It was years overdue, good to see it done.
Why is it when bassists get kicked out of bands they don't mention them on their websites much at all? Dave Ellefson from Megadeth did the same.

I believe it might be that they are more humble ? Atleast mike is ! I saw the pics of him with billy gibbons, jeff beck, jimmy vaughn at that jam !! The way I look at is mike is now taking advantage of his opportunities in life instead of sitting around waiting for that old guitar player to get his S**t together. Ed might be playing better now but it won't be that way next month, next year...... or whenever he decides to drag everybody down again. I like mike but I tell ya if he goes back to van halen he is a fool. Good things are going to come for mike if he keeps going in the right direction. :thumb:

He's just waiting for Eddie to get drunk enough to sell him the Van Halen name.

Glad to see that the IQ level at the Links is still at a constant 4 (just enough to breathe).....
If you saw Mike's old page...you'd see pictures from the 2004 Tour and even up until recently Mike had a link to the VH website.
Why is it that bassists don't mention the band which booted them on their sites...maybe it's because they got fired...and are not in the band anymore.
But that doesn't apply to Mikey here.

Yeah, I know what was on the old site. I doubt the first thing he did when he was out of Van Halen was decide to sort his website out. He had a number of other, more important things to deal with.
And this is the third of fourth bassist I saw do this, I only made the comment since I'd only ever noticed it on bassist's websites and it seemed to stand out to me. It wasn't an attack on Mike, if that's your suspicion (which I didn't infer, but want to make clear in case that's why you have a problem). I just kinda noticed it. There was no meaning behind it, just something unusual I saw.
And it's cool to know that the first time you felt the need to reply to one of my posts, you told me my IQ looked like it was about 4. Shows you took the time to find out what kinda person I really am, give me a chance and all that. Given my academic achievements, social adversity I've had to overcome, the varied range of people who's company I am accepted by and way I impress anyone who matters (parents, teachers, employers, interviewers etc.) with my maturity and intelligence....I guess you're probably wrong, I'm no idiot. But you don't know if I am or am not in one post, so please don't decide so rashly. I'm not here to cause trouble, but I'm not gonna let people insult me even if I'm new - I've had enough trouble thrown my way to know how to handle it.

Ok, actually if you follow the link on Mikes site to Sammy's site you will find a link to the Van Halen site. So there you have it.

Mike's old site had a link to the Van Halen site.

I see no reason whatsoever why Mike should link to a website whose owners no longer acknowledge him as the integral part of their outfit he is.
Why should they benefit from his support, if they can't reciprocate in the same manner?
It's a testament to Sam that he still offers a link to the official site. Back catalogue sales, the only reason I can think of in continuing to do so, don't come from website affiliation.
iTunes and Amazon MP3 sales are pretty much taking care of all their respective royalties.

Isn't it funny how Mike, who isn't a part of a major touring act whatsoever, could throw together a much better website than the second highest touring rock act of the last year? :smokin: :D

Absolutely! I'm surprised that Mike kept their link up for as long as he did actually. Why should he anymore?

I think since Mike signed away ANYTHING to do with Van Halen after the 04 tour, that, unlike Sammy, he receives no royalties anymore? I might be wrong.

I'll be honest, it'd take about 4 hours work for me to make a site as good as VH have now. And I'm an 18 year old kid. Cost to get a real site is NOTHING. I don't know why they haven't really.

No. The agreement Anthony signed stipulates he will no longer receive songwriter royalties for the VH release "1984". He still receives royalties from the other VH albums. The following is a post I offered in another thread, which makes an effort to clear the water a bit:
The entire "Anthony/Van Halen" royalties deal is somewhat murky, to say the least. According to the Antimusic website, the signed agreement that took place in order for Anthony to perform with the band in 2004 was for the duration of the tour only, with the VH brothers to make a decision later on. Apparently this included his removal from credit from the "1984" release, yet he still gets credit on other albums.
http://www.antimusic.com/news/07/aug/2017.shtml
Yet according to a brief interview with Rolling Stone in 2007, Anthony claims his royalty status is unchanged. Apparently this agreement was aimed at heading off any future claims that the bassist may wish to file.
http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdail...-the-internet/
It's still somewhat nebulous, yet it pretty much amounts to a "not-so golden parachute" agreement. He will be compensated steadily from now on, yet he can forget about making any sort of adjustments to the rate or standard of what he is being paid. In the long run, this could actually work out in his favor, as the demand for older VH product diminishes, he will still be entitled to a fixed rate of compensation.

