The first thing is sweet! Eddie and Sammy on Bob Costas. The second, is something MTV did for the opening of Cabo Wabo. I edited out the videos and commercials. It was like 4 hours long. Eddie is kinda chubby and he looks a lot like Wolfie did during the 2004 tour. I would kill to have the video of the whole show that they did the night Cabo Wabo opened.

p.s. Kari Wuehrer is/was hot!!!
p.s.s. Does anyone know why the audio and video are out of sync at the end of my videos? That drives me nuts. How do I fix it?

That was awesome. I never got to see that back in the day, because we didn't have cable- but I remember it being on. Wow. The guys could really ham it up for the camera if they wanted to. They seemed to be having the time of their lives that weekend.- I'm sure some booze and drugs helped too. There's gotta be a bootleg of that performance right? that might have been the last time they played "summer nights" or "5150", I'm guessing. I would give my left nut to see that.

Loved the Costas interview....great stuff.
Let me make one point here WITHOUT LOOKING TO MAKE THIS A DAVE/SAM THING. So all you DLR fanatics, relax. This is just an observation and I'll say again that I love both era's equally. If I had to pick a favorite VH era I couldn't. That being said....
The reason I think Sam is such a cool shit is because he can sit there and have a conversation like a normal adult and not embarrass himself or come across as disrespectful to Costas. Sam can just sit there and give straight, genuine answers. Dave, on the other hand, would have rambled on with endless quotes and banter leaving Ed to squirm in his seat. He would have given us his played out, tired attempt to always be some comedy act. Again, I love DLR, but I always found Sam refreshing for that reason alone.

I seem to remember Valerie being on that show around that time or maybe a year later, and then at the end, Eddie joined them with Wolfie. or was that another talk-show?- anyone else remember that.
I loved the Costas interview too. Ed and Sam come across as two regular guys who really loved and respected each other back then... oh well

Love the Costas interview. Thanks for posting!:headbang:
Funny what Sammy says in the interview about there being NO negativity from the fans when he joined the band.....obviously this was PRE-Internet Van Halen :p
Man Ed and Sam seemed so close back then, I miss those days :(

Dam....If only things were like that today. Seein them on the 4-wheelers and just having fun almost brought a tear to my eye because I know that magic is gone or might never come back.
When Ed said that Mike, Sammy and Al were his brothers, I almost wanted to believe him.......fastforward to 1996, Eddie was ready to take a lie detector test against sammy.....talk about ironic.
I really liked the part about how those dudes from Desert Storm listened to VH constantly and I thought that it was really fitting for VH to invite them to the soundcheck.
=VH= is Eddie, Sammy, Mike and Alex......in one way or another. They still might be brothers but brothers who forgot what brought them together....

Dude thanks a million. I never saw that MTV show. Amazing. Those guys were having a great time.
My how times change. Lesson? Enjoy what you have when you have it because it will inevitably change.
Peace
This was why we loved 'em so much, back in the day! Thanks for these cool vids'!
When Ed said that Mike, Sammy and Al were his brothers, I almost wanted to believe him........
That's the quote I zeroed in on, too. I think Eddie meant it at the time. "We're like family. Mike, Sammy and Al are my brothers."
Damn.
That really makes the circus seem sad. They lost more than a good band. Hope they can get it back.

I watched the costas stuff, man Ed and Sam really seemed to be on the same page, that's how I remember them..being friends. Too bad it all went to shit..it's really sad when you think about it.

Yes, you are correct. It was the Bob Costas show... '92 or '93. Have it on tape somewhere. :irked: He was there at the end with Wolfie after the comm. break. Costas mentioned Ed & Sammy being guests on his show previously. Little Wolfie was just a cute little guy on the show. Costas aked Wolfie what his favorite song is of his daddys band... Eddie said Wolfie would walk by mics in the studio and sing out "Right Now"
Mommy and Daddy also encouraged Wolfie to cheer "GO SAINTS." Cool to see the whole family on tv.

I've been wanted to get that on bootleg for years.
BTW, they played 5150 on the balance tour..I know they did it in ST. Louis, I used to have a tape of that show until some rat bastard at my old job stole it.
