Amen! graemlins/thumb.gif

What's sad is that 90% of all white males in America under the age of 25 listen to rap (or some horrible hybrid like rap/nu-metal) instead of rock. :( graemlins/irked.gif

If you add an E to the end, this is what it also represents musically!

I'm not too fond of this so-called genre. And unfortunately I gotta hear it all the time on campus when it's booming from the loud speakers.

*oooo*

i used to hate it until i heard my self say things my parents used to say when i listened to van halen.

time to get with the programs and give all forms a chance maybe?

Yeah, a little harsh, but i think some of it is warranted.

My friend, a music major at Rowan University, defines rap as "more lyrical poetry than harmonic chord progression"

Initially many of you would be inclined to say that it's barely even poetry, although SOME of the lyrics (there isn't much else) are very deep.

In conclusion: 99% of it sucks badly.

I do have good news however, I'm a white male under the age of 25 who knows what real music is!

True. Guess I'm one of the few here who likes rap. I don't listen to it much - probably only about 5% of the time I listen to music - but I got quite a bit of respect for it. Some of the rhymes are incredible...there's some serious talent and creativity there. It's not as impressive as someone who can play an instrument like they were playing it since birth, though.

The unfortunate side of rap is that there's too much of the following:
1. "nigga that, nigga this", etc.
2. shootin' and other general lawlessness
3. bitches, ho's, etc.
If there was less negativity I'd listen to it more. Not much more.

I think rap is like rock in general. Most of it's not all that good.

What's sad is that 90% of all white males in America under the age of 25 listen to rap (or some horrible hybrid like rap/nu-metal) instead of rock.

I blame that on the VH Trading Forums (just kidding, Scott!). So, who or what is to blame for the decline of rock?

Well all of the old rap jokes I see...Well I hear a lot of it unfortunately I go to the "ghetto" school of our town, and each race is like a quarter of the school. Rap is talking with someone pounding on something in the background. Turn on the news and pound on a table in no particular rhythm. Rap right there. I was talking to this ghetto kid and he said nigga is a noun cause its a person place or thing and im like ok g dawg whazzup in the hizzouse b dont chu be frontin im gonna have to call lequicia and she whoop yo azz b straight up DROP IT LIKE ITS HOT. Yeah it sucks.
