I just learned today Willie Nelson penned Nightlife, which Dave did on Your Filthy Little Mouth. Duh! Its been awhile since I looked at the liner notes. I really dig Dave's version, especially the remix. Thoughts?

He did a remix of this? Where?
I have the "Your Filthy Little Mouth" album and the "Night Life" single which features the following tracks - Night Life
Panama (Live)
Big Train (Live)
Experience (Live)
I never noticed any difference.
Maybe it's on the other single - Night Life
Jump (Live)
She's My Machine
(Live)
I'm waiting on a copy of that single from eBay

When that evenin'
Sun go down
You won't find me hangin' round
I know the Night Life
Ain't no good life
But it's my life
All the people
Just like you and me
They all just dreamin'
Bout some old used to be
They know the Night Life
Ain't no good life
Yeah, but it's my life
Wait a minute
What's that I think I hear, I say!
Baby, listen to the blues
Hear what they say
Listen to the blues, baby
Hear the guitar play
Don't tell me life
Is just an empty thing
Nothing but people
A whold boulevard of broken dreams
Cause I know the Night Life
Ain't no good life
Yeah, but it's my life

I think Dave's voice sounds mint on that entire album. He needs to do more tunes like NL.

lol - me thinks there is a stark link betwixt "para," "Blind Lemon," and "Blind Willie," just a blank shot in the dark, though...

Thought this would happen. I still think this album will sell more copies than Van Halen 3 in the long run.

RIAA has just certified Chickenfoot's self-titled debut album as Gold, having shipped 500,000 copies.

It's definitely gonna be Platinum someday in the not-too-far future, like Montrose ultimately did.

If it took 3 months to sell 500,000, you are correct in thinking it could eventually go platinum. The thing is that classic rock is no longer popular and there aren't that many stations left that would play CF. You then have to ask yourself, where are the half million people who will 1) hear CF and 2) buy the album going to come from?
After the tour ends these guys should release another single and if it got a little traction, it could push the album to platinum status.

That's great to hear!
OK OK OK, you caught me... I admit, I bought 23 copies of the album...

Bought 2.
I'm confused about the sales numbers. Does this include album downloads? (If so, count me in for 2.)

Who woulda thunk that in this day and age with the state of music the way it is that a straight forward rock album could hit gold? This is good news.

Long terms sales also depend if the songs are gonna appear in popular movies, licensed for TV commercials, etc.
So who knows. I mean they do have potential, whereas you know no one would ever use "Year To The Day" on TV or in the movies (sorry Broken).
"Turning Left" could be use to sell a car. :D
that's cool for those in the band and the fans of said band. I wanted to like the tunes I heard, but didn't. And.... I like these dudes. Hence, no purchase.

I must admit, I'm sorta surprised by the work we've all done using word of mouth. I had a kid at work yesterday that saw the Chickenfoot patch I had made and was curious. He wanted to know more about it. I said "Go to chickenfoot.us". He did and there ya have it. A new Chickenfoot fan.

Er... ppl coming to the chickenfoot forum and "apologizing" for not liking the band, seems like a new trend... thank for being so polite, your mom and dad have done a fine job raising you! However you could save your trouble and just post in the other forums, thank you!

The album went KISS gold.. meaning they shipped 500,000... they didnt actually sell 500,000.
This is the same tactic that KISS has used for years.. by shipping over a million albums they achieved platinum status though many albums ended up returned to the label.
Best of the luck to the Foot.. good CD... but they wont actually sell 500,000 copies of this CD...

If this is true, why wasn't it certified gold immediately?

RIAA tracks what the sales places buy. Best Buy, etc, obviously sold what they had, and bought more. They didn't buy 500k because they don't think they'll sell.
Lots of albums are certified this way. Most, in fact.
It's a far cry from back in the day, when sales figures were just made-up lies. Hell, this album would be platinum based on the way things used to be done.

It's cool for peeps to voice their opinion on cf regardless of it being pro or con. What gets old is negative BS and what's even worse is those who seem to thrive on it and or need it to feel as if a valid point is being made.
Believe me, I can trade barbs with the best of em', but, it's a waste of time.

I think it's awesome in this day and age that the album's gone Gold. I also think it's depressing to think that in this day and age, doing that well's considered a success. Shows how far the industry's sunk. Good to see the band doing well though, the album's shipped as many units as BOBW (that being a double album it only had to shift 500, 000 to go Platinum) which is cool.
Rumblings of "Platinum" are being heard however...that won't happen. The band's talked about doing a few gigs here and there while the Chillis are back together. But promotion for Chickenfoot's essentially gonna die for a year or two. Most bands would in some capacity continue to tour, and playing any material from an album inevitably helps it sell.
Plus, Mike seems to have no other plans in the pipeline and Sammy's probably just gonna play same ol' hits with the Wabos. Neither of them's gonna be getting any interviews once interviewers stop asking questions about CF, which means there'll be less coverage for the band members generally.

Who knows, it could go platinum, or it might not. There's not a huge negative backlash against the album like III had, so it could get there eventually. They don't necessarily need to tour. Movies, video games, commercials - there are many ways to sell an album in 2009.

Its a good CD.. i listen to it all the time.. but again..KISS perfected the shipment of platinum albums when in fact they sold much less...
500,000 shipped are not 500,000 purchased by fans..
Who cares.. its a good CD

KISS albums were popular, or they'd not have been able to convince stores to order so many copies of albums, surely?
I get your point to an extent; the sales potential of the four solo albums was greatly over-estimated....but other than that? If KISS were selling no copies of stuff, no stores would buy em, so they'd not get the shipment figures.
You make it sound like they deliberately wasted money just so they could get Plat certs 'for kicks'.
