Ok mac, you screwed in the bar, but did you push it down after you hit a note? That's how it works. Basically you bring the arm up parallel to the strings and push in towards the body of the guitar. This in turn causes the bridge to pivot towards the neck, while dropping the tension on the strings. The result is lower notes because of the drop in tension. That's all there is too it. http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

do you screw the whammy bar until it is tight? i don't know how to play a note. my guitar isn't tuned either. i have no patience i almost did a pete townshend thing. funny enough i was just strumming my guitar and it sounded like "zombie" by
the CRANIBERRIES(sp).

Get yourself one of those "begineer videos " and a tuner. Then tune that som bitch up and lay off that whammy bar. That's the last thing you need to worry about.

I usually don't screw my bar in until it's tight. I like my bars to flop.

mac, take the freakin' bar off, you don't need it right now like everyone else has said. Just learn to play some first. Just as an FYI, I always have my whammy bars screwed all the way in, but I loosen the whammy bolt so they swing free. I hate when the bar pulls up too, like Eddie does.

Mac. I agree too. Get rid of the whammy bar. When you're learning it'll just get in your way. Concentrate on playing right now, the rest will come later, and don't be in too much of a rush or you'll get too frustrated and will probably put the instrument down for good. Right now you need patience more than a whammy bar.
