Stupid. Why would Sam continue to play with the Wabos 4 weeks before the Chickenfoot album launch???
Is he borrowing a page from the EVH book of bad PR???

I don't know why he'd do the San Diego gig, but the Tahoe gig you can pretty much bank on every year. Promotes that club.

I gotta make it up to one of those shows sometime.

Hopefully, they will release some dates here in the US for Chickenfoot soon.

One, Sam was probably already obligated.
Two, Sam probably plans on keeping the Wabos on the payroll as who knows how long Chickenfoot will last, many supergroups don't last long it seems.
Three, Sam loves to play live. The Fresno Polka All Stars could probably call Sam and ask him to come jam with them and he would say "sure, why not, sounds like fun."

Paid to do nothing? The Wabo's have had to hang with Sammy for over 10 years now. They record, tour, practice, drink a shit load of tequila only to be torn apart online by the anti-Hagar crowd. The Wabo's have earned every penny they make and I'm sure none of them would complain about the life they have lived with Sammy. My guess is they are enjoying the year off to spend with their families and appreciate that Sam gave them the chance to do some stadium show last year on Kenny Chesney's tour.

AVH Blues, I'm not talking about when they're gigging. I'm talking about when Sam'll be out with Chickenfoot for a year or so, the Wabos won't be doing any actual work and still getting paid.
I think it's cool, so awesome that I could only wish to be in their position!

Absolutely, I meant what I said about Sam in a positive light, not as a negative.

I'd love to be put on retainer. I've known several top notch players that were on retainer with various groups. One in particular was a sax player for KC and the Sunshine Band. Whether he played or not, two thousand bucks in the bank ever month. He worked year round with all sorts of projects but he got paid regardless of whether or not he worked for KC. Of course, if KC called, this cat had to drop whatever he was doing and get on a plane to where ever the hell KC was. It's a great way to live as far as I'm concerned. Best part about it, when he WAS playing with KC, he got his two thousand bucks PLUS performance pay so it was a really good deal.
If Sammy has the Wabos on retainer and is paying them while he's out with Chickenfoot it does nothing but speak to his commitment to them and his good nature. He doesn't have to do that.
