Funny thing is...for Californians, Fresno would be the place to go for cheap up front tickets.

Not that I'd be caught dead attending a Van Halen show in the dustbowl central valley hell of the raisin capital of the world.

One of Cali's "Meth" capitals as well. Still, you bring up a good point. Might be one of the more crazy crowds on the tour, speed freaks not withstanding.

Oh, thank god for Oakland. I just hate San Jose..

Totally agreed. The Shark Tank has the worst acoustics ever and SJ just plain sucks anyway. The Oakland Arena is pretty sweet and I can get there from the City in 20 minutes instead of driving down 101.

The '04 Tour had a much better vibe in Oakland than in SJ too--maybe too much, as a fight broke out in Gen Admission right behind me. Notwithstanding, the guys (VH) actually looked like they were having fun that night and Eddie played pretty well.

On a side note, at the Oakland show I saw a couple of 40 year-old chicks with their kids who were all tramped out! I'm sure this wasn't exclusive to Oakland, but nevertheless, it was very disturbing. The sluttly thing might have worked back in the day (makes you wonder how many of those kids were conceived at prior VH shows), but seeing these ladies displaying their stretch-marks and the muffin tops made me weep for their kids.

Agreed on the comparison of the two shows in '04. San Jose waas definately not their night. BTW, love the phrase muffin top. I laugh every time I hear it. :D

 I just spent all my energy in my last post cutting on San Jose--San Jose is a Florentine mecca of culture and class compared to our Central Valley brethren.

But, as I always say, just as you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't judge a city by the size of its women's hair..

...or by the number of missing teeth...

...or by the number of shots you'd need after visiting....

Good news for Bayareans....Oakland is a far better venue than the "Tank as far as concerts........besides the acoustics, the nosebleed seats there seem to be too high and steep....everytime I sit up there, I get vertigo....and living in SF it's just a short hop on BART to get to the show.....the shows at SJ and OAK are a month apart though......so I will probably end up going to both......IF the SJ show isn't a trainwreck.....I would rather see them in Oakland......but I won't take a chance on missing them in San Jose....alot can happen in a month......Fresno?....not a chance......for those of you who have never been there, to get a feeling of what it's like.....read a Steinbeck novel.....pretty depressing

Hellll Yeahhhhh!!!!

Now I can choose to go to the Nassau Coliseum show on November 7 or the Madison Square Garden show on November 13. Or maybe even both.

Hmmmmm. The Garden is known for better sound but the Coliseum is like 15 minutes from my house. What to do, what to do.

I have the same dilemna. Meadowlands is 10 minutes from me, but the Garden is a better venue, better sound. I think I'll do both!

I went to 7 shows in 2004 and Oakland easily had the roughest crowd. I was in that floor GA section near the front and there were a bunch of fights.

San Jose was just another show. For some reason, whenever I've seen concerts in SJ or Mountain View the crowds just don't seem into it as much as other places.

Wow, I was on the floor there as well and don't remember seeing any fights. My friends and I were the equivalent of being 15th row or so on the left side. My experiences at Shoreline have always been great though. I see what you mean about the Shark Tank though.

That's because it's full of Raiders fans like me.:thumb:

I remember the Balance show there (after the first show was cancelled). I never saw that many Hell's Angels (three full rows) since I was locked up in DeRidder, LA.

I saw a fight or two but they were over quick. I didn't enjoy so much the droves of guys who just plow right through the middle to get closer to the stage though.

Shoreline has been good to me too but people seem to either love it or hate it.

Just for old times sake it would be cool for VH to play the Cow Palace again...
