smoke up my ass (God I hope it's all Bullshit). Here it is folks, read it
and weep. TK, can you finally shed some light on this? Say it isn't so! I'm
playing Frisbee with all the Van Hagar disks in my collection!

There is a very big secret that none of you know??? I could lose my job
if word got out that I broke the news, so I'm using a deja account.
For the past ten months Van Halen have been working with DLR, they have
produced 12 quality songs working closely with producer Ted Templeman in
various studios across the US. All of us in-the-know at Warner Bros.
Records were very excited when we got our first listen, this was about
four months ago. We began to prepare for a double disc-album release
(one of classic VH live and the other of new material) and tour when
last minute details got in the way. DLR would not sing songs from any of
the post-1984 Van Halen albums (including the two best of songs he
performed). Dave made this known upfront, but everyone figured it would
work its self out; it didn't.
Now here's the big secret: To resolve this issue Warner Bros. contacted
and began negotiating with Sammy Hagar to join the tour. At first we
were going to let Sammy's band work as the opening act and then let
Sammy come back out to sing his VH songs. This idea didn't set well.
Hagar wasn't happy with the deal and said he couldn't do two sets for an
entire tour. We finally worked it so that Sammy could bring his new
material to VH. It wasn't easy but we got the band to agree to this on
the notion of breaking all the rules and doing something completely
different.
What you will get (on October 3rd) is a double-CD set of new Roth and
Hagar Van Halen. The Roth material has been produced by Ted Templeman,
most of the Hagar songs have been produced by Andy Johns and Ted. The
results are really fantastic, the music and lyrics are on par with the
best material Van Halen has created in the past.
What will follow next year is a double header tour with Hagar opening
the show and Roth closing. We're planning on three hours and twenty
minutes of Van Halen music, played to a stadium crowd.
Warner Bros. is aware of the status Van Halen holds in rock music, and
they want to help them make history. And we're going to do it!

Seams as though we have run into some what of a lull in new info, so people are going to make up stuff and some of us will buy into it because of VH's silence.

This could all be solved with a simple statement by VH.

God how I wish that were true. Sammey opening and Dave closing...WOW! Then some of the Hagar loyalist could get some exposure any maybe come to appreciate the mass appeal in which us Roth Heads so heartly share! Imagine both of them knowing that there reputations were at stake, the night in and night out competition to push them to do there best work. Being able to have 13 new Roth songs and new Sammey stuff...would provide all of us w/ the soundtrack of Spring 2001. It would carry over into the next year....to play in football stadiums around the country would certainly be one of the biggest shows of all-time. Then all of these New MTV generationers would finally understand how big Van Halen really is. It could unite era's and make us appreciate each others preferences. I know it's wishful thinking but I couldn't think of a better movie script. God bless the U.S. and God bless Van Halen!

This total crap. That would be stupid if they were to do that. Alleast in my opinion. This band has just about become a lead singer circus. I think it would just piss people off even more including Roth and hagar. Surely people dont believe that stuff.

Man I can not see Roth/Hagar sharing the bill. Eddy has enuff trouble dealing with Dave let alone adding Sammy into the mix. I remember a Guitar Mag interview where he said "If I ever see him(Sam) again he better be wearing a cup" I think Eddy is a great player but does not handle adversity to well. He said he cried when Dave wigged out on the MTV awards. He was hurt by Sammy's post break up remarks and when he first met Gary it was as if he met his "musical soulmate". (Short lived soul mating if ya ask me) I dont think he is up to the emotional roller-coaster the battle of ego's between Roth and Hagar that would definetly erupt within 10 minutes of the tour. Besides Van Halen IS Eddy, Mike Alex and Diamond Dave. Lata Snake

Of course it did! Who else could have convinced them to redo their songs with a fucking orchestra?

Now as for this rumor.... Someone is just recycling the old "Red Diamond" rumor from 97 (where Dave and Sammy were going to tour together and blow Van Danniels off the stage) and modifying it for the times. I don't believe they could find an insurance company that would write a policy for Dave, Sammy, and the Van Halen brothers being on the same stage. Maybe in Cleveland in February of 2004, but that's the only time you will ever see Van HALEN and Van Hagar occupy the same space.

(other than the best of CD, that is)

No possible way in hell Sammy and Dave would EVER share a stage.

Nice try, but "come on Dave, give us a break".....give us some other rumor where there's a POSSIBILITY it could be true http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/wink.gif

Eat Pants 4 Life

A) Roth may have been floundering as a solo act, but he's never been so desperate to rejoin Van Halen as to share a stage with Hagar;

B) No way in Hell you'd ever convince Hagar to get on stage with Roth. Wouldn't happen regardless of the money offered, and Hagar's only into doing things for the fun of doing them, so that ends that concept right there.

C) I don't see how Van Halen, being Ed, Mike and Al, would ever agree to it.

D) It's just a dumb idea. Roth, fine; Hagar, fine; both, no.
