I've recently stumbled on a few DLR solo shows from the past summer on line here. Does anyone here have these shows and if so, what do you think of them? Is the sound pretty good? What can I do to get a copy? I haven't traded for any of the boots I have now, but would be willing to do that if someone shows me how to take those "baby steps".

I own the following on CD-R:

-"Magically Delicious" Amsterdam 1999
-"Dallas, Texas 1999"
-"Hot For Bettie" N. Carolina 1999
-"Mean Streets of Philadelphia" Philly 1999

On cassette, straight from the master:

-"San Diego 1999" San Diego State University 1999

They're all pretty good, though none are soundboard. The "Dallas" gig has 2 extra cuts at the end as bonus tracks, and they're soundboard. You also get to hear how bad Dave's voice sounded at that time. Simply put, he sounds horrid. But, as the tour went on, his voice did improve.

You just have to ask around and see if anyone would be willing to burn copies for you. Either offer up what you have in trade, or send someone blank CD-R's as replacements for what they'll use when making you your own copies.

DLR in Amsterdam 99:

Runnin with the Devil
Eruption
You Really Got Me
So This is Love?
Mean Street
Yankee Rose
Ice Cream Man
Atomic Punlk
Little Dreamer
Pretty Woman
Dance the Night Away
Spanish Fly
Tobacco Road
Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
Drum Solo*
Unchained
Everybody Wants Some
Jump

*This is actually Mike's bass solo from a VH gig, circa 1984, judging by the synthesizer intro that sounds vaguely familiar to "1984". This is not a drum solo. You can hear the obvious difference in audio quality between this track and the rest of the DLR gig. Heh...it also doesn't help matters much hearing Dave himself say "Ladies and gentlemen...Michael Anthony!!!"

thanks a ton for your effort IRT the
amsterdam 99 setlist.

some other questions . . .

(1) of the four CD-Rs you mention, which
is the overall best boot (in terms of
setlist, audio quality, etc.)?

(2) which do not include "unchained"?

thanks again.

1. Amsterdam '99 has the most songs, in terms of set list. They're all audience recordings.

-"Magically Delicious": EX audience recording, and the best set list out of all 4 I listed.

-"Hot For Bettie!": Outstanding audience recording. Easily the best sounding disc out of the four. But, beware! There are people advertising this disc on auction sites as a "pure soundboard recording". It's not. I've been dealing with bootlegs for close to 11 years, and I know an audience recording when I hear it.

-"Dallas '99": Good audience recording. There are 2 extra tracks from Finland at the end of the disc. These are 100% soundboard, and unfortunately, you can hear how awful Dave sounds. I just sat there shaking my head in disbelief.

-"Mean Streets of Philadelphia": Good audience recording, but just slight too much treble, and a hair of distortion. Other than that, very good.

2. All the discs I mentioned above contain "Unchained".

Hope this helps!

thanks for the reply.

any tips on said sites, or how to reach
them ? feel free to send feedback to
usna1995@hotmail.com, if you chose to
respond.

if not, would be willing to trade some

I don't have any available sites, sorry. And if you want to send me your list, feel free. The only downside to me trading is that I am unable to burn anything onto CD-R. I don't have a burner. I own a MD player/recorder, and that's how I do all of my trades.

Sorry 'bout that!

A new DLR boot has made it into my CD collection tonight. It's called "The Best of Diamond David Lee Roth". It was recorded in Washington, D.C. 29 June 1999. It's an outstanding audience recording, from the first few rows at least. The audio is perfect, and it's even better than "Hot For Bettie".

Setlist:

-Hot For Teacher
-Panama
-Little Guitars
-Slam Dunk
-Mean Street
-Runnin' with the Devil
-Eruption
-You Really Got Me
-So This is Love?
-Yankee Rose
-Tobacco Road
-Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
-Unchained
-Jump

Mine has a serial number of "015" on it, and it's part of a limited edition, though the exact number made isn't given. If you find it, buy it.

I've been looking for a recording of the DLR show from San Diego 1999. My preference is for CDRs, but I would be happy to trade for a cassette copy and then make my own CDR out of it (there are other trade options, too). I have TONS of classic VH and DLR to trade (nearly all on CDR). Check out my web page at http://go.to/MyList and let me know what you want. THANKS!

p.s. even those in the military should be able to get a free email account for staying in touch somewhere, there are a lot of free email providers compared at http://www.emailaddresses.com

There are two digital audience recordings that I am aware of frm DLR's 1999-2000 tour. I think both were recorded from close up using Mini-Disc recorders. The first is Hot For Bettie (NC 6/23/99) and it sounds pretty damn good, the other is Slots and Sluts (NJ 9/24/99). IMO the New Jersey recording is a lot better.

I have the DC recording from MP3s, and wasn't that impressed, but I would be interested in trading for your version. Check my trade page at http://go.to/MyList and let me know what you're interested in, and if you have heard the New Jersey show.

Thanks!
