Eddymon, glad you finally got a listen to it. Buy the new album, I promise you Wicker Man is actually one of the weakest song on the album IMHO!!!

You will enjoy it man, that kicked ass in London, we are quite lucky in that they are going to come back to the UK before the end of the year, or that is what Bruce yelled to us when they finished the gig at Earls Court.
The guys in my band are all pretty psyched about Maiden coming to LA, they were all huge fans in the 80's. We keep jamming Maiden tunes for fun in practice, because I've been listening to a lot of it lately. They're actually becomming a bit frightened because I haven't started playing a VH riff in a few weeks.

I have no money. http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif The tickets are probably going to be too much and with this damn wedding I have coming up I am trying to save. I would like to go though.

Hey Span Doc,
Do you know if Maiden changed their set list when they began playing the US? I saw the set list they had for that London show, Earl's Court. As much as I like the new album, I thought there were too many new songs and not enough classics.

Personally if I went, being a relatively new fan, I would be totally bummed if I didn't get to hear most of "Live After Death" at that show. It's not like they have been together with Adrian Smith and Bruce these last 8 years or something.

Well, I know they are gonna play 6 new songs.
Keep in mind that they ALREADY DID a "greatest hits" tour when they reunited in '99. And it DID contain most of the Live After Death songs, they even opened with Aces High. They did that last year so there is absolutely no point in doing it again since they tour behind a KILLER new album. Let me hear the new songs! http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif
Vinnie:
You say you'd rather hear the classics... but how do the new songs are EVER become classics if they never play them? It's just like when we talked about the Van Halen tour coming up, you really surprised me when you said you just want them to play 2-3 new songs... WTF ???

Well Span Docs, 2-3 songs is usually a standard for a band that is playing behind a new record.
I didn't exactly say that I'd RATHER hear only classics. But don't ya think 6 new songs is a bit too much? Doing about 4 would be better.
You're right about the fact that songs only lend them to be classics if they are played. No arguments there bro.
But, I would like to hear "The Clarvoyant" and "Running Free" in their set. Are those songs in the set list? I hope so.

The Clairvaoyant hasn't been in their setlist since 1993, sorry to disappoint you... and I'm not sure about Running Free.
But I hardly know a Maiden fan who has always been satisfied with their setlist... including me! http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

MikeL!
Cool man. Well, I think I'll be staying in Minnieapolis. So, when its time to go to the show, me and my buddies will drive over to St. Pauls.
Dude, give me a number and maybe we can get together. I'm only gonna be there for the weekend. I'll be there Sat, Sun and a bit of Monday.

I'm going to the Chicago show on August 25th. I can't wait. I haven't seen them since the 83 Piece of Mind tour so I'm pumped!! As an aside WAIT till you guys see Rob Halford(the opener). He is going to blow you away!!! I got the chance to see a warm up concert in downstate IL this past weekend and it was a GREAT GREAT show. Add Queensryche to the bill and we should be in for a great evening of great music....

Rayban, did Halford do any Priest?? That would be kick ass if he did
Spanish Doctor
08.01.00, 05:20 AM
Halford has better play many Priest songs, most people who'll go to the show will be unfamiliar to his 90's solo work. Including myself.
I'm seeing them tomorrow evening! http://216.10.25.192/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

Halford DID do 4 Priest tunes, and 2 Fight tunes. I don't wan't to spoil it for anybody who wants to be surprised at the concert so I won't list the songs he did. They were CLASSIC!!

I'd love to hear Halford do Hell Bent For Leather. Tyrant and Stained Class are surprising choices; great songs, but not ones I would have expected.
