It is time to start preparing for Fantasy Baseball 2005. The league we had last year was a lot of fun and we will continue to have it! I hope more people will get involved in Fantasy Baseball here and maybe the Links will have a few leagues.
For the managers that were in my league last year: Remember most of us agreed on a 3 man keeper league. 1 hitter, 1 pitcher and whoever else you choose. I have last years rosters of the people that will be in the league this year in case you forgot who you had. I will have the site going by tomorrow afternoon and will post more info HERE!
I will do everything in my power to have the draft as close to opening day as possible, in case A-Rod gets his nuts chopped off by Trot Nixon :D etc...
The managers that will be returning (a few are open for newbies) are: Hawks, Miller Lite Drinkers, Billy's Barracuda's, No Homers Club, Harvey's Headbangers, Isotopes, BloomCounty Boingers, Northside Mullets. If someone doesn't join for whatever reason, then we will have a new team take their place, if you were in the league last year and your name was not listed, it means you didn't do shit except draft players and then sat all year doing nothing.
Anyway, the more leagues from here the better.

Hey bro BREW CREW, you can count me in again! Miller Lite Drinkers will be in full effect for some crazed, drunken, ball bashin, steroid slammin season. I am having trouble remembering my whole lineup from last year...and deciding on my "keepers" .......I think Tejada, Boone, Derek Lee, B. Giles might be my thoughts for the keepers...and Benitez, Dotel are the only pitchers I can remember.
Can you email my pithers BREW so I can decide? If new players join the league this year we have to find a way to display a DO NOT DRAFT list.

I think we all agreed if we do not want to keep 3, we could keep up to 3 or none...then you could draft from the "pot", of course, just as long as it is not someones keeper. BUT, if you keep 3 it must be 1 hitter and 1 pitcher and then anybody else. It's all coming back to me now ;)
AND one rule: if you keep someone from your roster of last year, you must pick them first in the draft.
Will this thread be used for General Fantasy Baseball talk throughout the season, or is it just be used for Brew Crew's league stuff??

So far I think it's just me, you and billy that have joined...My first post shows the returning managers team names, as far as user names that they are/were here before the hack, I do not know all of them. I do have e-mail adresses of 2 of the managers that I have not seen here in a while, which I will be e-mailing soon.
It is still early and I have had a few P.M.'s of new managers that want in. I do have the rosters of everyone that were active managers, so I do not have yours, sorry :( . BUT, you can pick from the players that are not kept.
A couple of names that pop in my head are: Hellohawk, Miah, Billy, You, Shut up and Play yer Guitar, the other 2 buddies of mine that are fantasy baseball freaks, and the new guys, so far it looks like their will be 2 or 3 new managers. But, I would think it is cool if someone else starts a league just like ours and we could trash talk and compare notes etc.... :)

OK, Hellohawk is in, there are 2 spots that should be filled by Monday. One guy wants in, but is hesitating because he doesn't know if he can be at the live draft....Monday is my deadline for him.
I have decided not to have keepers THIS year, but I plan on doing the keeper thing next year, so if you change your strategy a little due to this change, I gave you plenty of time to do it.
Miah: the REAL Isotopes wants his name back...haha!
FYI: the guys that I have been in baseball fantasy leagues with for a looong time are: the REAL Isotopes and the Southside hitmen. My brother "Miller Lite Drinkers is Shut up and play yer guitar here. All are very good fantasy managers and they play to win...let's make this league a bitch to win and have fun doing so! OK, since I missed the draft last year (and hopefully won't miss it this year), how does it work? How do you know who has picked whom, and when it's your turn to pick, how much time you have to make a pick, etc.?

