For me 11 years since I was 14. My style consists of mostly originals with a few covers to throw in. My songs are a mix of Seattle Grunge and Van Halen. I call it Van Grunge. The main key I play in is Dropped D.

I've been playing guitar for almost 20
years now. I started learning drums about
2 years ago. I mostly work on original
music, but I have a horrible habit of
making medley snippets of bands I like.
Right now I'm working on a Van Halen one
which includes snippets of as many VH riffs
as I can learn all strung together. It's
great fun to play at parties.
