The quality of that show is really good. I always thought that if they'd ever do an "official" release of a Dave era show, that one would be the best candidate because of the quality. Doesn't seem like it would take much to clean that up in the studio. Even though YRGM is cut at the end, they could fade the sound into the studio version and run the credits over it.

Oh well...maybe some day...but probably not.

i guess it's up to ed, the warner archives, or whoever stored and leaked out largo concerts by various bands from the same venue.

Apparently, the venue recorded the shows until it was torn down

i love it how even though van halen is one of my fav bands, they really are one of the only bands of their stature that has barely released material of the band live, on audio or video, or demos, or whatever releases.

it is so very odd. and it sucks for their fans. they should do what deep purple have been doing and release tons of live recordings and what not on cd, and now they are doing archive dvds of old footage. a shame....

The one thing I liked about Pearl Jam was when they started releasing all their shows on cd.

It's Rhino Records (a subsidiary or Warner).

As many know, it's not just Deep Purple. It seems like each day there are classic bands releasing very cool material, remastering/remixing their catologue, etc.

VH claims to be one of the greatest live bands of all-time, yet seems to have so little material to show for it.

It's Rhino Records (a subsidiary or Warner).

I think the Rhino deal was only for BOBW and (maybe) future stuff, that is, assuming they actually do something in the future. I'm pretty sure Warner still owns the old stuff, it's way to valuable for Rhino.

Nope!

From: http://www.bsnpubs.com/warner/rhino/rhinostory.html

...
On the good side, with yet another major catalog (Atlantic) to choose from, Rhino product issues and sales again surged, as Rhino became the reissue arm for a huge conglomerate. And Time-Warner left Rhino alone to do its thing the way it knew best, without interfering with the content or quality of the Rhino product. But the corporate atmosphere of the music business was a far cry from the informal atmosphere of the Rhino Records store of 10-15 years earlier, and tiring of the bureaucracy, some of the Rhino executives left when their contracts expired. And in 1998, Time-Warner exercised a clause in the 1992 agreement that allowed them to purchase the remaining 50% of Rhino. Ironically, in 1992 even the store was part of the deal, as Time-Warner took over ownership of the Rhino Records store! But through the mystery of legal fine print, after the 1998 buyout, the store reverted to Richard Foos!

If I could project what I've got stored in my rapidly fading memory, I'd release it. :drunk:

They really were great back in the day. Trust me. ;)
