You know.....I think we as Americans should set a time and have everybody in the country sit down...crack open your favorite adult beverage (If your in AA then go to a fucking meeting) and try to find our sense of humour. Cause it's gone and that really pisses me off. Bill Mahr is supposed to say things like that, it's part of his job. If you dont like it dont fucking listen to it. This country of ours is getting way to PC. You all know that commercial with Chris Berman and the Arab Taxi Driver? I guess they pulled that because it is now "Offensive". Give me a fucking break. Hell I thought it was damn funny. smilies/smile.gif
i dont know though that was a fucked up thing to say a day after the attack.

Well said, it sure seems like now of all times is when we need people like him questioning what's going on. He's not saying yes or no, just asking tough questions, and IMO that should be a good thing.

...although there is something to be said for timing.

Ohh....please elaborate on this for me?? smilies/confused.gif
I heard a sound bite of what it was Bill said and it didnt seem that offensive or wrong to me.
From what I heard, he said it was an act of bravery for those hijackers to crash the planes the way they did.

WOW! I must have missed something. All I heard was his giving the government and flight school a rough time for not heeding the warnings that they had before hand.

People like Bill Mahr should keep their mouths shut. This guy makes rude comments like that because it fits his agenda in being this socalled "political humorist." He's nothing but a moron. Don't let what he says offend you - he's got someone else writing it for him anyway.
what ive heard from the news reports is that he said...."we are the cowards ,we bomb from miles away with missles. they are the brave ones, at least they rode the planes into the buildings and died like warriors."
well, damn. i can't say that i disagree with the statement though, those people are willing to die for their religion, so it makes sense.
i definitely think that he should have kept his mouth shut that soon after the attack though.

It may have been brave if they attacked suspecting soldiers, not innocent, unsuspecting pedestrians.

This guy should be kicked off TV and blackballed by every network. This is a time when we need to be united, not have some jackass shooting off his mouth, saying things for shock value. I bet he'd be singing a different tune if someone he knew was on one of those planes or in the towers. Fuck em, if he was in front of me right now "he'd better be wearing a cup" smilies/devil.gif

Bravery has nothing to do with what these fuckwads did. Attacking without warning and taking innocent people with them is not my idea of bravery. Those hijackers were a bunch of goddamn pussies! People commit suicide every day - are these people brave also?
And as for dying for your religion or your cause - that's a load of horseshit too! The brave men and women in our armed forces and those of our allies want to do their duty and do what's right, even if that means fighting. But I'll guaran-damn-tee you none of them want to die!
As George C. Scott once eloquently said in the movie "PATTON": "Now I want you to remember: No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

This is exactly how this has snowballed and may really damage Phil Marh. I watched that show, and this has gotten ridiculously blown out of perspective. He's a good american and he was trying to make a point. Those quotes taken by themselves really dont paint the correct picture. In the show, he said that to basically compare the two nations and show what we had to go up against and prepare ourselves for. Basically, we need to become more ready to be like that. His choice of words there in my opinion were a little fucked up, but its not as bad as the hype that has gotten created over him.

That's what I got from what I saw, mind you I didn't see the actual show where he made those comments, just the one's after, and from what I heard it seemed like he was totally into the US, but just made a few points.
BTW, isn't his name Bill?

lol. Yeah, it is Bill.
yeah, bill maher. smilies/smile.gif
I saw Bill on Hard Ball after this happened. He was claiming that this was blown WAY out of proportion. The host of Hard Ball said that he'd read the transcript of what Maher allegedly said, and that what was being reported in the news was something that Bill Maher never said...
I didn't see the show where he allegedly said anything. I have seen subsequent shows. I've also seen other reports, and they are largely blaming Howard Stern for "bastardizing" what Maher really did say.
I can't really speak to that, cuz I wasn't listening to Stern that day...
