Hey All,

I was just watching a music story on CNN, where they were talking about how much input producers have in music today (referring to producers overproducing these pop bands and implementing talent, where there really isn't any).

Among others, they interviewed Glen Ballard - who stated his opinions about the topic, spoke about Alanis Morrisette and after asked who he was working with, he mentioned that he will be going into the studio with Sammy Hagar, Madonna, INXS and The Black Crowes.

Whattabout Mickey Dolenz?? :D

I remember in one ol' mag, there was a pic of the guys in the studio. Edward had a big ol' smile on his face, and the caption was that Mickey Dolenz would be producing VH's next album.

Thought that was funny at the time. :sssh:

And I guess the producer for VH is who? The vinter maker for "Smoking Loon"?? Once again...at least somebody is making music. Good for Sammy. Hell DAVE does more than Eddie and Alex.

It just seems funny to me that Sammy is "taking" the most recent producer of Van Halen with him. Makes you wonder if Glen actually got along better with Sammy - than he did with the bros. I know it's a matter of money and if you pay my fee, I will produce your album - but none the less.

Anyway, Glen is a fantastic producer and hopefully he will up the production quality on Sammy Hagar's recent solo albums - which have been extremely lacking with Sammy producing them. For VH - production wise, they never sounded better than what Glen did for them with Dave and Sam in my opinion...despite the quality of the actual songs lyrically.

I like Glen Ballard's work on the VH songs. This should be a pretty good sounding album.

and glenn did the two roth songs for the best of from way back when....producing one of the best van halen songs (me wise magic). however, a couple of notches come of his production mystic for allowing his engineer to hit record on "up for breakfast".

No way would Sammy hire Glenn Ballard to produce one of his solo albums. Nope. No way.

This is most likely Ballard telling a half-truth. Sam and Ed are secretly writing for a new Van Halen album that Ballard is producing. It's so obvious!

I'm off to find another pot to stir.

It was Creem magazine, required reading if you were a rock fan in the '70s and '80s. They did a couple of VH special issues as well. Those were the days. Ed did look kind of like Micky in that picture - they always had wise-ass captions for their photos. :D

Great for Sam. VH should hire Rick Rubin to produce their next CD.
