I just watched a few minutes of the All-Star game. The Star Spangled Banner was the worst attempt I have EVER seen. It was such an embarrasment for the U.S. They had a fake drum machine beat going... It SUCKED. Whoever asked "Brandy" to fuck up the song that represents our country should be burned like th proper barial for a flag. Or in this case a "FAG"....

Generally, the "Love it" part of the equation generally implies in its entirety, the country, it's good points, it's bad points, and that includes the political processes you've touched upon. I don't believe it's meant to be taken as "love it" and do nothing about current social or political ills while you're here.

Certainly, if I were ranting about the greatness of America with my blinders firmly attached, and not doing anything to make improvements to this great nation, when and where possible, through the means provided to me by the Constitution as a citizen, then of course you make valid points. But I vote in local, state, and federal elections and have done so since I was of legal age. And if I didn't give a damn about this country or what it stands for, then I wouldn't vote, or I'd move to Canada or some such place.

Certainly the US isn't perfect, and there is always room for improvement. But that can be said about any country, and there's no reason to be embarrased about it.
