I played a coffeehouse the other night. I mostly did covers. The last song I did was "Can't Stop Lovin' You." So, before the song I go, "This is one of my all-time favorites. Came out in 1995. Name the artist!" and I play the song. Afterwards, I was like "Anyone want to hazard a guess?" And some people shouted out band names--someone said Bon Jovi, someone else said REM, one guy said Toni Braxton(!?) But nobody knew it was 'Halen. I was kind of stunned.

I said, "It's Van Halen. Whatsa matter, don't I sound enough like Sammy Hagar for ya?" They laughed, so I know they at least know who VH *is.* They just didn't know the song...which was on the radio a lot when it came out. And these are college-age kids, mostly older than me!

I tell ya...

geez, i'm 12, and i know if its a vh song. i hate pop. i mean it too. rock is the thing for me.
