FILTER frontman Richard Patrick and former DAVID LEE ROTH drummer Ray Luzier have isused separate statements via their official web sites regarding their new collaboration, ARMY OF ANYONE, which also features former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS members Dean (guitar) and his brother Robert DeLeo (bass). Read on:

Richard Patrick: "Over a year ago, I had the opportunity to work with longtime friends and dynamic songwriters Robert and Dean DeLeo, so I jumped at it. We wrote a song together called 'A Better Place', which was so compelling that I knew I had to be in a band with them.

"Although I was at the end of demoing the fourth FILTER record, I was intrigued to find out what would happen if we continued writing together.

"What developed was a slew of incredible material, which will be featured on the debut album from ARMY OF ANYONE, produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin of 'The Wall' [PINK FLOYD] fame.

"I hope that fans of both FILTER and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will be as ecstatic about the music as I am. Although it is not the album you were expecting from me, I’m confident that you’ll be very pleased with the result. FILTER will always be close to my heart, but ARMY OF ANYONE is my priority right now.

"ARMY OF ANYONE is guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, and powerhouse drummer Ray Luzier, as well as myself on vocals.

"The as-yet-untitled album will be released on Columbia Records in early 2006."

Ray Luzier: "As some of you know, I left the DAVID LEE ROTH BAND a few months ago to join an amazing new band with Robert and Dean DeLeo (STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) and Richard Patrick (FILTER). Being a huge fan of both bands, you can imagine how honored and pleased I am to work and create music with them. I've been dreaming of being in a band like this for years... I can't wait for everyone to hear these songs! We are in the studio now with legendary producer Bob Ezrin.

"I had a great eight years with the DAVID LEE ROTH BAND and would personally like to thank all of you for coming to the shows and for all the support. I hope you all check out the debut ARMY OF ANYONE record, it will be out in early 2006... I know you'll be more than pleased!"

Those two guys sure know how to write a song. Filter were an amazing band too. This is going to be good.

If any rock artist or group needs a drummer, Kenny Aronoff always comes to mind for me. Great work filling in for Cinderella in the early nineties, Alice Cooper's Dragontown album and I think he also worked with Glenn Hughes and Tony Iommi recently, on Iommi's Fused album. Just thought I'd mention him for the hell of it, I know Roth's got a new drummer.

Ray Luzier is a class act and a great musician. Pat Torpey is a good drummer and he'll do fine with Roth.

I hope the band does well commercially for Ray, that guy deserves to be set for life. I bet he'd still do drum clinics though!
