Oh, and I forgot about King's X, as well.

In regards to Bon Jovi, they really didn't lose a member, they lost their live player.

It has been acknowledged after the fact that it was their current bass player (Hugh MacDonald I believe) and not Alec Jon Such (sp?) is the one playing on their albums.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

That's true but he was always listed as an "official" member. Like I kept saying before, it's a reach, but it's the best example I can think of.

Regardless of who was actually playing, the man on the promos and in the credits was Alec John Such. And granted I've always liked Hugh a lot more, but based on how it was always listed they did lose a member.

That's reaching though, and I do agree with your point that the reality is, they didn't really lose a MEMBER. Historically though, that's how it went down.

that's not always true. Take Bon Jovi for instance. Coming off the New Jersey tour where they had back-to-back #1 albums and a string of huge hits they were absolutely cooked. Jon Bon wanted to keep going...in fact he wanted to add legs to the tour according to a couple articles I've read. They were on the road for about 2 years. When they finally came back home everyone wanted time off Jon Bon wanted to "strike while the iron was hot." They told him to go fuck himself. So, he went off and made Young Guns II without them and the guys dissapeared. Tico started painting while David Bryan began working on movie scores . Richie, after taking a long break, came out with his solo record. Then they reconvened for Keep the Faith.

I've read where they credit that break with saving their future and that for a time during that break, they weren't even sure if they would actually get back together.

So while I do tend to agree that, in personal relationships like a marriage or a girlfriend-boyfriend setup, if you feel like you need to take an extended break from one another you might as well just break up, I don't think that's always the case in an environment like musical collaboration.

Ageing rocker, Ted Nugent was held briefly for treatment at an Arizona hospital after an altercation with a six year old Chinese girl, sources say.
It appears that the famously right-wing musician, seen above sporting a wig-mullet and full body beard, had made derogotary comments about the girl's father, a communist party official from Ghangzhou.
Just moments after this photo was taken, the plucky girl, whose name remains unreleased, socked the Nuge with a straight left followed by a roundhouse kick, as she screamed "You don't lock. You don't loll. You illelevant".
Sources say that the Nuge will still be performing his scheduled concert on his poorly attended "American dickhead" tour, tomorrow night. Controversy has followed the tour, which includes live on stage killings of illegal aliens. One unwilling attendee, named Jason, of Cuban - Jewish ancestry, said quite succinctly; "Ted's a fag".

Led Zep eventually would have broken up. I doubt the rest would have continued on without one of them, even if Bonham had lived, but at some point Plant would have wanted to evolve and Page I don't think would have.
