Oteil Burbridge from the Allman Brothers Band. Incredible is all I can say. He's one of the finest pure musicians in that band, and that's saying a lot given the ABB is stacked with talent. His version of "Amazing Grace" is fantastic......

The Allman Brothers I think are fucking incredable! So much talent in that band it's sick! :smokin:

The ABB just announced the dates for their annual Beacon Theater run in NYC this spring. Also, they'll be playing several more dates this year than their typical spring/summer tour as it's their 40th anniversary this year.

Something of particular note is that the Beacon shows will be available to fans via the internet. A new company started by Butch Trucks (ABB drummer, and Derek Truck's uncle) called Moogis, will be filming and broadcasting all the Beacon shows on-line. Moogis hopes to eventually "wire" several venues throughout the country and broadcast on-line live, real time performances. As a subscriber to Moogis, you'll be able to not only watch the event real-time, but also view after the fact via their archives. The bands performing will own the footage, and Moogis simply gets the revenue from customer subscriptions. This is something Butch Trucks has been passionately trying to get up and running for a few years now. For more info. check out:http://www.jambands.com/Features/content_2007_02_20.11.phtml

I agree with that to an extent. What really bores me is drum solos....I use to really love guitar solos but they bore the hell out of me now. Part of it is they just don't make guitar players like they use to but even watching old solos of Ed's, Rhoads or Lynch just doesn't do it for me.

Your Rush example is great....I'd rather hear 3 or 4 more songs then hear some drum, guitar, bass solo. VH could in fact stand to add a couple more decent tunes to their set list. This Revision setlist was real run of the mill. I've seen VH tribute bands with better setlists.
