Default Sevendust Warms up with Some Van Halen

One of my fave bands is Sevendust...They just entered
the studio to record there new cd with Disturbed producer
Johnny K,and they are also launching an updated website,
http://www.sevendust.com/
that includes Blogs and video clips from the studio
during the recording process.

Wish VH would do this sort of thing if they ever get around
to recording and functioning like a NORMAL band again

Alice In chains did the video blog as well during the recording
of there new cd Black Gives Way To Blue, lets hope Jerry mentioned
that to Ed

Anyways...One of the Video clips from the studio is them warming
up with Van Halens Mean Street...
The VH jam starts around the 2.00 Mark.

Hopefully i Embeded this right,if not...Click here instead to
view the vid -----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTehy1MsrQ0

Cool stuff. Hope the album comes out well. I like Sevendust, they put out new stuff very consistantly, but it never blows me away. Their last 3 or so have been more heavy and less melodic, compared to "Seasons".

They have had some good stuff on there last three cd's...
But i agree with you about some of the melodys not being
QUITE what they used to be,like on there previous cd's...
Seasons,Home and prolly there best CD Animosity.

Largely due to Guitarist Clint Lowery Not being on the
bands last 3 releases...And having Sonny Mayo in the
band instead...He was a very good replacement, but he doesnt
have quite the chops that clint has....Especially when it came
to writing melodys and even in the solo department.

But with him being BACK in the fold now, hopefully that will change,
and we will get a kick ass cd from 7D this time around

Also looks like i did NOT embed the Youtube vid
correctly damnit

Yeah,it was reported here on the links a while back,
me thinks before the 2004 reunion with Sammy, maybe someone
here has a better memory of it than i...I dont recall if he went
back stage for a meet and greet before or after the show,
or if there were any pics taken or was just a member of the audience.

I'd LOVE to see them record this as a b-side or bonus track. We don't see enough "big bands" paying tribute to the VH. Hell, make it a single. I can see a band like this making Mean Street relevant again. (I know, I know)
The lyrics reflect what these bands write about. Just add some screams and growls and the kids would love it.

I've never bought a Sevendust CD, however I've seen them a couple of times at festival shows. They are great live.

and check out the latest clips from them recording there new cd,
and giving there die hard fans, more treats than tricks, unlike some ummm, other band we know.

Check out the groove and cool sounds coming from Johns guitar
in this clip...This ones going to be a fun song to check out when
its done,it all ready sounds bad ass

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Doo4jrYrexM

Also the band working on another tune from there up coming cd
in this clip.

Love Sevendust. I got into them around the time Animosity came out when I was in high school. And I still believe that one that to be their best cd. I think it was also their most successful. The last few were definitely less melodic, but still very good in a different way (well actually I thought Next was kind of sub par as a whole). The last album Hope and Sorrow, I thought was a bit of an improvement in the melody department and probably the best Sonny era cd...then the one before it (the name escapes me) and then Next. So basically they got better with each cd while Sonny was in the band and they were quite prolific which I enjoyed. Hopefully they'll get the new one out soon enough.

I've only been able to catch them one time live...that was early 2004 during the Seasons tour. It was a great show. I remember being physically drained by the third song and I loved it. I'd like to see them again....it's just always inconvenient when they come around.