The answer to that is pretty obvious: Van Halen simply has/have not adapted to the ways and means of current trends. Remember the "brain-trust" at work here waited several weeks after it's 2007 tour began to even think to offer for sale a single piece of tour merchandise at it's own web site! The concept of PR instilled by this "organization" is to draft a poorly worded and amateurly written newsletter to send via email, then reprint it word for word at the site itself.
The idea that you could make the site worthwhile in 4 hours is a novel one, as it represents roughly 3 hours and 48 minutes more effort and dedication than the band (or it's publicist) has put into the damned thing since it's "relaunch" several months ago. :D

I know that, I was just pointing it out to the people who seem to have a problem with him not linking to it. I see know problem to him not having a link. It would be like sending out a Xmas card with a pic of you and your ex wife on it!

How many degrees of linking does it take to get to Kevin Bacon's (http://www.baconbros.com/site.php)website? :D

I'm not too good with scripting though, only ever really coded in anything other than HTML a handful of times. And I was being generous. How much do you reckon Eddie paid Wolfgang to make it?
To be honest, the no glass bottles is a perfectly sound idea, just the same as why the beers you buy are in cans/plastic glasses, it's just a safety thing...besides, in 06 it was the same.
an official statement would be nice, the silence from previous threas and from this one speaks volumes about what the rules are. If one were to read into them, of course.
Yeah. You ever checked their management company's website? Van Halen are their only client. And their website's not much better, though it is slightly.
The EVH Gear site has a cool timeline but that's probably run by the hardware company?

Just let me know when I'm supposed to cue in the violins...
Mike looks sad on the front page. What's up with that?
He has every right to be...but I doubt he is that much anymore.:{
When I saw Mike's redesigned site, the first thing I did was check for the VH link (which of course wasn't there). I think Sammy has found some resolution with his exit from VH (because he discovered in '04 that it was in fact better to be doing his solo thing), but Mike has just been dissed in every way. I know I'll probably never forget the removal of his images from the "new" '07 VH website, and he probably won't either.

Who could ever forget those blurred images from the six-pack? That was way lame, even for the bros.

I'd like to see someone photoshop Van Halen albums that remove the entire lineup except Mike from them on t-shirts, that'd be cool to wear.
I think also, Sammy knew what it was like to go solo. He was solo before, during and after Van Halen and his band was ready and waiting for after the reunion too. Mike's got no idea what he's doing really, this is new to him.

I like the new site. Somebody mentioned Mikey looking a bit sad in the pic and I must agree. A nice welcoming smile woulda been nice, he looks so down. Of course all the show pics more than make up for that since he looks to be having a blast.
It's kewl that we can still add our comments.

How could lowering one's self to the behavior level of the Van Halen's (or those in their employ) in any way be considered "cool"? Anthony has shown by his own actions and behavior through this mess that he holds such a level of integrity and dignity that such ill-advised stunts are proven unnecessary.

Using that somewhat inane logic, Van Halen should have more or less one of the finer official websites on the planet, what with all of the "down time", wouldn't you say, professor?

Odd discussion... I'm guessing some of you don't realize/know that Brad Starks is the webmaster for both Michael's and Van Halen's official site.
I don't know what crawled up the Van Halens asses on the t42design site launch but it was supposed to be a full site similar to their old one. The band soured on the internet when they had their message board and shut it down when Val & Ed separated back in 2002.
Most likely Ed pulled the plug on the current version when the fans called them on thier revisionist crap and altering the original Classic VH album covers.
