Former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony has posted the following message on his official blog:

"Last Friday [Feb. 23] one of my dreams came true as I got to jam with three fantastic guitar players, Jeff Beck, Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Vaughn! It was for an event here in L.A. at the Peterson Automotive Museum, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the '32 Ford. I'll have pictures and a writeup all about the event on my site hopefully this week. In the meantime you can also see a couple of shots on Jeff's web site: www.jeffbeck.com.

"On Sunday [Feb. 25] I surprised Sammy [Hagar] at the NASCAR race, where he played a few songs before the race. I jumped up to sing a little on 'I Can't Drive 55', which was televised before the start of the race. Next I'm looking forward to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on Mar. 12, then I will fly down to Puerto Vallerto to meet the cruise ship to jam with Sam's band (THE WABOS). We are working on a few older VH songs, and I'll be handling all the lead vocals..WATCH OUT, HAGAR!! I'm looking forward to bashing it up a bit with all of you on the cruise!"

Anthony isn't letting his dismissal from VAN HALEN get in the way of his feelings about being elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. On his web site, the bassist previously wrote, "I was very excited and honored to learn that VAN HALEN would be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this March. I want to thank Eddie, Alex, Sammy, and Dave. It has been an amazing experience and I am very proud of what we have accomplished. I'm not sure yet how the induction ceremony will work, but I'll keep everyone posted as I find out the details. A Big MA Toast to all our fans for their tremendous support over the years! Love you all and bottoms up!!"

Last year, Eddie Van Halen announced that his 15-year-old son Wolfgang had replaced Anthony in the band. No announcement has been made about the reason for the lineup change.

The band will be inducted March 12 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

What the hell is wrong with Beck, Vaughn, and Gibbons?!? Why did they choose to play with some "no-talent hack" like MA instead of playing with EVH's 15-year-old son?!? Wouldn't they have rather played with a "shredding" bassist?!? ;)

Seriously. What were they thinking, lowering themselves like that? :D

All kidding aside, Mike joining Jeff Beck's crew would be nothing short of...well, completely bitchin'.

sorry about the double thread. Didn't realize this was already posted. I'm never starting a thread again, even if I have news that no one else does. I'm taking my ball and going home.

Maybe Jeff Beck could join the Chickenfoot project, that would make things interesting...

Sammy Hagar - vocals/guitar
Jeff Beck - lead guitar
Michael Anthony - bass/backing vocals
Chad Smith - drums

Bring it on... :thumb:

Update at Mad Anthony....

DEUCE WEEK JAM
POSTED: 3/02/07

Last Friday night, Michael was on hand at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles where he jammed a set of down home blues standards with fellow hot rod enthusiasts Jeff Beck, Billy F. Gibbons and Jimmie Vaughn as part of "Deuce Week" - a six-day celebration of the 75th anniversary of the 1932 Ford Deuce and the biggest party ever thrown in honor of the Deuce, the "Deuce Week" Gala.

Tearing it up to a standing room only crowd of 1,200 gearheads and rockers, the jam concluded a fundraising event and auction for the museum and it's 32 Days of '32 Fords exhibit, raising more than $60,000. Michael signed and donated the Yamaha flamed bass he played on the 2004 Van Halen tour which fetched $16,000 and Beck, Gibbons and Vaughn all donated signed Fender guitars as well.

Adds Michael, "Besides bashing it up for the '32 Ford's B-day, it was a dream come true to be on stage jammin' with these legendary guitar players! Truly something I'll always remember."

A bit of irony. ZZ top are playing in the town I live in tommorrow. They have a tee time today at the golf course right behind my house. One of the course owners has a house on the #15 green and we are meeting there in a little bit too cook some food for them. If I get the chance I'll ask Billy. At any rate this gave me an opportunity to brag. Now, if only it pans out................hopefully I won't have to retract this tommorrow.:D

Thanks, Let the healing begin. lol .....I really have started to believe that I do not want to meet famous folk that I have admired ( not neccessarily Frank but, the band). Virtually every time I have been dissappointed. I am not a fanatic of anyone. When I meet them I try to be considerate and stay out of their way. These clowns act like it's a burden to say something courteous. Me and my buddy let the pro in the pro shop know that food would be available on #15. Good ole Frankie shows up (the green on #15 is about 30 feet away) and I asked if they were hungry? His response without looking our way,"no we're not!" All he had to do was tell the pro we won't be eating, or tell them to go fuck themselves, or heaven forbid, no thanks. At least, we wouldn't have gone through the trouble. Hell, I was already dissappointed that it was just him.lol

When I left the house this morning, there was that big brown bus sitting in the course parking lot again. If you want to be incognito and not bothered; Stop driving a million dollar bus to the local golf course in a town of 15,000.

