What do you guys think? I personally would say DLR Band.

BTW...I have always wondered...What is the deal with Crazy From the Heat, why only four songs, mostly covers? Was Dave just doing this as a marketing tool while he was looking for a band?

Not counting CFTH (an EP), I would have to say Your Filthy Little Mouth. Compared to all of his other solo work it's not as good.

Crazy from tha heat?..sunstroke probably.
He's been trying to get back in the band ever since....
Dave said at the time when asked that very question:
"Why only 4 songs"
DLR's reply....

"Well most of your favourite albums only have 2 maybe 3 good songs on it..4 at best, the rest is usually bullshit.
So what I did was I eliminated the Bullshit and sold it to 'ya for less.. smilies/biggrin.gif smilies/devil.gif

Warner/Reprise has made it difficult for me to get Your Filthy Little Mouth, so I can't judge that. Out of the others, my least favourite is DLR Band, though it's still growing on me.

If you're not including EPs, YFLM is my pick for worst solo album.

DLR was still in VH when he did the CFTH EP, I think its fair to say he was testing the water for a solo career.

Either DLR Band or Your Filthy Little Mouth.

I have never hear YFLM, but I have heard all the others, and DLR Band is the worst out of all of them.

If I had to buy them all over again, DLR Band would be the very last one in the cart.

CFTH was supposed to be just a little side project until Eddie pulled his face from the toilet long enough to record some music. Those were tunes Dave never envisioned doing with VH, and he never thought that EP would sell like it did either.

I could never pick because each of his solo efforts have good and bad on them.

I might be in a minority here, but YFLM is one of my favs. Certainly the song is killer. Guitar work was excellent. IMO !

My pick is definitely DLR band. I dunno, it just didn't hit me the right way. The tour totally rocked though...

You really believe that?!!!?

Yup. Eddie was on the physically unable to perform list during those days.

I'd definitely say YFLM is his worst solo effort...and "effort" is a stretch here. This one sounds like Dave was trying to gear up for the "Vegas Variety Hour", but he forgot to toss in a little substance with the sizzle. I think he even forgot the sizzle...it was more like a simmer. smilies/biggrin.gif

BTW, if you're having trouble finding solo DLR cd's, I'd suggest checking out your local used CD shop or E-bay. I'd bet you can strike gold without having to pay a whole lot for it.

That's easy "You're Filthy Little Mouth" by far and away.

As for DLR Band: I LIKED that album! Dunno why so many thrash it.

You're right BC--most of those trashing DLR Band at least put the disclaimer they haven't heard YFLM yet. They'll change their mind if it ever comes out again.

The worst thing Dave did on that was to put a New York City (whatever) remix, of You're Breathin' It. smilies/confused.gif That makes 2versions of the worst song on the album.

The B-side to She's My Machine (Mississippi Power) is a great song, and obviously should've been left on the album!

"Your Filthy Little Mouth" and "DLR Band" were equally horrible to me, although there are a few tracks I really like off DLR Band.

Speaking for myself, I'm not thrashing/trashing DLR Band - just my least favourite out of Dave's solo stuff. Anytime you rank stuff, unless you tie everything, gotta be a first and gotta be a last! But last in this case doesn't mean bad - just not as good!

I would have to say DLR Band is my least favorite. There are only three tracks I really like on it, Slam Dunk, Tight and Black Sand. I also don't like the production and Dave's voice sounds weak on it to me, compared to his earlier albums.

Gotta go with YFLM. This disc is horrible. DLR band is a close 2nd, Dave became a caricature of himself on that.

Although the lyrics on YFLM are great, the tunes are lacking, and it's overproduced so much that it ain't rockin'...

DLRBand on the other hand, is rockin' but the production is too samey, too meat & potatoes. Now with Classic VH you can get away with that simple sound 'cos of the chemistry, but with the DLRBand it just ain't right. Theres' like 7 or 8 great tunes on there though...

Hmmmm. I'm so lame, that normally I'd go for a tie, but instead I'll toss a coin and say YFLM... That remix man, what a gyp smilies/mad.gif

IMO, I think YFLM was Dave's worst. It was his VHIII of his solo career. He tried to sing to songs that weren't Rock and Roll. I'm not saying they were horrible but for my taste, it wasn't vintage DLR.

I like DLR band apparently a lot more then some people here. Having said that, I WILL admit that the Production on DLR Band CD is AWFUL. Very weak sounding production!

Well, haven't heard the bad stuff off YFLM yet...I just heard the decent stuff on "The Best." I think DLR Band is my least favorite of all the other albums, though. I don't know what people are talking about...Dave's voice was a mess on that CD. "Relentless" is really annoying and there's another one I cannot recall where I really can't stand his voice. Glad Dave is ditching the AC/DC style voice, because it was weak, annoying, and it made him sound like he was kicked in the nuts smilies/biggrin.gif . I do love the instrumental parts of all the songs, however, and some of the songs were just cool. Dave sounded decent on a few of them like "Little Texas," but he still sang way out of his original range. I don't know what happened, but singing the old Van Halen tunes is working in the right direction for his voice. It's getting increasingly better smilies/smile.gif
