yeah its serious alright. Young and fired up!
Nightmares for the headlining acts, indeed. lol
Always great to see footage of the band from the late 70s. Wish there was more of it out there.

Nice little Hendrix tribute in there from about 1:35 to 2:15. Jimi would have been proud!!

Yeah, one of my friends saw them open for Black Sabbath Miami. Said they blew BS off the stage.
Cool, but I prefer the solo on LWAN.

Yeah, even Ozzy admits to this day that VH blew BS off the map.
Anyone know the source of that video.
In other words is there more of that show around? Kinda poor quality, but I would love to have that show on DVD. You can just feel the vibe on the intro to YRGM!!!!!!!!

Damn, wish I woulda been old enough to catch those shows of that 78-80 era. My first concert was '84 w/DLR, and I keep hearing that tour didn't hold up to the earlier shows. Whenever I see old footage like this, their vibe reminds me of early G n' R - just kick-ass, shove-it-down-your-throat, straight ahead rock n roll. Any of you who were fortunate enough to witness the mighty Van Halen in this era should feel very proud and fortunate. Eddie will always be king in my book.

I don't know if any of you guys have ever seen this, but it's the entire 1983 US Festival, it's by far the best concert footage I've ever seen

to this day, the pre '80 shows blow any other act off the stage.
i don't think we will see anything like that again.

Uhmmm... I think you mean pre 1985. I saw the 1982 tour and I can assure you it was Eddie on Fire!! He would run from one side of the stage to the other and slide on his knees. If you don't believe me, check out the LARGO 82' DVD. That show was shot 2 days after I saw them. It was Dave's birthday and they mashed a cake in his face on stage! It was total sonic bombast!!
It was my first concert...EVER!!

If I remember right, I think the story's the same on those videos as it is on the Oakland '81 videos. Some band members have said that only three songs were taped for promotion at each show. There's plenty of evidence to the contrary, however.

True that. Ozzy (and Sharon) knew his career had to evolve or it would die. You can thank Eddie for his part in that.

BTW - I saw VH in '79 (or was it '80? )in Houston on the II tour. Un-freaking-believable performance. Tight as tight could be.
I saw them again on the next two tours, but the road, drugs and egos had kicked in by then.

But we all know which band stood the best of time and which one didn't. Black Sabbath cameback to influence 90's bands.
