I just won a copy of the DLR "She's My Machine" single on eBay. I only wanted it for the non album track "Mississippi Power". As I'm still waiting on the CD and haven't heard it yet, I just thought I'd ask if anyone else has heard it and if so what did you think of the song?
It's cool, it's a bluesy song, not an uptempo rocker. Sort of reminds me of Tell the Truth.
It's another song that adds fuel to my theory that it's slower, bluesier material that Dave is most suited to now.

AWWW - it's fuckin EXCELLENT!!!! DEFINITLY should've been on YFLM (it should've replaced Cheatin Heart Cafe).
It was recorded for the sessiond for the FLM album - but SOMEHOW!!!!! didn't make the cut. Dave didn't write it - I think it was written by Preston Sturges...I think???? - I know it was one of the guys who co-wrote with him on the ALAE album, - very bluesy, smokey kinda vibe - and some mean harmonica by Diamond Dave himself. Very well produced too - people criticise Nile Rodgers production on YFLM, but Mississippi Power is just right.
I think I might just dig out that aforementioned cd. Ian Sane - you are in for a treat - let us know whatcha think when ya get it.

Glen, I tend to agree that the slower bluesier material suits Dave's voice now, plus it was great to hear him crack out the hamonica. Definately should have been on the YFLM album...

It's no Stairway to Heaven, but I am sure it is hard to write a song about a girl with cancer named Ashley Abernathy who likes to ride ponies.
He did a good job of it and he should be proud, I am sure she really enjoyed it. It is nothing you would want on a mix CD unless you are making one for your six year old however.
