I think Vai's tone on Yankee Rose was weaker than EVH's on Good Enough. BUT, I would listen to Yankee Rose before Good Enough.

Yankee Rose by a mile, not trying to be a basher but IMO that is not even in the top half of songs off of 5150. There are songs on 5150 better than Yankee Rose, but Good Enough isn't it.

Always brings up to me what would have happened in Dave's solo career if he had left Ted Templeman in charge of producing instead of him doing it himself on Skyscraper. Sheehan probably would not have left the band, and who knows what the future could have held.

Those songs on Dave's album always sound thin to me...especially the guitar and drums. They don't even sound as big as old VH albums. The songs were good, but they sounded like a cheesy form of VH. Had VH done those first two or three solo albums of Dave's they would have kicked major ass.

I've always preferred Good Enough. Yankee Rose has just never done anything for me.

If I was asked this question 20 yrs ago it would have been Yankee Rose easy. These days I would pick Good Enough , that said with the exception of of Summer Nights,5150 & Good Enough I prefer Eat Em Smile. Really? I don't think Yankee Rose is anywhere near the best Dave solo tune, maybe his most well known, but in my humble opinion his deep tracks are much better than the songs he has decided to release.

I'd say Good Enough..I liked Yankee Rose alot when it came out but I really have no desire to listen to it these days..I still dig EEAS but there are other tracks on that cd that grab me. I've been blasting good enough for the last couple of weeks..
