The Taliban in Afghanistan has just declared a holy way against the United States!!

Hmmm...they deny bin Laden's responsibility in the attacks on NYC and Washington, we have NOT attacked them, and suddenly they have declared a jihad against us.

It sounds crazy, but I'd believe it. They'll try to rally other Muslim nations to their defense with it.

Is this on FOX abe - i just saw the same report flashed up, but its now been downgraded to 'taliban warn of holy war against the US' ?

I caught it on one of the news channels in passing and didn't see which one I had on...and I just see (on Fox) that now the report is downgraded to a warning. These 'journalists' are quite reliable this last week, eh?

It's hard to believe that they'd be so foolish as to delcare war on us, but I saw it last night too...only it was on MSNBC...

Reading what was said in the radio broadcast is like hearing Falwell and robertson blame this whole thing on homosexuals, and then later listening to him back pedal about what he REALLY said.

It sure looks to me like he said he's declared a jihad against us, but it also appears that he's not in any authority to do so. Doesn't mean that they still won't do that... but why? We haven't done anything to cause that action. All we've done is talked about a planned retaliation. They're gonna declare war on us for talking? Gimme a break.

It seems to me the only reason they are talking so tough is this has to be what bin Laden wants us to do. It's like they expected this reaction and are preparing for it knowing we won't rest until that guy is in our hands.

While the Afghani people are shocked and grieving over what happened in the U.S, they believe that the United States is using the tragedy as an excuse to bomb them and stamp out Islam. That is why a Jihad has been declared. Apparently, they believe Bin Laden's statement that he was not involved.

The most ridiculous thing is these people don't understand this has nothing to do with Islam. This has to do with terrorists praying on innocent citizens. Nobody is out to stomp out a religion, but to stop a radical group of nuts.

Such a sorry state of affairs in the Middle East.

The US Constitution, at it's heart, is based on Freedom of Religion, and the seperation of Church and state.

These terrorist idiots,who go to bars & strip clubs and drink alcohol, are NOT religious.

and they pray on the misfortunes of the arab people who have NOTHING and use "holy war" as their battle cry.

freedom of thought, freedom to do whatever you want with your life, freedom of religion, and everything else that freedom covers.

these terrorist ---who one guy on one of the shows(there's been a ton of pannel discussions) echoed my thought of the time of Osama being some kind of "Dr. No super villian from a James Bond movie"
I thought that was funny, but someone else didn't.--hell, I found myself agreeing with Newt Gingrich and I thought I would NEVER see the day THAT happened!!!

however the point he and others were trying to make, and was further hit on during other discussions was that THE ROOT of all of this comes from regimes(sp?) that support this philosophy of ruling their people thru terror and dictatorship IS the disease--while bin Laden is just a symptom of the disease

see, these regimes hate us because ---for an example---we let our women have a voice

a regime is EVERYTHING a democracy free society ISN'T

I won't try to sum up 8 hours of debate in this one thread.

Just keep educating yourselves as much as possible

and remember that when you hear The President, Collin Powell, and the rest of those people telling you "and the states that harbor them" keep in mind that in essence they are telling you "until the entire world lives in this global economic social democratic society" the "war" will continue.

I usually try to stay on the sidelines and not get all wrapped up in politics BUT this IS'NT about that

it's about freedom and those that wish to destroy it.

the USA just happens to be the poster boy for freedom, even though more and more of the world is subscribing(and in some cases reluctantly) to a global economic and domesticly(sp?) democratic free society.
