Anybody else out there going through the blues of missing college football?? I'm so excited for the upcoming season...I think the championship (sorry to say) is USC's to lose....Leinart will do nothing but solidify his #1 status in the next NFL draft.

I'm just hoping mobilehoma's spring results carry over into the reg season, since Thompson, Bomar and Grady all looked awful!! :thumb:
I'm tired of getting branded by these guys?!?!?!?!?!!!

HOOK EM!!

Yeah so is that Big 12. What was that score again of that national championship game? Please don't make us spank your sad conference again. :p

Oregon St. gave us more of a game than Choklahoma.

Hey I was jumpin around loving it just as much as you was...but let's face it, if USC plays UT this year the only thing USC defenders will see is the back of this racing towards the end zone..

:wtf: ummm from which year?? Big Ten, Big XII, and the SEC are far superior. USC will be the only team keeping that conference a float this year for sure.

From the way I understand it, it allows for a 12th game in the season but still no playoff...which basically it'll eliminate the bye week and add another (more than likely) pointless game.

:yell: JUST GIVE US A DAMN PLAYOFF SYSTEM ALREADY :yell:

If they did the playoffs like the NFL, college football would fly off the charts in terms of popularity.

Agreed, but of course they (NCAA) see all these "bowl games" and the BCS games as big $$$ generators from the companys who want to pay top $ to have their name on that bowl game, and that's the bottom line. Would an actual playoff system and a REAL championship game bring in just as much revenue??? Who knows...but you'd think by adding a real playoff system would generate more interest thus generating more $$$ in other areas of the sport.

You may get three straight but you must look out for Fresno State! We like to upset big teams!

I'm a little shocked they've got AZ state ranked that high considering the loss of Andrew Walter. I do think Florida and Iowa are going to have a great year this season.

I'm looking forward to seeing what LSU's new coach will do. He certainly has big shoes to fill and alot of talent to work with. He did well at OSU as he competed against Stoopes and Brown, so we shall see. LSU has a killer home schedule and a fairly easy road schedule (Bama being the lone exception).

Former coaches, players to join media in BCS poll
Associated Press

NEW YORK -- The Bowl Championship Series has a new poll, one that begins a month into the college football season and will include former coaches and players, plus media members.

Called the Harris Interactive College Football Poll, it will rank the top 25 teams on a weekly basis, starting Sept. 25, the BCS said Monday. Plans call for 114 voters.

The BCS has said it wanted to eliminate preseason polls, which some believe give highly touted teams an unfair headstart in the rankings.

The new poll replaces The Associated Press poll, which the BCS had used in its formula for ranking teams since 1998. Last season, however, the AP told the BCS it could no longer use its media poll.

In addition to the new poll, the BCS will continue to use the USA Today coaches' poll and a compilation of six computer rankings -- each counting for one-third of a team's grade.

Recently, ESPN pulled out of participating in the coaches poll.

The AP preseason poll will be released Aug. 20, with the first regular-season poll Sept. 6. The AP national champion will be crowned after the Rose Bowl on Jan. 4. The coaches will also compile a preseason ballot.

Last season, Southern California and Oklahoma held the top two spots in both the AP and coaches' polls in the preseason and kept those positions throughout undefeated regular seasons.

Auburn, which began the season ranked in the teens in the polls, went unbeaten but never could pass the Trojans and Sooners. The Tigers did manage to tie Oklahoma in the AP poll for one week late in the season.

All three teams finished the regular season unbeaten and USC and Oklahoma played for the national title in the Orange Bowl. Auburn went to the Sugar Bowl, finished the season 13-0 and had to settle for a final ranking of No. 2 behind national champion USC.

Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said the preseason rankings put his team at a disadvantage because they had too much ground to make up in the BCS standings before games were even played.

Harris Interactive Inc., a marketing company hired by the BCS last month to coordinate the new poll, is in the process of compiling a panel from 300 possible participants. Voters' names will be made public and the panel will represent all 11 Division I-A conferences and independent teams.

*sigh*, and they still can't come up with a playoff system

As long as corporations like Nokia, Tostitos, FedEx, etc are involved, I doubt we'll see a playoff. At least they are adding another BCS game to be played after the first few. I would rather see them use this game to decide who the champion is when two teams don't play each other who should or when there are two undefeated teams who didn't play heads up.
