View Full Version : What DLR solo song should VH play?

AVH Blues

Yankee Rose and new version California Girls could work, though not truly a DLR song.

None...they Ed, Al, and Dave keep saying it's Van Halen...so play VH music....but if I had to choose.....Yankee Rose I guess....

The songs VH played with Sammy were recorded before Sammy joined VH in 1986....if that makes any difference...I don't know....

The odds o some of Dave's solo stuff being performed are about as good as some of my solo stuff being performed.

chances of them playing a dave solo song on this tour are slim to none... dave's early hits are a reminder of him leaving the band, so i don't think that they'll go there... ed could nail yankee rose... and dave maybe doing a solo acoustic version of damn good times (exact title?) would be great... and fitting...

I agree.

Just speaking for myself, i think you can be a fan of CVH and not dig Dave's solo stuff.

I'm living proof.

I don't think Ed has the requisite enthusiasm the learn Roth solo material.

None.

On this tour there is a finite amount of time to play as many CVH songs as possible. As it is, there will be songs omitted from the set that will dissapoint some. Why would anyone want to omit even more songs than necessary by:

1. Doing any Sammy era stuff.
2. Playing any Dave solo tunes
3. Having a bass/drum/Dave solo spot
4. Having Ed perform another 15 minute solo spot. Trim that one up.

Let's squeeze as many CVH tunes in as possible. This is probably the one and only time we'll get to hear them.

In lieu of the six pack, none, naturally...

But if I had to choose, I would like to hear "It's Showtime".

It screams of classic VH...

Either Yankee Rose or Tobacco Road but I doubt that's happening. I'd love to hear a few "lesser known" CVH songs.

But if they were to choose one for the sake of arguement I wouldn't mind hearing Ed's interpretation of "Yankee Rose". But I think the best choice would be "Tobacco Road" even though it's not really a DLR song.

I seriously doubt Eddie would be able to handle playing that intro.

I think Ed's renditions of "Yankee Rose" or "Just Like Paradise" would be an awesome thing. Those songs provide a close sound to what VH would have sounded like in 1986 if DLH would not have left the band.

I think Ed could also do some justice to:

(in random order)
My Machine
Drop in the Bucket [ESPECIALLY this one]
Lil Aint Enough

I've always been partial to the campy "Just A Gigalo". Good Video too.

But I really don't expect to see any solo material.

ALL I WANT TO HEAR IS CVH ! ! ! !

I guess it's up to Wolfie, since he apparently picked the setlist.
I was wondering about this myself.
I'd love to see "Lil' ain't enough"... but I'm not expecting it.

Big Trouble or Damn Good Times.

They should start the show with a video montage with Damn Good Times being played similar to the youtube clip...

Then have Ed start the show with his solo spot.

Then play 25 songs.

Well, I don't know what they'll do to open, but I hope you're not holding your breath for the ol' "splits off the drum riser" from Dave to kick things off. :smokin:

you know he's going to attempt that at some point, but most likely during jump, which would most likely be the closer...

dave's replacement was a solo artist so they did a couple of his tunes
(sad fact, eddie has played 55 more times than HFT in the last 20 yrs.)

i think even dave's answer to this would be that classic vh songs ARE
his songs

i'm tired of hearing other people sing panama
and not hearing HFT, DTNA, etc. ever!!!!

having said that, yankee rose would be interesting

Maybe 'Hole in My Heart' by Extreme or whatever the song was to salute Van Cherone.