It's mine and the wifes anniversary and as fate would have it we are going to see ZZ Top tonight.

Another funny side note. While I was being dissed by Bam Bam another friend of mine called. He was getting gas at Wal Mart, and ran into Billy Gibbons and got his guitar signed. He said Billy was a helluva nice guy.:yell::o :o

Mikey has posted the following message on his official blog:

"Thanks for a GREAT week!!

"I just wanted to throw up a little post about last week and how great it was!! First of all I want to again thank all of you on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction! It was a night I will NEVER forget. Sam [Hagar] and I had a great time. It obviously would have been perfect under better circumstances, but nonetheless it was an honor to be a part of it.

"On Wednesday after the induction ceremony, I flew to Puerto Vallerta to meet the cruise ship headed for Cabo. That night Vic Johnson, Dave Lauser and myself played a two-hour set of some of our favorites, including some 'old' VH stuff. I can't remember the last time I sang lead vocals for that long...It was GREAT!! I saw a couple of short clips on YouTube yesterday. If you want to check them out just type in Sammy Hagar 2nd annual cruise or follow these links:

Jesus Just Left Chicago [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBSYtr59H9A]
The Immigrant Song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEjA1YkYINk]

"Sammy and I finished it off with a noon time show at the Cabo Wabo on Friday the 16th. A big THANK-YOU to everyone who was there and on the ship!! It was an awesone time meeting and hangin out with all of you. I needed a couple of days rest after that!! (DETOX TIME!!)

"One last thing: For those of you who can't get enough Michael Anthony hot sauce heat, we've just come out with a XXX RESERVE sauce that should be just what you're looking for. We have it available in my online store now. Check it out and let me know what you think. It's not scorching heat (I want you to be able to finish the meal!!) but just hot enough to maybe remove a few taste buds!!"

Well, I seem to remember Sting having a little bit of a solo career. Dont know if MA is in Sting's class as a musician and composer, though; kinda hard to tell from the bass lines in VH stuff.

SuckaInA3Piece

If MA was in the same class of musician as Sting, I'm sure we'd know by now. And I mean no disrespect to Mike. I just think he does what he does, and does it very well.

That Planet US project would have been pretty bad ass, but they decided to scrap it for the VH "reunion" in 2004.

Be careful of what you wish for. One of the worst pieces of dreck that I ever purchased was Billy Sheehan's "Compression", where he tried to convince the world he could sing and write listenable songs. :barf:

The point being that the gift of talent is no promise of quality.

Why don't you guys wait and judge an album until after you hear it. Granted it will most likely never be made. Unlike the haters, I wait to at least hear something before I judge it. If it sucks I would say so, however, I think Mikey could pull it off because of his experience and connections. He could get a lot of people to do guest spots.

To the guy who said something about a bass player doing a solo album. Man you got no fucking clue about VH and Mikey, as he is so much more than a bass player.

Video from Petersen Auto Museum Jam, February 25, 2007

Jeff Beck, Michael Anthony, Jimmie Vaughan and Billy F Gibbons played a set of blues-inspired standards at the Petersen Auto Museum. It was part of "Deuce Week", a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the 1932 Ford. In addition to the notable music contributions each have made, they are also respected hot rod enthusiasts.

Note that video quality is total shit & not sure how long the link will be active

I never understood what people saw in Jeff Beck...
To me, his playing sounds very disconnected...
not much flow or groove to it.....

maybe it's just me...
I would listen to Ace Frehley over Jeff Beck anyday...

as far as technique....
EVH smashes Jeff Beck into little pieces...WAY more feeling to his playing too.

Ace Frehley and Jeff Beck in the same sentence, paragraph, post..whatever...makes ZERO sense. Jeff Beck is one of the elite guitar players in the last 40 years. Frehley is plain awful.
