14 Shot Dead At Dark Knight Rises Premier In Denver
I posted this in The Dark Knight Rises thread, but thought it deserves its own thread for the discussion that could arise from it.
Now we can't even go out to see a movie without worrying what's going on in the head of someone that's sitting two rows behind us.
Is there something about this movie that inspired the suspect(s) to do what they did? Will people be afraid to go see this film for fear of copy cats?
Metal detectors at the local theater from here on out?

14 shot dead at Batman premier in Denver
A masked gunman shot dead 14 people and wounded 50 others at a showing of new Batman movie 'The Dark Knight Rises' at a movie theatre in the US city of Denver.
Initial estimates are that 30-40 people have been injured

10 people died at the scene, four died later in hospitals in the area.
Only one gunman is suspected. He was arrested at the scene, in possession of weapons and gas cannisters.
The radio station said a figure in a gas mask had opened fire at the showing in the Century 16 movie theatre in the suburb of Aurora and set off a smoke or tear gas bomb.
30 people are confirmed to have been taken to six local hospitals.
Dozens of police were at the scene, CNN footage showed.
KOA said authorities were evacuating the area while they checked if there was an exploding device there.
CNN quoted one witness as saying he saw a "guy slowly making his way up the stairs and firing, picking random people".
It said local hospitals were alerted to a "mass casualty incident".
Local media said moviegoers thought the gunshots were part of the movie sound effects.

This is unbelievable. I've been watching the news coverage for this for the last 50 mins while trying to get ready for the day. Trying.
Apparently, the police have surrounded the perp's apartment bldg and are going to try to enter his apartment because he mentioned bomb-making material at his domicile.
Why would someone do this?

It saddens me but this is what she should expect from the devolution of our society. I know it's not just one thing but what can you expect with the lack of moral fiber that runs through it. Believe me I am not religious person at all. In fact I champion the rights for everybody. However something is amiss where a person can not only think of something like this but actually carry it to fruition.
We lack respect for others and respect for rules, regulations and common decency to our fellow man.
My prayers and thoughts go out to those affected.

I'm all for public executions for crimes of this nature...seriously. Except the firing squad would be too humane. I'm thinking more along the lines of the rack or draw & quarter.
