They were both written around the same time, and sort of give off the same kind of "attitude", to me. I really liked the direction the band was going in with Balance/Humans Being. Me Wise Magic continued that direction, but even better IMO. So, I'd go with Me Wise. Which one do you guys like better?

Me Wise Magic has much more to it than Humans Being. Musically HB is a good song but it just seems that Sammy was not very inspired for a melody line. I know this was due to the strife developing during the writing of this song so in that respect it just lacks.

Me Wise Magic is an incredible rocker.

Humans Being is awesome, for the solo alone. The "shine on" part is dope, great to sing along to at full volume with the top down.

Me Wise Magic, sounds great, but I only really like the part when Dave's talking about the buddhist riff or something. Those were great lyrics.

My take on it is he's saying how "Right now things might seem a little unclear. They might be downright confusing. But when you take your head out of your ass, you'll know that I was right all along. And once you get it you'll be content."

Obviously I'm not sure exactly what it means, but that's my take on it. He could be talking about a relationship or more obviously the aborted reunion with VH.

Both rock but MWM has my vote. Much better vocals and harmony.

I already forgot who posted it but I agree that the last 3 songs on BOV1 kick ass. I think Can't Get This Stuff No More is better than Me Wise Magic, and Humans Being is better than Can't Get This Stuff No More. And I'm a Dave fan! Humans Being was the best song VH did with Sammy. If you think about when it was recorded, when the band was on the verge of break-up #2, you can hear it in the music and the vocals. The guitar is amazing on that. The riff, the chorus, the solo, Al's drumming is set in fucking stone on this one, and Mike's bass is dirty and moody. I think it was the most structured song they made with Sammy. Me Wise Magic was really cool too, I like hearing Dave's low growl set to the vibe they had going. And Can't Get This Stuff No More, well, after the '96 implosion who out there didn't take the title of the song literally! LOL!

I'm with Seenbad, MWM made my jaw drop. I thought it was the best thing they had done in 15 years also, and I'm not a Sammybasher by any means..

MWM is my favorite Dave VH song ever, I just love to crank it up and jam out.

But Humans Being is just AWSOME, The fur on my arms rise every time I hear the chours.

If they(VH) go the direction of the last 3 songs on BOV 1 for the next album, then watch out, it will be huge.

Humans Being gets my vote by a nose.

Unless you don't have all the previous Van Halen albums, Humans Being, Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff No More, were probably the only reason to get BOV1. I'd Have to give the nod to MWM. An earlier post, wondered what Dave was sayin' in the song. I honestly think sometimes, folks read way too much into lyrics. Dave's stuff tend to be very abstract anyhow. He creates alot of imagery and you gotta fill in the blanks. It means different things to different people.

Humans bein', it's not even a contest

This is too close to call, MWM is incredible musicaly, but the lead vocals are so bad it hurts and on the other hand HB is a great tune musically, but other than the chorus the whole distorted vocal thing isn't VH. I will say MWM based on the fade out playing alone, by the ever so slightest of margins.

It's tough to pick one DLR song versus a SH song because they both have their good parts both with the guitar and vocals. However, I will have to go with Me Wise Magic if only to wonder about what else they could've come out with had they been able to record more songs. I was just happy to hear DLR with them again. I do think the solo on Humans Being is amazing and like that cranked also. As I said, a tough call from here.

Absolutely...Me Wise is one of my faves. Quite a few songs would not hold up against it. HB, however, is one of the elite that can.

Humans Being, why because I said so. Take that.

I'm still going with Humans Being. MWM is good, but HB is one of their best songs IMO.
