Thumbs down

From what I've come to understand, this book may NEVER see the light of day. I thought I'd heard it was being tied up in all kinds of legal red tape as well as a "cease & desist" from Sammy as well, I think.

Too bad though. I KNOW it'd be one incredible read.

Not so fast . . . Sammy didn't write it. And when the author sued to get the book published, Sammy fought and won. In other words, Sammy prevented the book from being published. Therefore, your guess is as good as mine regarding whether ANY of it is true.

I've read the first part before, don't believe I'd read the second - actually I thought when I read it the first time that it went into the whole mess of "Humans Being" and then the father's day firing, but I've read so many different things, they're probably blurring together!
Overall, If this is 100% true (or damn nearly so) then Sam got the royal screws put towards him. The only part that ticks me off (as it did the first time) is him keeping Betsy's heirloom silverware - that seemed kind of cold, especially considering she could've taken him for everything he has and didn't.
I'm still not sure what happened with the Cabo Wabo thing, either. It doesn't sound here like he really tried to sell the Van Halen's on keeping their involvement with it going, instead hoping to get it all to himself.
But still, they raked him over the coals pretty good if this is accurate.
Maybe he had to pull it because they threatened a lawsuit if he published, or Danniels threatened and he really didn't want that at the time?

If I recall correctly, Sammy put the kaibosh on the book because it contained some "unauthorized quotes" in it.

Question

Sammy probably threatened to sue the co-author because Danniels had threatened to sue Sammy.

I don't see why Sammy would back down from anything he said about Danniels or the Lying Dutchmen, since it wasn't contradictory to anything he said in numerous interviews before and after the book was written.

The one thing I could think of where Sammy would have a problem with the publication is the quotes from his ex wife Betsy, which basically make him look like a total fucking asshole, at least as far as their marriage was concerned.

I've cross referenced it with other interviews from various guitar mags, and if it's not acurate then someone has gone to a hell of a lot of trouble.
I think it's Guitar world (the issue with Marilyn Manson or whatever it is on the cover) has an interview with Ed in it explaining his version of events.
The way he made a point of adressing some issues (particlarly about the date he stopped drinking) you could be forgiven for thinking he read chapters 19 and 20 just before he told his side.
One thing is for sure though, Ray Daniels played a hell of a large part in us not being able to here enough of Van Halen MkII!
THANKS PRICK!

Does anyone have any idea where these chapters came from or how they were released?

Damn I'd love to get ahold of that book. I'd read it in one day, and read it over and over. It's gotta be 1000 times better than Dave's book.
