Keep rockin bro!

It's great seeing stuff from VH for the first time that you never knew was out there.

Lemme re-phrase...stuff from Gary and Ed.

Yes.. I saw it yesterday when I was browsing Youtube.com for Van Halen vids.
Didn't like it.. however.. there's also a version of "Right Now" with Gary

And "Why can't this be love".. he pulled that job of good IMO

I spent some time watching some vids from Balance. Man, Ed and all the gang looked like they were in the best times of their lives then. Ed looked great. Miss those days...

But they weren't as confirmed by Sam's book. Ed was in constant pain from his hip, and tensions in the band were running high. I agree...the shows I saw for Balance, and even the Toronto show show a great, tight band...but I think they really put on a happy face...

Call me a fag if you like, but that as awesome.

I love hearing Ed play without any distortion like that. Sounded like maybe a touch of reverb or delay, but mainly just his guitar into the board....anyone agree or disagree.

Ed's guitar does sound great! I believe he has a piezo equipped bridge going on there, generating an excellent acustic sound for an electric.

In '98 when I went up to Boston to see VH, they did 2 encores and at the beginning of the 2nd one Eddie walked out with an acoustic guitar and I thought 'Shit!! This should be interesting, I've never seen Eddie play acoustic at a concert before.' Then Eddie told the crowd, "whaddaya want, it's his hometown" as he pointed to Gary. And they proceeded to play Josephina--kind of a letdown, since all these other songs were going through my head when I saw the guitar.
And then after the show my friends and I left and went to a bar where I met the girl that Gary went to the prom with. She showed us all these pictures of them at the prom and stuff. A little later on, I made out with her for a while in that bar, only felt her up a little. She gave me her number but I never called. She seemed kind of stuck-up. Oh well, what were we talking about? Oh yeah! Josephina, cool tune. Brings back memories.

I agree-- and I WOKE up for this (LAUGH!)... I think it's amazing that even with out his "brown sound", Ed's playing is instantly recognizable. Just close your eyes with this video playing-- I did, because I couldn't stand looking at Gary's little bleach-blond "doo" (WTF?!?)...

That sounded cool as hell. I love the riff that Ed pulls off at the end of the song. :D

Thanks for posting that link. That was pretty neat to see.

I liked hearing that song on the III tour. Something a little mellow.

I'm one of the people that gave Gary a chance, and I do enjoy VH3. However, why did Ed have Gary singing so damn high? Go listen to Extemes Three Sides to Every Story...On that album, Gary's voice is awesome. I only wish he had sung like that on 3, and tourings....instead of trying to get a similar sound to sammy.

just my thoughts

Best quote heard, was when some guitar magazine interviewed Nuno, while VH was recording 3. He said something like, music sounds great, but they've got Gary screaming his lungs offs to sound like sam. Does anyone remember the exact quote?

Son of a .........!!!

That was really cool. Good song, but I just never cared for the theme of the lyrics. I don't wanna hear someone singing about their mom. Sorry.

Gary: Dying your hair blonde. Way too obvious of a move. It reeks of desperation to be liked, which is unappealing.

Where was this filmed? Was it at an actual concert ? It almost looked like a late night TV talk show thing.

Eddie was ON top of his instrument. He was having a good time too, no doubt.

That was brutal. I'll never get back those three minutes either. :yell:

However, once i clicked on the Humans Being link? all was well again. :thumb:

I actually like this song a lot. I don't care what anyone says. Eddie rocks on this, and Gary doesn't really strain.

gary got about the same fair shake that dlr is getting with his radio show... both maybe got a rough start, but were not given enough time to flesh out their vision... hopefully dlr is able to stick around a little longer on the radio, but they got rid of virtually his entire morning crew...

sorry to get off topic... i was a huge extreme fan before he joined vh... there was a rumor post on melodicrock.com not too long ago that a reunion tour may be in the works... i saw his tribe of judah project in nyc a couple of years ago, and he played one of the '3' ballads (can't remember which one), but not the single...

One of my favorite boots. This is from a Japanese talk/morning show.

EXCELLENT guitar work and crisp flawless picking in a sit-down setting. Ed can handle anything.

Sort of the Un-plugged thing we all would have liked to have seen back in the day stateside live in front of our naked steaming eyes

Ed's playing was awesome...really enjoyed it. He has such good a touch when he wants to.

I'd take another VH3 album over nothing any day.

Wow thats an amazing find. I have seen most VH3 boots/pics and heard most VH3 bootlegs but I have never seen this.

Eddies guitar just sounds fantastic and Garys vocals are spot on. This must be from the end of the Van Halen 3 Tour when they were in Japan doing the last shows. Kinda sad to think that this could be one of the last times Van Halen appeared with Cherone.

Now all we need is the holy grail of Van Halen 3 Video Bootlegs.....the rest of the setlist from the Nuremburg Rock AM Park (or whatever its called)

I know its out there! If they filmed 3 songs they filmed the rest! Where are they!??? MTV answer me!

Even though I wasn't much of a fan of VHIII, I have to say Eddie played well on that album and tour.

when I see this I kinda laugh a little, not at the performance but I remember Ed saying "at least he's not just some blond hood orniment" and then a few months later GAry shows up with blond hair. Might be a seperate issue but when I see this that's what I think of.

I've got the entire Sydney show video. It's an awesome show, although short, only 12 tunes. By the way, I think Gary did an amazing job of Why Can't This Be Love.

Like it or not Ed's playing was never better than that era. The guy was invigorated and focused and taking his playing to different levels. Cool video, Ed was dialed in for sure.

That was really good. Have to say that was the first time Ive seen Eddie play guitar with a clean crisp tone. I really wish there would have been more music from that time. Gary sounded very good and relaxed. I think that is one of the last few performances with Gary since its in Japan at the end of the tour. I really enjoy VHIII :thumb:

If I was Gary I'd be  at the idea of sitting on the stage just 2 guys with an acoustic ala "More than Words".
