If you want to compare albums, then compare this one. It's a toughie for a lot of people out there and there are some who probably haven't heard FW, so they'll say Van Halen by default. I don't what to say, I think I'll go with...... today is Tuesday, so I'll say Van Halen. More tracks and I love every song on there except Atomic Punk. While FW has 9 tracks and I love all of them except for Push Comes to Shove. Today, for me, Van Halen wins.

If you're right, and there are people who haven't heard Fair Warning, my advice to them is to RUN to the record store and get it immediately. I hear you Mr. Unchained, these kind of things change day to day. But for me, I think it will always be Fair Warning at the top of the heap. Neither album has a bad song, but Fair Warning just speaks to me a bit more. I guess most days I'd put 1984 ahead of VH 1 too, just because 1984 was the album and year that I got into VH.

With the name UNCHAINED I thought I could know your answer before reading it . http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif , Fuck man this is a tough one . Can't do it dude , sorry .

My reason for comparing 3 to DIVER DOWN is because people seem to say these are the weakest of albums .

Oh fuck it man Van Halen 1978 wins for me , but ask me later I might change my mind from day to day .

Van Halen, hands down.

Fair Warning is an excellent album, but it doesn't approach the same "classic" level that this album has.

But hey, that's a lot closer thann comparing (IMHO) something like 5150 to WACF...

It's my two favorites, and I can't choose a favorite between the two. Whichever I prefer is the one I want to listen at any given moment.

Van Halen hands down. More songs and better songs! Ed rocks on the album and Dave really shines as a character and a vocalist!

Ed, like I said, it's Tuesday. It's always a toss up between FW, Van Halen and 5150. I never know what albums is going to be my favorite. Actually today, I have been listening to bootlegs and VH2 but I did listem to a little of VH. Tomorrow, I'll probably say FW. I never know for sure. FW is so.... PIMP ASS BAD. And VH is.... CLASSIC, AND ON THE SCRILL. I never know....

Hmmmmm. Let's see. Awesome guitar sound verses a cd with no songs under the ranking of decent. Well I'll have to go with Fair Warning. Mean Street an Unchained are two of my favorite songs. So FW wins by a nose

Hey Mr. Unchained, this dude stole BOTH our names! http://www.vhlinks.com/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif Just kidding Unchained Wolfie. Anyway, a true battle of the titans: VH1 vs. FW. I guess it had to happen sooner of later. Like most classic VH lovers, this one is probably the toughest pick. I'm also gonna have to say that it really does depend on the day, my mood, or whatever you want to call it. Both albums just kick so much ass, it's impossible for me to choose an absolute favorite out of the two. Overall though, I guess VH1 would eek it out for me most of the time.

Fair Warning. I love VH 1 but that's basically a guitar album. Fair warning is a band album. The bass and drums can actually be heard on it (lol). Yes it does only have nine songs, but the album is like one complete thought from Mean Street to One Foot Out The Door. VH 1 is an album of great songs that don't fall into any one category. Mr. Unchained describes Fair Warning best. PIMP ASS BAD.

Today is Thursday and the first day that it's been relatively sunny and getting warm, so I popped in 1984. Can't say why beyond the fact that I looked across the car and the CD was tucked into the door and it caught my eye. But I was huntin Halen when I left the house.

That's why I love those guys, there's just something for every mood you may be in. A nice sunny day with the windows wide open, you want something light to sing along with, Diver Down is there. Getting into my Z28 and rumbling down the road, I crank Runnin With the Devil baby! Fair Warning and WACF just kick ass and 1984 is gritty hard rock (minus Jump and I'll Wait).

For me, it will always be Fair Warning! Sinner's Swing is my all time favorite VH song, I just decided that today. I still love the first VH album. But Fair Warning, for me ,comes before any other.

Fair Warning, a darker album, displays some of Eddie's greatest guitar work ever, but Van Halen had more hits.

I'll say Fair Warning, not by much though.

Dan Halen, VH1 has better guitar work, IMO. But that's just my useless opinionhttp://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/biggrin.gif It did have more hits too. It's my favorite CD, especially I'm The One and Atomic Punk. Those are about his greatest guitar solos ever. http://208.50.7.95/vhlforum/smilies/smile.gif

i gotta say that it's van halen for me. so tough, fw is my second choice easy. they are really tough, and i agree with the guitar album vs. whole band album idea, but to me, vh just rocks more. someone mentioned that atomic punk and i'm the one are ed's best solos. well, i say that sinners swing is his best solo (not my fave though). in fact, sinners swing isn't my fave song, not by a long shot.
but anyway, it's vh for me.

This is a tough one but I'm going to have to say VH1 by a slim margin. It's the one that started it all and there are just so many classics on it.

Well I got into Vh on VH1 and it changed the way rock and roll was done..It also bread a new generation of great guitar players..BUT Fair Warning is a different story. This cd has a rawness to it and it is a guitar players cd!! My fav is Fair Warning and IMO it is their best ever!!