The draft order is randomly set a few minutes before draft time...be about 10 minutes early to see the order. Round 1 is 1-12, Round 2 is 12-1 and so on. Queue (sp?) your players so you have a few to pick from. It is real easy to see who you have drafted by position: It is all broken down by position and players you've drafted.
how much time you have to make a pick 2 minutes...but usually no one needs that much time, the live draft usually takes no more than 45 minutes to an hour.
How do you know who has picked whom, and when it's your turn to pick
There are 2 ways to see players that are available: your pre-ranked players and all players by position (yahoo rankings). If the player is drafted, that players name will not be highlighted, and will not show up on your queue list. It sucks when a player is on your queue list just before your turn to pick and then he disappears because that damn guy in front of you took him:irked: .
Still have 3 more spots open in my Yahoo league. Any of you guys want in at the last-minute?

I have had quite a few other linkers ask about fantasy baseball that are not in my league. I think it would be cool to have 2 leagues or more if THAT many people want to play. Scotty5150 has a league, I don't know if it is full though. Someone step up and create another league and we can all brag about our teams/leagues etc....
My league was drafted last week, unfortunately. I was hoping to get some more of you Linkers in there, but only one expressed interest in joining before the draft. I'd be interested in a second league if enough folks were interested.

After you put a player on your DL, you can pick up any free agent...THEN when you play your guy that was on the DL, you have to drop any player on your roster. To put a guy on the DL, he must have the DL tag next to his name. You didn't know this?

How's everybody doing with their teams out there? I was going to come here and offer up Phil Nevin for trade as he seems to have decent stats but I don't have a lot of opportunities for him to be off the bench, but now he's having back spasms so I don't know if anyone would take a chance on him. One of my pitchers has one more piss-ass start before he's on the waiver wire though...
My team coughed up a healthy score over the past two days and I'm a little irritated!
My Team SUCKS ASS!!!

2 weeks to go until playoff time!!! 5th place thru 8th place are battling for the 6th or better spot to get in to the playoffs. Should be an interesting couple of weeks. Some things to note: Billy and Olo are playing each other and OLO's team has been pretty solid lately, so watch out Billy! I am playing TenaciousD and we are neck and neck as far as our record and we have a pretty similar team.
OLO: you still have a chance if Billy lays off and lets you beat him up real bad.:D

Actually Brew.... I am the "No Homers" team. I can't believe we finished tied either. "Shut up....." did deserve the 1st seed for how many weeks he led. However, I WILL take comfort in the fact that I do believe I beat him head-to-head both times this season!

Carpenter has been saving me; making up for all those blown saves and huge ERA from stupid Mesa.
The final 4 is set!!! I don't think I have enough offense to repeat. Teixeira makes me nervous.
Well.... I BARELY got past the Reigning Champs. That was CLOSE! My complete game and shutout by Pedro (I believe) is what allowed me to get through. Sometimes those wildcard catagories can help, sometimes hurt.
Anyway, good luck MLD, I'm not going to make it easy on you (even though my team seems to be ;) ). I may be over-managing just like a guy I'm not to fond of - Tony Larussa. I sit guys and they have a great game. :(
DON'T FORGET --- This last round is TWO weeks..... not the normal 1.

Well, I led the first week..now I'm pissing it away!!! NoHOmers guys are getting hot at the right time, while mine are taking a huge crap. All I can hope for is a complete game shutout from Willis or Oswalt to even have a chance....so Congrats in advance NoHomers, you won the marathon!

Not necessarily bro. You two are close in 3 categories and if you win the categories that he is winning, then he loses that point and you gain a point. It could very well end up in a tie or a 1 point game either way. Lot's of assumptions and luck.
Good luck to ya both. It was a long season, and a very fun time battling just for a playoff spot.

Let me know for next year if we need another player. I have someone who actually pays attention and will fill in this league nicely.
On to the playoffs! I'm cheering for Houston. Be good to see Bags and Biggio get a ring.

Weird thing for me was my inability to beat the Tenacious Sluggers - lost to 'em three time! 10-26! Also lost to Miller Lite Drinkers (5-20) both times I faced them, but they did finish a little higher in the standings than me, so I don't feel as nonplussed about that. Oh well - already have my first bit of strategy in mind for next year - NO SAMMY!
