Well, I just went through (I mean literally) my first bass drum head EVER!! Been playing for 11 years and have never done that before. I usually change them before they fail on me. I'm kinda proud of me. :D
Sorry, just thought I'd share to useless piece of information. ;)

Dude you musta been jammin'? What heads do you use? Do you have double bass, double-bass pedal, or a single? What are your cymbals? :D
I've played and usually always use Tama or Remo heads, single bass, 3 toms and a high hat. The cymbals are Zildjian(sp?) with pro sticks 5. :D

WOW DUDE! haha I've never done that! Dented em, but not gone through em...I use a Clear Pinstripe on my batter head with a Falam Slam kevlar beater pad (and hard felt beaters)...that holds up very well. I dont change my bass drum batter head anywhere near as often as you would change a snare or tom head, in fact mine has lasted over 2 yrs!
I use Pearl drums, Zildjian cymbals, and Easton Ahead sticks.

Congrats TT,
You've now been accepted to the upper esceleon of drummers!
Did it freak your shit, or we're you whacking away until it finally gave?

paradiddle, it was pretty cool man. I'm there practicing and go for my next kick. My foot goes down but there is no footboard!! It's in it's lowest position and then the fucking beater is inside the drum! Haha. I raised my hands in victory. :D

Good work, Top! Now when you threaten to put your foot up somebody's ass, it will carry a bit more weight. smilies/wink.gif
Al would be proud. smilies/cool.gif
LOL....
Now we all have to set a goal to do the same.

Now I have a question - have any of you ever had your bass drum batter head dent right below the center impact area - about half way between the hoop and the head's center?
I sometimes have the problem that my pedal will rub against this area (the bottom of the beater shaft) and wear it out or dent it...anyone else ever have this weird problem?

I usually catch that problem before I start playing, and it takes a good tight twist on the beater shaft lock to keep it from slipping.
