The new "Chickenfoot" album is like waiting for a new VH album in the early/mid 90's. Infact, its like a new VH albums coming. I just feel some buzz going on. This is gonna be one great album, and I'm feeling confident it will blow peoples minds. Sammy and Mike are giving the fans what they want, and I'm grateful to have these 2 guys so loyal to each other.

Nothing wrong about being excited for a release that features two former memebers of Van Halen. I'm definitely going to check it out but I want to hear some completed tracks before getting overly geeked about it.

Personally, for me, a lot of Sammy's new stuff kinda sucks. I'm more excited about Joe Satriani and Chad Smith playing together...
I can see them play Pleasure Dome Live! Since VH won’t be playing it.
I think lots on here have that "anticipation" of hearing this disc. Just because now we have a chance at hearing some really cool Rock n Roll again.
We all want new VH, but let's face it, that's a long shot and this IS happening.
Rock on People!!!!!!!!
I'd like to hear what this group has to offer. However, outside of this website, I have heard absolutely no buzz about this "project." Typical of the state of music these days.
I'm excited to hear Sam and Mike's voices meshing together again.
Should be a fun album!

So true. Aside from the occasional one off comment on the radio, which BTW was luaghably wrong last Week, and I quote " Sammy Hagar of Van Halen is working on a side project with Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers" Huh?:wtf:
Oh well. I'm looking forward to seeing how this CD's gonna sound. I don't think anyone can deny the chemistry Sam and Mike have. When they play together it's magic. I agree that Sam's style over the last decade has left me cold also. It was leaving Ed cold as well. Aside from other internal factors, I kind of view the way VH fell apart musically, as that they reached that sort of creative overindulgent mentality with FUCK that most successfull bands seem to hit, like oh I don't know.....U2 and Zooropa. It's just Sam stopped writing about just having a good time (cept' for Amsterdam), and saw himself as a public service spokesman, and I just don't think the locked together vibe was there anymore. Just an opinion. I don't see this as a long term project, but who knows. For what it is, I think it will be cool.

No doubt. Octane, BoneYard and Classic Hits have been on this for several weeks, if not months.
I think what it shows is that terrestrial program directors and D.J.'s are becoming increasingly lazy. The ones that have jobs are all about holding on to them. By the time they've done their live shift, vx tracked for 3-4 other stations, in house, and done production work, they go home and don't do any homework. Terrestrial radio has become so vanilla and boring, there's no challenge to try and stay one-up on the competition.
Satellite, on the other hand, are busting their humps to get as much info out to the masses as they can. They're simply leaving "regular" radio behind.

They have market researchers do the homework and create the play list based on what people tell them they want to hear. They don't play the same songs over and over because they are lazy it is because they interview 100 people every other week or so in their 'core' audience. The research group will play hooks from 50-75 songs and people rate them. It isn't the stations fault that people keep giving high rankings to Stairway to Heaven and say they aren't tired of it.

I sadly, do not know the joys of waiting for a new Van Halen album, since I was too damn young when the last one came out. I was semi-excited to get the 2004 tracks in my hands, but nothing spectacular.
This, I'm very excited for. I haven't really been this excited for a new album since Motley Crue's album last year, and Rush's two years ago. I wonder what it would've been like to be 17 in 1995 with Balance due to be released? I wonder if I would've been this excited or perhaps even more?

Keep the faith man!:thumb: The last pics we've seen of Ed have that fire in his eyes that has'nt been there in years.

Ahhhh... I remember that well. On the very day an album was released, I speed from school to the nearest Flip Side. You'd walk in and there was always a giant VH display right up front... complete with tons of new VH CDs/tapes... posters... etc.... The whole "album release" always felt like such an event.
Then, I couldn't wait for the knucklehead behind the counter to get that damn plastic tube-thingee off of the CD/tape because it was headed right for the car stereo.
Good times. *sigh*
Now, where's my iPod?... I need to download another record. :D

Well, If any of the guys in the band read these, I would highly suggest staying away from playing any tracks from their respective old bands. They need to solidify themselves as a band, not an ""x" this or "x" that cover venture. It is a dicy area. Sure it might get a few "hey that was cool" but in the end the material that gets you remembered is your own. They need to pay their own stuff and some really rock' diehard classics that all can appreciate. Such as throwing in an old ZEP tune , Free, or anthing they can justifiably pull off. Go back to their roots for the cover tunes, and stick with their new stuff to gain a new fresh fan base, even if let's say chad smith does not stick around and goes back to his old band it won't matter. They should stay completely away from any VH, Old hagar, chilipeppers, and Joes stuff too. I for one don't want to hear any VH tunes at all. If you wan't to hear it, go put in a disc or wait for something new, if it ever comes. ALL new and all Classic will bring people to their feet guaranteed ! The list of classic rock tunes for them to pull from that all can appreciate is endless..........

Gotta remember dude, I was in radio. I know what they do. When consultants started doing programming from NY or LA, and the Clear Channel, Infinity, etc. conglomerates started, that's when local radio died.
Some hack/failed DJ in New York has NO idea what someone in Iowa or Texas wants. When stations were programmed locally, there was greater variety and far more loyalty to a station. I could go from Chicago to Des Moines and never hear the same sound. Now, it's all the same.

I don't think you'll be disappointed! Learn and educate others!!
:bounce:
Personally, I honestly think I WILL see a new VH album sooner rather than later. And I can't WAIT!:bounce:
BUT! I will bet that this Chickenfoot album, will have a freshness and an "in your face sound that we won't hear from a new VH album.
The most IN YOUR FACE VH album in my opinion is Women and Children first. Very roomy. And it's RIGHT.....IN.....YOUR....FACE. Not a lot of other crap.
Well...after listening to that little snippet of Chickenfoot they released last week. I got the same feeling.
And I didn't want to do this but when you heard Joe's playing on that little snippet, who was the first guitar player you thought of?
I thought of Ed. Only the playing I heard on that clip sounds like Ed's style from pre-1986. Something you guys haven't heard since that time.
This album is going to SMOKE. I'm still a bit apprehensive about the lyrics...but I can guarantee you that the music will speak for itself!:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
