Hey I was bored so I came to read this thread to bother you guys....Some points:

1. I left that tirade from Ed up last night basically to embarrass him, I was pretty angry. He went nuts at the DLR Army board after I told him to relax with the CONSTANT VH3 bashing, and he went postal there at me, then he came here and went nuts. So I decided to have it out with him because he deserved it, but in hindsight it was probably a mistake. Isn't my first, won't be my last on this site.

2. Moderators being stripped of their titles. I have never asked a moderator to resign, usually they tell me they can't do it anymore, they don't have time or whatever. A couple people just vanished, like "JR" who was the first moderator ever on here. "FromAfar" is around, but he didn't post enough, I felt a change was needed in the Songs/Albums Forum. "Victor" also disappeared for a while, now he's back, but I thought we had lost him, so I added two new mods in the forum he was in. Other than that, the modeator turnover has been very small, "Greg" is still around, he has been a moderator since Day 1 of this place, and "YankeeRose" and "Jimmy" have been around almost as long.

It was insulting, vindictive, and ultimately pathetic. I was shocked that Ed posted such garbage and I went from not believing it was him, to being pretty pissed very quickly.

I stood up for him a few times because people would yell about him digging up threads. They were right. I just tried to ask him to find ones that were funny instead inflamatory.

Yep! I agree with you! I think the difference is that the Wolfgang is a more perfected guitar and it may not sound quite as unique and raw as the old VH sound because of its perfections and better tone. I'm no guitarist (although I hope to be if I can just find me a cool guitar) but its just my opinion. Here's the deal.

If this makes me a tree-huggin' hippie, so be it.

I live on a farm, in Iowa. Yeah, the corn and the rolling hills. It's not so idyllic. We're surrounded by industrial-size hog confinements, huge concrete blot-on-the-landscape "hog factories" that are putting small hog farmers out of business. Our "fresh country air" sometimes smells just like hog manure, depending on which way the wind is blowing. Some manure smells kind of good and sweet and farm-ish, but not this stuff.

My neighbors spent saved up a lot of money a few years ago to build a nice little man-made lake behind their house and stock it with fish. They got enjoyment out of this for 5 years, and then a hog confinement moved next door. The fish suddenly die. They test the water and find it's poisoned. They shell out the bucks to have their water treated and cleaned up. They re-stock the pond. Six months later, the fish are dead again, and they test the water and it's poisoned again.

They can't legally prove that it's the hog manure running off into the creek that feeds their lake.

"Save the water" is a little more than just a catch phrase for us.

Now, the neighboring town of about 5,000 wants to bring in a gigantic beef packing plant for economical reasons. The proposed plant will employ 1,000 workers PER SHIFT. Where are these people going to come from? Mexico. We're looking at 3,000 migrant workers PLUS their families. Now, I am NOT a racist and I have NO problem with the Hispanics living here, but I DO have a problem with the fact that they're only getting paid minimum wage to work in this kind of hellhole. They won't be able to afford decent housing. The town will double in size and it will be trailer parks. You KNOW there is going to be a massive drug problem. It's going to put a strain on schools because these kids are learning English as a second language.

Plus, there's the environmental stuff. This plant will use thousands of gallons of water per day, water that we don't have to give. More fish will die. Wells will go dry and plants WILL shrivel up and die. Do you know how to tell if your water is fit to drink?! It doesn't turn brown! It looks like water, and you drink it, and then you get tuberculosis.

The air is going to smell awful for 10 miles in every direction. Anyone who has any money is not going to want to retire in that smelly meat packing town. They'll move to Florida. The city will die.

The only upside to this meat packing plant is the business it will bring to the gas stations and grocery stores. That will only last about as long as it takes everyone to pack up their stuff and move out once they realize that their fresh country air ain't so fresh anymore.

So call me a tree huggin' hippie, but sometimes trees are a good thing to have around.

Nothin' much here, Down. I had to work at the restaurant on the night of the Fourth, and it was a bitch, but at least I'm getting really good at making ice cream cones!

Yesterday, a couple from New Zealand were visiting friends here, and they came in with their friends and asked if they could try some root beer, since they'd never had it before (I guess root beer is something they don't have in New Zealand!) so I let them try it (they didn't like it.)

And then when they were leaving, I had just made a banana split, and their American friends pointed out, "That's a banana split." And the New Zealand guy and girl came over and looked at it sitting there on the counter like it was the most exotic thing you'd ever seen in your life.

We think the world is so small now, but in some ways it's not.

Back when I was a Freshman in High School, I used to take a bus from my house to the school and back.

The Junior had the bright idea to make snowballs and bring them onto the bus. Our bus driver only spoke spanish so he didn't know what the hell was going on.

The juniopr told us that at the toll booth we'd stop at that we all had to throw snowballs, or else he'd beat the shit out of us. The guy was seriously nuts. So the bus gets in line at the toll booth and when it's our turn to go through, we throw our snowballs and the bus pulls out.

It's not that easy. If I tell people that, they won't understand. They'll think I'm blowing them off. Then they'll say, if you don't want to be bothered, then why are you online in the first place? Or why aren't you on invisible mode?

There's nothing wrong with being on invisible mode. It's like having an unlisted phone number.

You can put certain people on your ICQ "visible list," so they can see you regardless of whether you're invisible or not. That's like giving someone your phone number, when you have an unlisted number.

The nice thing about ICQ that AOLIM doesn't have is the fact that you can send a message to someone who isn't online, it will be saved, and will come up next time they fire up their ICQ. And vice versa.

Yeah I agree with Lead Synth and forgot to mention that you can add certain people to your visible mode. When I get online my ICQ automatically comes on so I usually don't mess with it, but when I doing something for school or only on for a few minutes to get something I don't have time to talk. When I don't have "Privacy" on and this happens all of a sudden people want to chat. I feel bad when I tell them I can't b/c I know that makes them mad but I can't help it. So now I usually set it on "Privacy mode" a good bit when it's really late or someone's on that likes to talk a lot and I don't have the time. Although I do have a few people on "Visible mode" which is usually family members or very close friends and if I become really good friends with anyone else I add them on too.

It's morning there in Italy, right?

Man, it was great to see Dwight Gooden at least one more time at Shea Stadium. http://64.176.3.141/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

I went to a bar with some friends and we watched the game there. When Gooden came out to pitch, the place got quiet, listening to how the fans at Shea would respond.

There were mostly cheers, which was classy. The boos that I heard were most likely not for Gooden, but for a questionable call that the first base umpire made in the Yankees favor.

Everybody in the bar stood up and cheered. People were literally glued to the set. I've never seen anything like it.

It made you feel so good that people were behind him, you know?

Gooden had a drug problem, but he beat it. He never got into any other trouble. He doesn't ask, "Why me?"

He's always thankfull to get the chances he gets. A nice change of pace from what we're used to in sports these days. http://64.176.3.141/vhlforum/smilies/wink.gif

Gooden was great considering how much pressure he was under and the backdrop of the situation.

I've downloaded "Maybe We Went To Far" which is a song by the band Scandal, whose singer Patti Smythe, is married to John McEnroe.

But the song is live from one of Scandal's shows. Smythe says that Eddie Van Halen is going to play with the band for the song and the crowd goes nuts.

She says that Eddie told her it was his favorite song off of their album. The song isn't great, because they weren't a great band.

Hey, you know what album I was listening to today? RHRN-Live. That thing is underrated in my opinion.

It has too many FUCK songs, not enough 5150 for my taste, but it's still a good listen.
